I inherited 3 complete sets, for 24, of china, along with sets of silver. It all has to be hand washed and polished so it never gets used. I have terrible memories of spending hours polishing the silver before the holidays. I also have 3 kids so of course each of them was to get a set but none of them want it. Maybe they will change their minds as they are still young. If not, I will sell it and enjoy a nice vacation!

We have two sets of silver, but one is a dinner and lunch set, so that's really two full sets.

Should have sold them in 2011 when silver was around $50. Around $17 now😪

Not much of a market for china

I cannot imagine what those in the mobile home parks go through with every big storm.  So tragic.

I grew up in tornado alley. Mobile home parks are magnets for tornadoes

Yes, that's easy enough. My clarification was for taking a post, pulling out a couple of passages and answering them individually.

Some folks are very adept at that skill

But you kinda need a mouse to do that efficiently

Your original post John .

I can only imagine. God bless you for the work you did

Thanks for your kind words!  Were I person with shorter patience, I'd have never survived working with elementary band kids! You have to constantly stay focused on what the end result will be. Unfortunately the dropout rate was higher than I would have liked, but ultimately no control over that. So glad I got out before covid came along.

He used to be "On The Journey" or something like that. I recognize the writing style. :classic_tongue:

Yep...I'm the same person. Changed the name awhile back. Had what I thought was a good reason at the time but quite honestly I'm already tired of this new one - will probably go back to OTJ if they allow one to change back to an already-used name. So glad you mentioned this - been thinking of contacting them.

Just did...presto chango!    Never really liked "AnyWayIsGood" actually.

I totally get it.  Being an engineer...we also think different.  Most people don't sit at a traffic light and wonder what voltage electricity they use for the lights.

I know I have not thought about that, but I have counted the seconds for timing at certain lights. 😉

Perfection on a plate (and in a glass).  You win food porn for the day.

Thanks, it was pretty tasty. I think I gained 2 pounds.

I am really impressed by marching bands.

I played in a drum line in college. I am a huge fan of DCI. The bands that play every summer in competition are the best of the best. Here is the Santa Clara Vanguard this year.

For drum lines no body is better than the Top Secret Drum Corps from Switzerland. These guys are amazing to watch.

It can be done on my Android mobile phone John.

Graham

Of course it can, just not easy.

FWIW, I was really only suggesting using thanks button vs endless thank you posts and even +1's

Really just a suggestion.

Carry on

OH yeah. Every summer the Blue Devils would come to my hometown and rehearse at our High School for a few days. Since covid they haven't been here. From our house, we could hear them. WOW!!!  They are typically ranked at the top - almost neck-and-neck with Vanguard at times. The first time I thought it might be our local HS band getting ready for fall half-time show.  Didn't take long to realize...NO WAY!! The stuff the percussion line was doing was unreal. Then the brass started...holy cow!!!  Incredible. Their schedule is grueling also.

I can understand what you are saying John.

In certain circumstances like after my heart attack, holiday etc I answered everyone personally because I appreciated the concern.

I use my Android mobile phone for all my posts and reading posts so it is quick to scroll for me but I can sympathise if it takes much longer on a computer to scroll.

What's your point🤔

It was to show what you suggested that you could edit part of a post on a mobile phone and I showed the full post in case anyone was confused.

The Blue Devils and Vanguard are my favorites. Got to watch them many times including when we the DCI Nationals were in Kansas City at Arrowhead Stadium. Our television station was the main sponsor so I got to watch everyone perform in the owners suite. The sound was so incredible, powerful and so moving. It made me cry.

That's interesting. I had no idea that feature existed in new cars? What cars have that? Hybrids?

Pretty sure I said it's possible a few times.

Just not easy for someone with manual dexterity issues.

Really regret saying anything. SMH

Speaking of paper plates...

Might be a question of mentality.

Here in Israel, it is "not done". Using them is frown upon, like "you don't want to invest in hosting people"?? "The dishwashers were invented a long time ago"...., etc.

They're used, mainly, for b'day parties of little ones, when you're sure that otherwise, many items will be broken.

I also own 3 "festive" sets, but I decided, many years ago, to use a Corning set, which is much more durable, and no heart ache if a piece is broken.

Our Toyota Highlander has it.  Depressing the brake fully starts the countdown.

We do basically the same here.  Use the good stuff for hosting, and paper plates for picnics.

We only use paper plates for just us and never for guests. We will use them especially for a lunch sandwich or breakfast. For dinner if I make a meal we will use or dishes and always use dishes for guests.

These are gorgeous!
