Exactly. I never turn down free money.

Princess had a gift card promotion last Mother’s Day and Father’s Day, so keep an eye out for this year too.

Do you remember if the amounts are the same, better, or worse?  I did those last year.

I have never bought a gift card or used one to pay on a cruise. If I bought three,  Do you just give your TA the numbers on each card and it shows as three payments on your TA invoice.

Yes, just call your TA and they will apply each one as a payment. Then he/she should send you a new invoice.

I think the Mother’s Day promotion was the same, but the Father’s Day was to buy a card for $500 and get $25. Poor dads get no respect! 😉

This could be handy with our final payment coming up, but I have a question...if we had to cancel our cruise due to unforeseen circumstances are these gift cards refundable? Or do they carry over to another cruise if necessary?

You may not be able to get a refund on the bonus cards if you cancel after their expiration date, which is 4/30/20.

The email from Princess says that you can order up to 5 cards. That’s what I did. Hopefully I’ll get the $50 bonus for each. Everything will be applied to my upcoming cruise.

Did you get 1 or 5 of the $50 cards?

I got five. I ordered each separately and used different “to” names and “from” names, but used my same email address and credit card. I’m not sure I needed to change the names, but I did, just in case.

I was waiting for this promo as well.  I always have a couple of cruises booked directly with Princess, even though I am well aware you can also apply these if working with a travel agency.  Anyway, I got the gift card numbers and pins, went into my personalizer and bingo .. purchased and applied all within 10 minutes without even having to make a phone call.  Yoohoo!  I think I need to buy one for my DH now that he bought one for me.  😉

And yes, 5% is back is so much better than a poke in the eye.

I just received all five of my digital $1000 cards plus all five of the $50 bonus cards by email. It only took ten minutes from order to receipt.

<deleted> answered my question in a post above in regards to multiple orders

The last one was Christmas and was $500/$25 like Father's Day reported above.  I MUCH prefer the $1000/$50 situation as less cards to order!!  I will happily take the 5% on my money for the next 5 months to FP date.  That is over 10% annualized return!!

In the past I've ordered the physical plastic cards. Only the "bonus" cards were e-cards. Somehow I just don't trust Princess to not "accidentally lose" e-cards when there's that much money at stake.

If you apply the e-cards as OBC make sure the Princess rep applies them one at a time. I had some bozo try to do it in a batch and it bombed and turned into a huge hassle trying to get the credit applied at all. It finally ended up that one was (for some bizarre reason) applied as Casino Credit, a couple were applied correctly, and one bonus card was simply never applied at all no matter how many people I went through. It was just "gone". All of the reps I spoke with (other than the initial one that screwed things up) thought it was really strange that anybody would even have tried to apply more than one card at a time so it's not the norm but make sure you don't get someone like that when you call to apply your cards.

Buying cards one at a time. Getting physical cards. The stupid system is doing what it did last time and keeps telling me my address can't be verified. I've only lived here for 31 years or so. GAH! I truly despise poor IT.

Got five.  Will wait for Mother's Day promo to get another five. Thanks for the heads up on this. For some reason I didn't get the email. Turns out my wife got it but had deleted it as she assumed I had also gotten it. Once again folks here on CC have come through.

Went back and got 1 more. Canceled my prepaid MedallionNet and purchased OBC. That refund covered close to half the 4th gift card. Paid March gratuities, MedallionNet, and OBC. Paid off Asia and 200 OBC there. I'm good! 🤑

Our cruise is in August and was paid in Canadian dollars but we still have over $4K for final payment..  From reading the FAQs on Princess' site it looks like I can't apply these gift cards to final payment because it's in CAD, is that right?

If I still buy the gift cards (in USD) do they get deposited into OBC once onboard, and if that OBC is not used does it come back to me as a refund or would it be more gift cards?

In the USA, you get a refund.

Apply the $ 50 cards to your account right away.

Just spoke to someone at Princess gift card support and got my answer.  Not gonna work for us Canadians :(

Next time call Princess and book your fare in USD.  Or better yet, find a good US-based TA that gives a nice discount off the cruise fare and forget about Canadian TA's who do us no favors.
