Final payment isn't for another year.
tupperstamper Posted July 23, 2020 #4 Share Posted July 23, 2020 We just booked a Hawaii cruise for Jan. 2022 and used a cruise next certificate. Figured why not.

I called NCL yesterday and had them "reprice" it under the new promo. The underlying cruise fare hadn't changed price (I had verified that first on my own via ncl.com). They quickly did the reprice and it added the $100 OBC to both cruises. Granted, when I booked the cruises, I was using up existing Cruise Next Certificates and not laying out more cash up front. I probably wouldn't be booking any new cruises at this point that require me to give cash. My final payments aren't due till June 2021 and that is when I will decide if the situation is safe enough to lay out more cash to keep the cruises. Also, as pointed out to me on another thread, the current promo does not include the "Free Gratuities" that were on the previous promo for balcony cabins and above. Since I'm booked in an inside cabin, I didn't have the free gratuities to worry about. I'll take $200 anytime someone wants to give it to me. Until your final payment is due, it's easy to have them reprice to get a better value promo. Just be aware of what you might LOSE by different promo terms as well. I plan on calling my PCC today to add or change my 2021 and 2022 bookings for the OBC. Like you I have two b2b's that were booked with FCC and cruisenexts so I am not having to put any $$ toward them.

Sand and Seas Posted July 23, 2020 Author #9 Share Posted July 23, 2020 In light of other cruise-lines announcing cancellations into winter and spring, I find it interesting that NCL is encouraging us to book in April or later. Much better to have a happy cruiser in April with OBC than a cancelled cruiser in February or March.

I have suites booked on two B2B 5-day cruises, so I just swapped the previous promo (prepaid service charges valued at $92.50 each leg) to $600 OBC on each leg. 😁 Edited July 23, 2020 by pcakes122

April: Can't help but think this is NCL's feeling about when they can accept bookings with a strong sense of not having to cancel them in the coming months.
GrumpyGreyWizard Posted July 23, 2020 #12 Share Posted July 23, 2020 Hello! Long time listener, first time caller. This promo persuaded me to sign up for a solo TA in November 2021, which will be my second-ever cruise. My first cruise was a Baltic ports cruise about 8 years ago. I found then that I perversely enjoyed being on ship more than being in port, because it enforces relaxation - I generally struggle to relax properly if there are Things To Do. Really looking forward to having nothing more to do than put my feet up and sip a g&t. I’ve only put £100 down, so what’s the worst that could happen?
GreenValleyDogWalker Posted July 24, 2020 #13 Share Posted July 24, 2020 We were scheduled for a Transatlantic to sail in April 2020 - which, of course was cancelled. We requested, and received (took about 1 month) 125% FCC. We quickly used part of that FCC to book another TA in April 2021 - with all of the perks - even had about $3,000 left over FCC - used to partially pay for an Alaska cruise in 2022 We've booked a couple of ship's shore excursions (Iceland) and also some private tours with ToursByLocals (all fully cancellable - which, I sure hope we don't have to do !) Air travel booked using Frequent Flyer miles Trying very hard to be optimistic that by April 2021 this mess will all be settled and that we will be able to sail

I can't rebook on this promo sadly as my April TA is $1000 higher pp in balcony, I'd end up losing a bundle lol. Edit: OH WOW just checked, I paid $1845 pp for balcony, It is now $3529pp for balcony. So glad I booked this back in January Edited July 25, 2020 by njkate
Rare All-ready2cruise Posted July 25, 2020 #16 Share Posted July 25, 2020 I think a lot of us booked on the Jade in April are hoping things improve enough for cruises to start up again. Fingers crossed we'll meet up on the TA and, for some of us, the TPA > NYC cruise, as well.

I'm more concerned about our 7 day Eastern out of Miami on the Joy Jan 10, 2021. Not expecting things in Miami to improve enough by then. At least we have 7 weeks until final payment for that one...

Yes, I was worried about our January out of New Orleans. I called and transferred the Cruise Next deposits from that one to a cruise further out. I'm not going to do any final payments until we have that vaccine ready. I think this 'April or later' offer shows that NCL is worried about cruises before Spring at the earliest.
