Now worried about our Early Jan 2021 cruise....

After our May & Aug cruises were cancelled, thought when we rebooked during the summer that 2nd week of Jan 2021 would be far out enough, that'll there'll be a few months of cruising at end of this year to work out all the kinks of restarting.

Now that Carnival MAY restart cruising in Jan,  not sure our 2nd week of Jan is a good idea.

Final payment is coming up in 3 weeks.

We're in Houston, so sailing out of Galveston is great, with no airline flights to worry about.

Looking at pushing it back a few months, but prices are much higher now.

Got great pricing last year for 8th Deck balcony, but had to pay extra $ to downgrade to 7th deck interior in Jan.

Now prices are even higher Feb - May, & prices are doubled for balconies, as very small chance we'll be stuck 2 extra weeks onboard in an interior cabin.

If Carnival didn't already bait us with nice OBC....

Idk that pushing it back a few months much help. If you push it back, I'd push it into 2022.

I'm not even in a balcony, and think the price I'm paying is sky high. It's all those with obc pushing up the prices and selling off ships so fewer and fewer berths.

It's going to take more than a few months to get enough people vaccinated as to not be helpful to just push it back a few months... just my opinion. No one knows how long before a semblance of normalcy.

Jan 2021 is likely too early. Even with a safe and effective vaccine approved by Nov there will not be sufficient quantities for general distribution before some time in 2021 and some of the candidates require two shots one month apart.

Why are you worried? Carnival will return to Galveston on January 1. Have some faith — it’ll be a wonderful way to welcome 2021.

I wouldn’t think twice on this.

Lol you say this every month and it gets canc. I think you are bad luck, hahahahaha.

I agree.  Did considerable review of future 2021 cruises and came to the conclusion that it may pay to cancel my 1/9/2021 Horizon cruise now and book another Horizon cruise in May.  That would give about another 7 months for matters to clear up.  I do not like to book later than that because then you are in the hurricane season until the end of November and I already have a January 2022 cruise booked.  It may pay to wait until my final payment date in 3 weeks to get the $600 on board credit if the cruise is cancelled.  Then again, if the cruise is on, we would be one of the first cruises to sail and there is the possibility of many problems (new crew, new meal set ups, masks, etc).  I lean towards doing the change immediately because there are not that many  cabins available what with the 75 percent capacity rule.  Based on my findings, the prices are about $100 to $150 more on the Horizon for a 8 days cruise.

Another issue I have is that my TA Company is nearly shut down and are taking days to answer.  I am doing this all by myself.  I called Carnival about this and they said if no action is taken by them, to call in 2 weeks and they will resolve the issue.

This will be my 24th Carnival cruise and I have never experienced any thing near this.

I think this is a unique experience for everyone, whether it is their 1st cruise on Carnival or their 100th cruise on Carnival.  Personally I think cruises should be allowed to resume November 1st with no more no sail orders. However, I think there are a lot of factors that will likely keep that from happening.

My mom and I have a B2B in January from New Orleans(1/10/21 & 1/17/21) that I booked 11/15/18.  I booked the same cabin that my parents had on their 20th anniversary cruise on the Conquest out of Galveston.  The first cruise is the same itinerary as their anniversary cruise.  On my first cruise(6/15/02), I screamed like a little girl when stingrays brushed my leg.  I want to redeem myself in Grand Cayman.

I used the $150 FCC and $300 OBC from my canceled 8/17/20 cruise on the Inspiration on the first cruise.  My final payments dates aren't until 12/11/20 and 12/18/20.  If they are canceled, I will move the FCC and OBC from both cruises to my 1/15/22 cruise out of Ft Lauderdale.  I would have $1,300($600 + $600 + $100) in OBC.  I didn't put the FCC and OBC on my 6/21/21 cruise on the Radiance because I already had enough cash.

I need the miles and hotel points from the 4 pre and post cruise hotel stays in New Orleans and Ft Lauderdale(likely taking Amtrak from New Orleans) to put toward my London and Disneyland Paris trip in November 2021/2022.

I don't have any confidence that my B2B will happen.  Being canceled would suck.

All cruises in the 1st quarter may be in jeopardy. Even though the current White House administration overruled the CDC. A new adminstration will be more friendly to the CDC and reinstate the suspension of cruising until February of 2021. As much as I would like to go on a cruise (credits on file at carnival), I am waiting until later in 2021 to book.

I might not be understanding but you cant stack 2 obc for $600 for rebooking together, but maybe one $600 obc is from a different source?

Yes I pushed all mine ahead so I'm jammed up from dec 2021, jan 2022, feb 2022, march 2022 b2b. I pushed a lot ahead. I just pushed my feb b2b ahead a year.,april 2020 is first now. Didnt feel good about jan or feb.

I'm not saying you're wrong, but can you please post a source for that?

I dont have a copy of the last time I was canc of small print, but you can search other posts and never could before. The $600 obc is to rebook. One you rebook you cant rebook the same cruise you're already rebooked on and get another $600, but you are welcome to try adding it to a already booked cruise once you rebook and take the $600.

I'm having doubts about April 2021

I have an NLC booked for April also.  I just booked it about a week ago, knowing that it's more likely for me not to sail than sail (no vaccine, no cruise...only cruise sponsored shore excursions, no cruise).

IDK, but with all the restrictions, unless someone wants to sit quietly and read a book, I don't see the point of sailing until "it's normalized" somewhat.

Another issue....casinos have just opened up locally.  But, 75% if the slots are turned off....and there's only 1 machine for a lot of games.  Unless you get there early, you don't play what you want.  Now, picture this on a ship.  Whoopie...I just found a  major "turn off" for "Cruising With Covid".

I agree, the cruise industry has put a lot safety protocols in place and the risks are well known.  In most cases, you will be safer on a ship than most hotel rooms.

My Costa April 2021 has been cancelled. Re-booked for December 2021.

Maryann, are you on the Legend TA 2021? I have many booked for 2021, thinking my January bookings may not make it. It's a wait and see game at this point.

That's the way it has worked for me both times.  My first cruise in April was cancelled. I rebooked for September and got a $600 OBC for rebooking.  That cruise was cancelled.  I rebooked for January and got a $600 OBC for rebooking.  I did not get any benefits from my cancelled cruise.  They cancelled everything.  I used a new rate to rebook.  Then they cancelled my January cruise, so I rebooked for April and got a $600 OBC.

When a cruise is cancelled, that's it.  They cancel everything and then when you rebook, you rebook with a new rate.  You get the OBC for rebooking the cancelled cruise, not a $600 OBC cumulative for every time your cruise is cancelled and rebooked.

Yes, I had 800 obc last time 750 this time. Only myself to blame as I went for a closer in date that was much cheaper. Less incentive to book this last time and higher prices. 860 for a 1A and now its 900 and I didnt do a TBA pax, and someone may want to be added.

Hoping prices drop before sept 2021. Top of hurricane season and I'm paying what?

We have one booked for Jan 28, 2021. We booked it over 2 years ago. We booked one back in April for July & when it was canx they pushed me into taking OBC for the Jan cruise instead of a refund. Now I'm worried this one will be nixed as well. I want a refund plus all that OBC as cash refunded to me, but I highly doubt that will happen. I'm extremely frustrated by the whole thing.
