Has anyone received anything for free on Carnival, just by asking for it

He found out I was on an upcoming Carnival cruise a few days prior to embarkation for me back in a December. He did arrange for a very kind welcome back gesture. He obviously knows Carnival isn’t my preference but was surprised and joyful to see I was booked on one.

@JH because I know you’re going to see this, thanks again!

How will he know who you are from your nickname X disconnections

We have a history together. It’s actually quite extensive.

Friend of mine dropped two grand in the casino on the first night of a Carnival cruise a few years back.  On the last day he received a plate of chocolate chip cookies and note from the casino.  His wife wasn't amused.  Took one bite and told my buddy she always wondered what a $500 dollar cookie tasted like.

I remember it being the opposite. High quality used  cards in the casino with a hole punched through for $1.00. Cards with Carnival logo free at GS.

In Sept of last year (seems like a lifetime ago, now) we got our cards at guest services free of charge.  Carnival logo.

Glad to hear that they are free of charge again. It might have just been the ship I was on that charged. Or perhaps another line LOL.

When doing B2B they used to give a fruit basket and bottle of wine.

Does anyone remember the vouchers we were sent after sending snail mail to Carnival with comments about our cruise? I remember there were 4 vouchers and could be exchanged for a drink under $5 or a bottle of wine. This is many years ago.

On the Breeze, after 4 nights of no sleep, due to loud music left on all night, at full blast in the EMPTY piano bar below, we were given without asking or begging:

Steakhouse Dinner & Cucina Dinner.

Spa Passes for the rest of the Cruise

They paid for all of our excursions, even gave OBC for ones booked elsewhere.

We had 2 visits to the ship Dr, DH for a bad toothache & me for a nasty bug bite of some kind from Key West, all were paid.
A bottle of cheap bubbly and a small cake were delivered to the cabin. As were fruit & cookies the next day.
Our gratuities were also paid for us.

The hotel director had us summoned to her office, apologized profusely for the music being left on.
She then rattled off this list and asked us if there was anything else she could possibly do for us. LOL
We were impressed with how this cruise from hell had been handled in the end.
We floated out of her office.

I have received a few things without asking were two $50 spa gift cards.  One I received when I cruised right before my birthday and another I received for no known reason. I also received a coupon for the candy store.  I think the coupon was for $5. I ended up spending $14, so that was a win for Carnival.  I would never have spent anything there without the coupon.

I have never asked for anything for free from a cruise line.  However, on one of my cruises I was on a Quest team that was one of the winners.  Our team got an assortment of prizes, but my husband and I chose not to take anything so the younger people in our group could have them.  There wasn't enough for everyone. I passed up getting a ship on a stick and I might send John a message before my next cruise asking if it's possible I could get one.  I have no problem purchasing it.  It's just something I have wanted and actually "earned" at a game.

I was on the Breeze TA several years ago and they had run out of SOAS for trivia prizes. We were given signed photos of the CD staff.  Not the same LOL. Would gladly have purchased one too.

Perhaps I should ask John.

I like free stuff, and I don't like paying for things.  If I could have a free car just by asking for it, I'd have two.  I've got no problem whatsoever with people asking Big Daddy for a little something special for their cruise.  He certainly isn't put off by it, and I'm not either.

We’ve been treated very well. But, we don’t talk about it; believe me, no one appreciates hearing ab it. We don’t  ask for gifts or favors, so it feels extra thoughtful. I always write a follow up thank you note. We don’t use the casino.

What ship? If it’s one I sailed on, I can mail you one. Just let me know.

I am pretty sure it was when I cruised on Carnival's Pride out of Baltimore.  I remember it being in the same lounge as karaoke and Pride's karaoke announcer was the best we've ever had on a cruise ship.  There were several teams that won.  Our team had a large group of people who appeared to be in their 20s, so there wasn't enough of the prizes for everyone.

Haven’t sailed on the Pride before so I can’t help you if it was, sadly. My ships on a stick have all been sitting in a box untouched for 7 years.

Quest is always fun. Haven’t seen it on Carnival but I’d imagine it’s the same as Royal. Princess tried it on a cruise once but it was a bust and nobody showed up for it lol

Thank you for the offer.  That was very kind of you!  I've played bingo a couple of times on ships and won some prizes, but never won a ship on a stick.  I really don't participate in other games because I don't like the attention.  Quest is fun.  The last time we only watched and it was the hardest I ever laughed anywhere.  I know that what goes on during a Quest games stays in that Quest game. haha.

Carnival's Quest shows have always been packed and very entertaining for those who aren't easily offended. They are the same as Royal's.  We went to Royal's on Liberty of the Sea and the ice skating rink show area was packed.  Hilarious.

Quest is pretty awesome so I’m glad to see Carnival started offering it as an activity since I switched cruise lines.

It’s my pleasure, really. If I could have made someone’s day who I have talked with for years on CC, it would have meant a lot. I had a thing for trivia at the time and built up quite the collection.

Years ago my special needs dd used to get "picked" (after husband would speak to bingo presenter) to go up and check to make sure all the bingo balls were there.  She would then be awarded a ship on a stick.  Truthfully, that would be the only way in the world she would ever get one, as she would never be able to win one in any contest. She was soooo happy to get "picked" each time out of the hundreds in the audience.   Each time we were on a "new" CCL ship we had not sailed on before she would get one - not on a repeat ship.   When the bingo "checker" job went away, I would send a note to whatever cd was on our "new" ship, and they would always send a ship on a stick her way.  She has now been on 26 CCL cruises with us - 14 days short of Diamond status - (and a number of Disney and NCL's also) and is so sad our last 2 cruises were cancelled due to the pandemic.

Quest is one of our don’t miss events when cruising on Carnival or RCI. While I think both cruise lines do a great job with this game, I think RCI is better for one reason...video replay. Every Quest we have attended on an RCI ship has been held in Studio B, where they use the video capability to show replays of what just happened. Watching replays, often in slow motion, has had me in tears more than once from laughing so hard. That is something I have never witnessed on Carnival. On the other hand, several times on Carnival the CD has told everyone not to use cell phones/cameras to take pictures or videos during the game.

I've been thinking about my answer. I used to work for the Virginia Lottery in the Hampton Roads office. My job was to pay any winner who has a winning ticket of $600 or more (Maybe $601. It was a long time ago). When a winner came in, we'd print out the check and also grab something from the back like a lottery keychain, ball cap, pen, mug, t shirt and so forth. Occasionally, I'd get someone come up to the counter and ask for something free. These people knew we had give-away stuff and they had expectations that they could get something anytime they asked for it. I had one player exclaim that he'd spent so much on the lottery they owed him that much. Another player stated he'd played enough that the lottery could hire his daughter. These people were simply selfish and rude, imo.

On the other hand, if I'm looking to book a cruise and I'm shopping for a TA, I will ask a number of them for a quote "with any additional benefits" for the cruise I had in mind. That has produced some extras in the past. I don't have any expectations of Carnival that they should give me a bunch of stuff because I've spent so much on their cruises over the years.

Small world... my BF works as a sales merchandiser for the Virginia Lottery in the Hampton Roads area!

Mom's been given the blue cabin towels and a huge, fluffy blanket. Not too sure why we each received a towel, except that it was our 'millionth' time with the same crew.  Mom complained of being freezing (it was beyond freezing), when we came back to the cabin there was a nice note on top of a brand new blanket.  Trouble is we pack extremely light with 19-22" suitcases.  Lots of luggage Tetris with those.

I've only received one of the Brunch Juices for free on one of our recent cruises.  We had sailed with the MD many times.

Adding on-- we did get a pre-dinner tasting once.

On a Celebrity thread, so many people have received tons of free goodies and gifts.

So I thought of starting the same on Carnival

As we booked concierge class, we got free stuff delivered to the cabin every night.  It was always a surprise.

On Carnival, I got some strawberries delivered to my cabin when they lost and then found my dry cleaning, which was delivered to the wrong cabin.

Other than that, if you post on John Heald's facebook page your sailing and your cabin, he will arrange to have something delivered to your cabin.
