ulcruz2 Posted February 3, 2020 #1 Share Posted February 3, 2020 Does anyone know why Symphony of the Seas is still in Miami. It is supposed to be docking in Roatan in about an hour -
DarrenM Posted February 3, 2020 #2 Share Posted February 3, 2020 I love quizzes The driver hasnt turned up? They forgot to refuel? The crew are on strike? The ocean has frozen over? 1
Rare Essiesmom Posted February 3, 2020 #3 Share Posted February 3, 2020 (edited) The shipment of rice for the crew and toilet paper didn't arrive. There's no schedule for her from 2/1 until 2/4 when she does a 4 day cruise to Coco Cay. I surmise it is a charter. Try asking on the Royal Caribbean board here. Zach1213 Posted February 3, 2020 #4 Share Posted February 3, 2020 The synchronous booty shaking from Shakira and J-Lo in Miami caused a localized tsunami which knocked out the ship's propulsion systems. 4

leaveitallbehind Posted February 3, 2020 #6 Share Posted February 3, 2020 ....and if they are supposed to be in Roatan in the next hour they better find the Captain from last night's SB party and get moving fast, as it is a 2-day sail to get there! Warp speed, Mr. Chekov!! 1
CPT Trips Posted February 3, 2020 #7 Share Posted February 3, 2020 Warp speed won’t do the trick. Royal needs to recreate the “Philadelphia Experiment. “

But seeing as how by now they should have already been in Roatan, Mr. Peabody's Wayback machine might be the better solution...😉

AF-1 Posted February 4, 2020 #10 Share Posted February 4, 2020 (edited) I believe the ship was chartered by the NFL for the superbowl. I know one of the NCL ships what used for hotel space for the news crews and sports casters. I was watching the pre game on fox sports and they were doing live stuff from NCL Escape Edited February 4, 2020 by AF-1

I know when the SB was in Jacksonville in 2005 there were a couple of cruise ships docked there that were chartered as hotels.

The fact that ships holding several thousand people can still get in/out of Tampa, I would said we're likely to see them.

True, but neither of the two ships mentioned as being in Miami, Symphony and NCL Escape, will be in Tampa.

I don't think it was intended to mean that those specific ships would be there. But certainly those based there through 2021 - or those of a size to dock there - will be likely candidates. 😊
AF-1 Posted February 5, 2020 #18 Share Posted February 5, 2020 The NFL will charter a ship that will fit into the ports of wherever the super bowl is. Not a big deal. They have done it before and will do it again.

coaster Posted February 5, 2020 #22 Share Posted February 5, 2020 (edited) The NFL will have more options in Tampa also than in the past. Holland America and Celebrity are coming back to Tampa with ships next winter after a year absence for HAL and over a decade for Celebrity. MSC will start their first ever sailings from Tampa also. ace1zoe2 Posted February 5, 2020 #23 Share Posted February 5, 2020 I believe both Symphony & Oasis we’re chartered by Chick-fil-a for their annual owner/operators and corporate meeting. They boarded yesterday and are at CoCo Cay today.

In order to get a Super Bowl, the host city must have a certain number of hotel rooms available. If I recall correctly, Jacksonville chartered the cruise ships so that it could meet the requisite number of room. A very creative solution on Jacksonville's part.
