We had to make the awful decision yesterday to let our elderly dog who had an aggressive tumor to cross the rainbow bridge. I am heartbroken 💔

Absolutely beautiful, really gorgeous, and really loved.      No more could be asked for xx

I am so sorry that you have lost your beautiful dog.  We still miss our dog but he was just irreplaceable and 14 years later we still talk about him.

Our beatiful border collie, Gemma, had a stroke at the age of 15. That was 23 years ago and  reading  Michelle's post and the replies has me in tears. It brings bring back our own loss. Gemma wormed her way into our hearts and and never left. She is unforgetable, and as you say Josy, irreplaceable.

Michelle, I am so, so sorry for the decision you have had to make. We all know it’s the right thing to do but it’s heart breaking. Just remember you gave him a brilliant life and he will always be in your your heart.

Lots of love,

Jennizor

I was reading somewhere about how a small gesture to someone, ie a kind word or similar, can make their day and can escalate.   Like on here really, especially the mornings fun from Kalos during lockdown which made us  all smile and all our supportive and fun posts.

Well we have a silly version of that!

My daughter works at a Hospital as Recruitment Manager, which in times off staff shortages can be very stressful.  Fortnightly we pass there and one day popped in M and S and dropped off some donuts.  They loved them and  it became such that every two weeks we dropped in bags of donuts and one vegan treat.  They nicknamed me Mummy Donut and called themselves the donutters.

On Tuesday they presented me with a laminated Certificate of Achievement for being The Best Donut Supplier.  All signed  from donuters with kisses.  We have it framed.

We made them happy they were happy, they ate happy, they had fun doing the Certificate, we were really chuffed.  All very very silly but lots of smiles all round  for a year or so and all from one bag of donuts..

That will do for me!!!!

I think the horse is a very noble animal, quite like dogs but hate cats with a vengeance, can’t understand why anyone could like an animal that kills for pleasure, then again as Megabear says each to their own.

Harsh words.Cats must be psychic when they all q up to spray over your prize rose bush☺️.

Gemma was cremated too. She was also in an oak box, with her name on a brass placque on the top. We kept her in a drawer for a whiile, and she now resides under her favourite apple tree where she used to rest after her long walks or have a sleep out of the sun.

We never had another dog bro, Gemma was our first and last.

When our last dog Sandy crossed the rainbow bridge our vets sent us a card and some forget-me-not seeds to plant, a lovely gesture.

One of the other vets at the practice has just telephoned me to offer her condolences and to reassure me we did the right thing for Casper.

Reading this thread this morning ,shows how even just reading about all of you and

your losses can and does bring a lump in my throat .

The love ,the loss can be felt even over the internet by us all .

We had dogs as I was growing up and others as my kids grew up too and I am

proud to say the all broke my heart when they departed this earth but they are

with me , especially on days like today .

Even a dog that wasn't even mine ,will never leave my thoughts ...

It was about 1963 when I was 7 year old that as playing with other kids I grew

up with I got to meet RIngo . Think their Mum and dad  were Beatles fans .

As we grew up Ringo was there by our sides playing in the street or sat  on

the bankins watching the steam engines roll by .

13-14 years rolled by and us kids had grown up and gone our separate ways

in life . One day whilst back at mam & dads I spotted Mrs B and asked  about

how my old playmates were doing . She said very well but worked away and

one was in the forces . I then told her how much  I loved playing with  their dog

Ringo .

At this she started to cry and told me he was in a bad way ,cancer  and she

and her husband had no transport and thought he may pass away but just kept

getting worse as time went by .

I put her in my car and drove her home and had a cuppa with her and hubby .

Ringo was on a rug under the kitchen sink and was whimpering a lot and visible

sores on his body . He sniffed my hand and tried to come to me , he had remembered

me . After a while I said "this dog was part of my childhood and I can see he is in a lot of pain ,just as you two are watching him suffer .

"Will you take him for us they said both crying ?" Sure and I will stay with him .

At the Vets I told them what had happened and they could see Ringo in pain

and they put him to sleep in my arms, he looked so peaceful .

A minute or so later gave him the rainbow jab where he took his last breath ,still in my arms .

The good thing was Ringo was not in any pain no more .

Never will I forget Ringo my childhood playmate .

I am starting to worry about our social life having a bad effect on our waist lines.  We have been invited out tomorrow evening to a carvery for a meal with our neighbours, we are going to a wedding on Saturday and DH's younger sister has just emailed me to see if we can meet up with her and her son for lunch on Sunday to celebrate DH's birthday which will be on Tuesday.I

I have a horrible feeling that I will have to join weight watchers to get back into my nice clothes before our next cruise.

I have my three much loved cats and my dad in lovely caskets (long story!). My will stipulates that we are all to go to Austria to be scattered on the mountain in our village where my mother in law is scattered. A small part of my ashes is to be taken on a Cunard Queen to go in the sea off Gibraltar where my mother was scattered in a ceremony organised by them.

Dad threatened me to an eternity of hell if I put him in the ocean as he was terrified of water!
