What is Royals status match with Celebrity?

I'm Elite on celebrity and got and offer for a free 8 day cruise from Baltimore.

I have never sailed Royal before.

Their webpage says they will status match but doesn't say what.

So what will be status on Royal?

Would it be better to wait till Elite Plus before doing the status match?

And does Royal match my celebrity casino tier as well? (I'm sapphire)

From what I understand, the highest they will match is Diamond on RCL and Elite on Celebrity so getting to Elite Plus will not get you any higher on RCL.

No they do not match casino tiers.  They are run by different companies.

You will be diamond with zero RC cruise points. You could be zenith with Celebrity and you still would only be diamond with RC. You could be pinnacle with RC and you will only be elite with Celebrity. Cruise points are not transferable between RC and Celebrity.

Also, be forewarned that the RCI Baltimore boat maybe a stark difference from Celebrity and what you’re used too. Ive had relatives who have only cruised carnival take that cruise as their first RCI and never want to cruise with RCI again.

is there much difference between diamond and the next level?

(on celebrity, there isnt much difference between Elite and Elite Plus)

A few things. As D+ we like the free wash and fold bag of laundry each. We only use them for socks and underwear. Also we like the reserved seating section in Studio B for the ice shows. The theater also has a reserved section but we prefer to sit else where. The difference between D and D+ is better than the difference between E and E+.

So, wait. Sorry to hijack the thread first of all, but this is raising questions now :)

I was Emerald on RC when I started cruising Celebrity several years ago. After a few cruises with Celebrity we reached Elite. Does that mean I can transfer that back to RC to be Diamond now? When I log onto RC it still shows me as Emerald so I think this would be something I'd need to contact RC directly to do? Could my TA do it?

Thanks!

Yes if you are Elite on X you should automatically be bumped up to Diamond on RCI. Yes your TA can call them or you can. Perhaps they have not got your X profile linked to your RCI profile so they don't know you are the same person, It is easy to resolve.

Thanks a bunch. Yes there was a name change in there and a new TA, so I think there's a bit of work to be done, but that is great news. I didn't plan on going back to RC because my now ex was a firm Celebrity fan... so I never expected to be in this situation :classic_laugh: not a bad one to be in though.

you dont get free laundry as D?

you need to be D+? 😞

(on celebrity, you get free laundry as elite, not E+)

No free wash and fold laundry perk for diamond, only D+. Agree it's a nice perk with Celebrity for being elite. Each program is good though. I guess that's why we keep cruising with both Celebrity and RC.

Just be aware that you won't be bumped to 80 points on RCI, which is the normal minimum for Diamond member.  You get Diamond recognition but whatever points you have as an Emerald remain as your total.

Yes, same here...we love both Celebrity and RCCL.

To be clear, Yes, if you have Elite status on X, that translates to reciprocal status of Diamond on RC, but understand that the points to not combine. You could sail 100 more cruises on RC, and while those points will contribute to reaching Diamond Plus and Pinnacle on RC, but will not contribute to reaching Elite Plus or Zenith on X.  To go any higher on X you need to actually sail on X.
