We like the new rental, the location and the view, but have both said we would never choose to live in a construction zone/new build area again. The construction traffic, long hours they seem to work, & trash everywhere make it uncomfortable 😞 Sorry to hear things are not perfect where you are both at presently but hopefully the construction will finish soon. I hope your Nate has made a complete recovery from his operation.

That was long gone when I started working I started my first professional career IT job in 1986. It was a college internship during my senior year. Friday liquid lunch was the norm except during the summer when summer hours were in effect. Getting out of work at 1:00 pm on a summer Friday was a big perk back then. So, Thursday became the new liquid lunch day. Thursday night - also known as Friday Eve - is also a big happy hour night so we'd start drinking at 12 noon, return to the office around 2:30-3:00 to "wrap up work" (ha-ha) and then start slowly drifting away around 4:30-ish to get a head start on the Thursday night festivities. Needless to day, those 4 hour summer Fridays were some of the longest days I had to work. 😉🤕 Anyways, about a month after the internship ended, I was offered a full time job upon graduation which I jump at. It's nice to have a job waiting for you after graduation. Turns out, during my month away, my boss went into rehab which pretty much ended any & all liquid lunches. Looking back, that was probably a good thing.

It feels good to breathe again. I do carry a folded up mask and have a 10 pack in our cars glove box for those few instances where it is still "mandated". I'm not sure of the requirements up in Maine for your Summer trip. Maine is pretty laid back where we are going. We are staying Bar Harbor and north for the almost 4 months. Pretty remote up there. Not expecting the Moose to be wearing them either. 😄 1

The jerk never toke anything, it's what he left behind! 🤢🤬After that we tell the contractor right up front to put in the contract that he is to instruct all his subs our bathrooms are off limits. No ands, ifs or buts. Pun intended. 😁 Bucky ended up doing that as well to the next guys that came to reattach the carpet at the doorway. They were in and out for that quick job in 10 minutes, but sure enough, asked to use the bathroom as soon as they walked in. Bucky walked them out to the driveway and pointed to the obvious community public bathhouse four doors down that they passed on the way in. We learned the hard way when the tile guys that were here for two days prior that, had indeed (before we finally got fed up with it) used the guest bathroom a lot. We had just freshly remodeled the little bathroom with new paint, vanity, sink, etc. But smelled like piss when they left. I had to scrub all the freshly painted walls with baking soda and disinfectant to get that smell out. Apparently their "aim was off" with them. 🤢 Uggh...disgusting. Never again. 😠 We are usually able to do around 99% of the remodel projects ourselves, which avoids those problems...but times like heavy quartz counter tops, and tile flooring...is where we had to bring them in. 😞 Edited May 21, 2021 by island lady

Indeed, it made the trip that much longer for us having to wear a mask all the time, not just the airport, but for the long flight to and back from Florida to CA.

This Covid nightmare has pretty much made me anti-social over the last year as far as "face to face". Relying on non face to face contact like this forum to keep up the social interaction. And no one can see me in my jammies if I get on the computer in the middle of the night when Mr. "Snores a lot" wakes me up. 😄 The trip to Alaska, and the recent trip to CA were rental homes in very remote areas...easier to socially distance than a resort or a cruise. 😉 And of course "cruising" in the RV (AKA Land Yacht) is one of the best ways...but now almost impossible to find RV sites to rent, with RV travel being so popular now. It didn’t take the instructor long to figure out that none of us were making it back from the bar for his class. He quickly adopted the motto of “if you can’t beat them you might as well join them” and held “discussion groups” at the bar One of my college Professors held a class at a local pool hall. Another one invited a group of students to her home for a class on a Saturday.

Smoking, and drinking. I would ask to work 3-11 on weekends just to have Friday's off. Why? Well, every Friday after day shift we all went to the local watering hole and enjoyed "Fluid and Electrolyte rounds" AKA Happy Hour. It would last till about 7pm. Never bought a drink. It was our job to invite the doctors so they would buy the rounds. Left Happy. Then home, quick nap, shower Of for an evening of dancing. Oh to be young again. My wife was an RN in a very high crime area and nobody ever left the hospital except to leave. Some of the nurses were escorted to their cars by security guards.
