Then they continue in the article to say that they are raising funds, and looking forward to the future.  Unfortunately, many people don't get past the sensationalist headlines 😞

I guess it wouldn't have sold as many clicks if they'd said:

"Norwegian Cruise Line looking for ways to continue and expand business..."

Spot on, all the cruiselines are in the same boat.  Will be interesting today I think RCL is giving earnings.  Here your going to here pretty much same thing as NCL said. People just react and read sensationalized headlines.

Carnival owns a lot but not NCL. News story just on CNBC: NCL just raised enough money to last a year without revenue. Funny how the story changes!

Happy for NCL but I fear all the cruise lines are in danger right now.  Really the entire travel industry - airlines, hotels, travel agencies....

Localised alright but with population of 4 or 5 times that of the US China had less than 5,000 deaths compared to with 71,000 deaths and growing in the US..  I think that  if there were vastly more deaths in China and in other regions US intelligence would have picked up on it.  Leads me to believe there has been massive mismanagement of the situation in the US and particularly as the country had more time than most to prepare.  I love the US but have no intention of travelling there any time soon.

Perhaps some of those numbers (outside the US) are under reported.

I have yet to read anywhere how Celebrity or the Royal group may change shipboard life in light of this pandemic.

Are there plans to reduce the passenger load on ships, keeping inside and oceanview cabins empty as they test the waters?

Disposable menus, spacing of dining room tables, no self serve options.

I just read on the RCL board that TA's were informed that crew would be required to wear masks.  The thread speculates that passengers will be required to do the same.

RC and Celebrity definitely need to improve their communication to passengers about their short and long term plans.  If I am required to wear a mask for a cruise, count me out!!

Same for us!  In fact, we won't get on a ship until we've read some reviews from those who test the return to waters first.  Live reviews will be at a premium demand when cruising resumes.

I agree. Too many unknowns right now.....

 

I feel so bad for the crew.  Can you imagine working in that hot galley with a mask?

there's no guarantee that the US numbers are accurate.

 

Unfortunately, the world is in a mess and nobody really knows what they are doing. This is unchartered territory and it is a matter of trial and error in all countries.

According to a thread recently posted on this forum "we" won't be cruising this year on our September Eclipse cruise out of Vancouver. That will be our third cancelled cruise (none by our choice) this year. Bummer!

Cruise lines may just re-image themselves as online casinos offering Calendar Leapfrog. Isolating cruisers get to keep moving thousands of dollars from cruise to cruise to future months on the calendar, and they win when they actually land on a date when a sailing occurs.

 

Of course, to collect their win cruisers will have to decide if it is safe to do so. Or, if the earliest ones are too soon, they enter the bonus game of Virus Roulette.
