Recommended Posts

Our oldest grandson is graduating high school on Saturday, cannot believe how the years have flown by.  He is our first grandchild so I call him Number one! The other five get annoyed🤪His sister graduates grammar school at the end of June and my daughter’s son graduates next Friday.  They could have spaced these kids out better!!!!

Congratulations, Marietta!

How is Charlie doing?  Is he going to be able to make it to all of the graduations?

Charlie is much better.  Fingers crossed he will be at all three.  How are you and your family doing?

That's good too hear, hope he behaves himself and makes all of them! 😄

We are doing well, Mom is doing well physically but is getting really forgetful.  Still can't get her to move closer but aren't pushing it anymore as it upsets her.  I have had a bunch of issues going on but was happy to be able to cruise a few weeks ago and have Odyssey booked for later this year.

Hope you are taking care of yourself too. Can't wait to see graduation pictures. 🙂

Picked this up yesterday.

IMG_1226.thumb.jpeg.94e83f375ad1883750e3949158238414.jpeg

It is a stand alone novel, set in the late 60’s.  I am only 10 chapters in, so I am not sure how it will be.

Anyone read this one yet?

Baldacci is definitely my favorite author, but I wait for it to be in paperback before buying have read all his novels.

Here are some pictures from bar-bill yesterday wife didn’t want to do it today but will do it again tomorrow before we go to the airport. Wings and beef on wick are the best . Have an appointment with a doctor who is a hand specialist for my wife on Friday in our suburb.

@Coralc  Pat, kindle is on "sale" - 10.99$.

@h20skibum  Mark, you picked my interest.

On Amazon it has raving reviews, 76% gave it 5*.

Waiting for your "verdict" and noted it in my list. I'm not sure that in my current "mood" I'll read it in the next couple of months. Seems a serious and important subject.

Lately, I've read lots of Nora Roberts' romantic novels for a light mood and to cheer me up -- Identity and Whiskey Beach were excellent, as well as Sophie Kinsella's "Party crasher"....

Congratulations on Number one grandson's Graduation.  The timing of your grandchildren's Graduations resemble mine somewhat.  Last year we had one College Graduation, two High School Graduations, and one 8th grade Graduation.  Next year, I will have one College Graduation, one High School Graduation, and one 8th grade Graduation.  And so on, and so forth.  Every two years we have, and will have, multiple graduations.🎓

We've had two birthdays in our house, but haven't had birthday cake yet!  These boys are so busy, they haven't been around for us to really celebrate!  Jack turned 17 on Sunday, and was at a friend's barbeque, and today Ryan turned 15.  He came home from school, went back for Band practice, came home again, and left for Wrestling.

Jack went for his road test on Tuesday, and passed!  That makes 5 of my 7 grandchildren who now drive.

I went to the eye surgeon on Tuesday for the Laser treatment on my left eye.  I was concerned that the huge stye on my eye might be a problem, but luckily, it was not.  I was amazed that the Laser lasted perhaps a minute at best, and I didn't feel a thing.  Amazing!

Happy Birthday to Jack and Ryan!

I remember the day my daughter received her driver's license.  Jack and I knew there would be some sleepless nights in our future!  May your Jack and all your other grands who drive, have safe journeys.

I was glad to read that you came through your laser procedure with flying colors.  You must be relieved it's over.

@DaniDanielle Marietta, congratulations on your grandkids graduations.  Your family deserves much happiness.

John Grisham just released a new novel, Camino Ghosts.  I get it tomorrow.

I'm going to have to get that.  The Camino Island series is supposed to be based on Amelia Island.

Rather than clutter the World Cruise thread, I thought I'd post this here instead.  The World Cruise just had to skip a stop at Luderitz, Namibia due to fog.  Someone who had been there before mentioned that there's an old mining ghost town near there.  Naturally, I had to fire up Google Maps and find it.  Anyone else have that weird problem of finding things on Google Maps?  Anyway, it's called Kolmanskop (or Kolmanskuppe).  It was a diamond mining town that quickly formed in 1908 when diamonds were discovered and was abandoned in 1956.  The reason that I mention it here is because the pictures on the website look a lot like some of the scenes from the TV series Fallout that I recently watched.  Here are a couple of examples:

Sure enough, a little research tells me that many of the wasteland scenes from Shady Sands were filmed at Kolmanskop.   Looks like an interesting place to visit.
