meatball_nyc Posted May 6, 2020 #5 Share Posted May 6, 2020 I’m glad that I never made final payment on my Encore, July 5th, 2020 Bermuda cruise. But Me and my family are happy and healthy..so far so good. We will become farmers instead of cruisers, for now... In an initial statement, the company said it planned to “resume cruises” on the eight ships “beginning August 1.” In a second statement, the company played down the possibility of an Aug. 1 start date, saying that “any resumption of cruise operations — whenever that may be — is fully dependent” on discussions with government officials. A spokesman for Carnival Cruise Line, Chris Chiames, said in a separate email that the exact reopening date would be subject to change. “There is no assurance of a return on Aug. 1,” Mr. Chiames said. “Our intent was to convey that we will take a phased-in approach, no matter when that it is, and focus resources and new protocols on a limited number of operations.” https://www.nytimes.com/2020/05/04/business/coronavirus-carnival-cruises-returning.html Edited May 6, 2020 by SeaHunt

LaCal Posted May 6, 2020 #18 Share Posted May 6, 2020 I know Carnivals already said “Some ports” in California won’t have any cruises in August.....I think September on we’ll see cruises start back at a slow pace and then gear up based on how the first ones go and did anymore outbreaks of the virus happen on any ships
Trimone Posted May 6, 2020 #19 Share Posted May 6, 2020 Board meeting _ How can we get some cash in? What about being first to announce we are sailing August 1st ** Hey everyone who wants a cruise will go for it ! $$$$$ and if they want their money back we’ve got it for 90 days.... The End
Brad1185 Posted May 6, 2020 #20 Share Posted May 6, 2020 Will not happen until sometime in 2021 unless every passenger gets tested before boarding and the cruise only has sea days with no ports

I certainly hope that you are correct, it's pretty hard to predict at this point. I have a November cruise that I think has a pretty good chance of being cancelled, but I certainly hope that it doesn't happen. My wife's work has travel restrictions until August 31st, if either of us leave the state they have to approve her being able to come back to work, they could ask her to self-quarantine for 14 days. As i have suspect and this video reiterates, southern north american ports have the best odds .
