Indeed. We used them for shorter cruises to avoid the long drive.

Flybe was the most prolific airline out of Southampton so the airport will suffer as well.

 

The news is indicating that easyJet are cherry picking some of the routes but who knows which ones they will take. BA used to do Edinburgh to Southampton but dropped it when Flybe went into competition with them a few years ago.

 

As you say it all just adds to the confusion and upset.

Once the smaller  airline companies sre gone so is the competition. The more larger well known companies will have the monopoly. They can increase prices as they wish and us poor saps will have no alternative.

    It will  certainly impact on us as we live in Scotland and always fly, our option of 1 hour on a flight or 10 hours on a coach/train is a no brainer.

It was far better when there was an option of BA and Flybe to Southampton now there isn't a carrier. We are going on Iona in June and and we have flight's booked for Southampton so we now need to look at our options.

As you say it just adds to the misery as our flights were not part of a package so we will need to claim the money back through our credit card.

If no other carrier takes over the route then it could be the end of Southampton Airport.

I disagree with that sentiment we only recently booked a short haul flight with BA and they were a lot cheaper and I dont mean by a couple of pounds than Jet2.

Yes, my daughter-in-law has a friend who was due to fly with Thomas cook days after their collapse. She eventually got her money back and booked another holiday, due to fly tomorrow... with Flybe. She’s livid.

For anyone interested Logan Air has taken over 16 Flybe regional routes including Edinburgh to Southampton which commences on the 15th June and Glasgow which is available from 16th March.

Supposed to fly IOM-MAN this morning for flight to join Azura tomorrow for B2B then TA to Southampton but had to get the ferry instead no big deal not the end of the world. Got lots of friends working with them who have no jobs now they’re the people getting hurt by this spare a thought for them please

It's been a manic day for us with many clients booked on flights operated by Flybe. Loganair are still in business but if flights were booked using Flybe codeshare then these are no longer valid and passengers need to rebook onto Loganair.

 

Flybe operated many other codeshares (Air France, KLM etc) and if booked on Flybe tickets, these no longer valid and claims need to be made to the credit/debit card issuer. If booked on an Air France codeshare for example, these can be changed for no fee (after talking to Air France) for fully operated Air France flights.

 

Blue Island are still operating, but again if ticketed on a Flybe codeshare, these need to be rebooked with this airline.

 

Several train companies were offering free rail travel today for people stranded, such as Avanti West Coast and LNER.

 

easyJet and BA are offering Flybe staff free or greatly reduced fares to help them get home.

We were booked with Flybe for October Ventura cruise, flying from Edinburgh to Southampton return. As soon as I heard Loganair had picked up this route I went ahead and booked with them, actually worked out better as we can now fly direct from Scottish Islands which is easier than a ferry plus booked all the way through with same airline. Just got to get the Flybe money back now through a section 75 refund. Prior to this I was thinking to cancel as I don't think the thick side of £2000 for travel and accommodation just to join Ventura cruise is value for money.

It is not just those living up in Scotland that are being affected, people down here are too. Also was watching the news this morning that those living on the Channel Islands who regularly fly over to Southampton for hospital treatment.

For anyone affected by the collapse of Flybe with flights to Southampton, Eastern Airlines are taking over the Southampton to Manchester and Southampton to Newcastle routes from next week with flights on sale soon.
