Our table companions had similar symptoms immediately after Cadiz, tested on Sunday, negative, yesterday positive. Hope you are better soon. Hi Bob Yes just tested on your suggestion and still negative thank goodness, clearly just a beast of a cold.

All 3 of us came down with something on the Friday after Cadiz, all tests were negative. Still got symptons, chesty cough, muzzy head feeling rotten. So the last 2 sea days we stayed on the balcony, not the best end to a cruise but we still enjoyed it. That’s just how I felt after coming of Arvia in July, I kept testing all negative so I put it down to the air conditioning.

purplesea Posted October 4, 2023 #50730 Share Posted October 4, 2023 Now in Sicily, but it didn't go without mishaps🙄 Left hotel at 6 am to get shutttle from Gatwick's north terminal, to go to south for our flight. Arrived at the shuttle and OH realised he'd left his phone in the hotel room, so back I go to reception to get another key, up to 7th floor room, (of course it's furthest from the lifts) to retreive it and back down. Good job I had allowed plenty of time before our flight. Flight arrived on time to nice hot sunny weather😁 so hopefully can now relax, til our return journey! 15
Rare Megabear2 Posted October 4, 2023 #50731 Share Posted October 4, 2023 Interesting day. First session in 12 for Healthy Wiltshire. Now officially banned from all sorts of exciting foodstuffs so I'll need to live vicariously through all your food pictures until mid December. Have had to sign a "contract" to lose 5% of my body weight by then. Went directly from the meeting to the swimming pool and swam 1,500 metres in the vague hope I might earn a bowl of ice cream tonight but my app (ICF is going to love this!) says no way. So to cheer myself up I've just booked two new release Cunard cruises for 2025, one 12 night Norwegian on QM2 and one fly cruise QV. I can see this healthy living is going to prove very expensive if only on cheer up treats.

By the time I'd read your post I had ate my big chip butty ,so sorry no photo's, looks like you will have to wait until tomorrow and Graham may give you another sea view of tasty food .What you need is encouragement from these boards . When it comes to chips ,ice cream ,buns , you have to learn to say NO !! So just remember when you are given a scoop of ice cream and they ask is that enough ? Remember you must say NO !! 🤣 Good luck hope all goes well for you Mega 🙂 7

We arrived at Southampton and handed car over to CPS. My OH then realised no money. searched car and hand luggage, not there. Tried to phone hotel but could not get through. They caught taxi back to hotel and finally got through to reception. The lady went upstairs and found money in room so when OH arrived they rushed in to collect and then caught same taxi back. Meanwhile I’m tracking them on iPhone and they took ages getting back while I waited in Departures. Alls well that ends well. Glad you’re enjoying your holiday and our cruise continued ok.

TBH it looked a bit dry. A squirt of chocolate sauce and a dollop of chocolate ice cream soon sorted that.🤣

Harry Peterson Posted October 4, 2023 #50737 Share Posted October 4, 2023 @Adawn47 Avril, I wondered if you'd listened to this as a Barnsley girl? Many years ago in a pub across the river from craven cottage,a footy fan from oop north had penned on the cloakroom wall " Barnsley bitters best ". Some local lad left him an invitation to pop off back to Barnsley and drink it. Regional literature was alive way back then.🤣

I clicked the link, but couldn't listen to it as not signed in etc, etc. Malcolm Bird is Frank's cousin, if it's the same one, so it would have been interesting. By the way Harry, I'm a Southern girl, born in Staines Middx. We moved to Barnsley when I was 9. I do feel like a Yorkshire lass now though, and proud of it. Avril Sorry Avril, thought you were Yorkshire born and bred! If you remember Eldon Street as it used to be in its heyday, though, you’d enjoy the programme. Just needs a free BBC account to log into. It’s Radio 4, so no TV license needed. I did find some fascinating videos from Barnsley Museums online though, digging about a bit. I gather it’s part of a regeneration programme now, but the programme’s a reminder of just what Barnsley used to be like when the miners were free spenders.

Rare Megabear2 Posted October 5, 2023 #50748 Share Posted October 5, 2023 Beautiful sunny day here, quite chilly at 5.30am but once the sun was up looking great with a high predicted of 19°. Opened my app to see what delights breakfast was going to offer and surprised that 2 bacon rashers, two tomatoes and mushrooms on a slice of wholemeal toast was the offering and half the calories of my normal cereal, soft fruit and yoghurt! At least my food envy won't be quite so bad Looking forward to all those pictures of food to cheer me up later. I very nearly decided to leave the boards for a while after all the going on elsewhere but my desire for food porn has so far got the better of me and it's only days 2. Have a great day wherever you are and whatever you're all doing. 8
