Good morning and Happy New Year to everyone from Sydney, Australia.

For New Year’s Eve, DH took me to the Sydney Opera House to see Michael Sheen perform in Amadeus.  First photo is a promo photo from the OH official page.

At intermission, we could go out on the balcony and watch the 9pm fireworks.1DE71542-F04A-43D0-9217-D364FDDEE2D4.thumb.jpeg.5ad20ca9e32583508d82b78d391f4394.jpeg

We were seated on the aisle so it was easy for me to quietly sneak out 10mins before intermission and get a spot at the railing for an excellent view (sorry the photos are a not the best).

I think we rushed it a little was our problem, we didn't wait long enough for the icing to set before putting the candies on. Next year we will do better 🙂

My daughters and grandchildren have been using glue guns for the gingerbread houses to speed things up in building the houses.  No one eats the gingerbread houses anyway, am I right?

Amadeus finished at 11pm.  The cast got rapturous applause (photos in previous post).  We then had an hour til the midnight fireworks.  This time I was further back from the railing on the balcony  so DH decided to scope out another spot.  Meanwhile, 4 young German glamazons who must have been 6’4’ each, squeezed in front of me.  So, I gladly agreed to move when DH returned.

MJ, we are still traveling.  I don't remember if I mentioned it yesterday,. But after sitting on 95 for over an hour and a half, we made it into SC and made several phone calls to hotels, hoping for a room.  We finally got one, thankfully.  We already had reservations for the 30th since we knew where we wanted to stay.  MapQuest said it would be 5 hours to our last hotel.  9 and a half hours later we made it to Gainesville FL.  We were in bumper-to-bumper for the entire states of SC and Ga and all of i-95 in FL.  We have made this trip for the past 22 years...this trip was by far the very worst.  Luckily our stay T the Drury Hotel was wonderful!

We are now about 2-3 hours from the Condo

Thank you for asking!🥰

Here is our newest addition...Petey

He's about 7 or 8 months old and is part Manx and domestic tabby.

We picked him up last Monday from same shelter Sparky and Eva came from.  He hid the first 2 days.  Now he won't sit still long enough for a decent photo. 20221229_071514.thumb.jpg.eee8700f3a2c0a0902ea48f2dd48b883.jpg

other than nap time.

I know I am a little early with this, but it will be a busy day and evening for us.  Was surprised the sand sculptures we did yesterday were still intact and pretty well defined.  Everyone walking by had to stop for a picture.

So today, the early birds were just working on a sign in the sand.

Tonight, we have reservations at Bubba Gump’s, then we are cruising on the Jungle Queen for the Holiday Light Show.

Wishing everyone a safe and Happy New Year.

And thanks again to Dani for this thread.  May it keep going strong in 2023.

Wishing everyone a Happy New Year.

It’s 12:30 pm and Mike is still sleeping. He normally never sleeps this late. Curious if there was a problem with his flight last night to make him that tired. He was supposed to fly down to South America Thursday night, but there were problems. This is one of the texts I got from him that night. 🤬 “The airplane is brand new… 1st revenue flight, and the problems are endless.” They ended up canceling the flight so he came back home. The flight left the next morning. Glad they were able to make it back today so he is off tonight. 🥂 🍾 🎉
