7+ Day Cruise Cancellation Refund

Just checking if anyone who was booked for a cruise 7+ days in 2021 that was subsequently cancelled - have you received your refund yet?

I don't want to give Princess more money while I'm waiting for a refund but I haven't seen anyone on the boards mention if they have/have not received the refund.

We had a 14-day Alaska 2021 cruise cancelled by Princess on November 23, 2020.  We have not seen any money yet and expect it will be a while before we are refunded.  Last time we went through all the cancellations it took quite a while before our refund was processed.  Unfortunately, I think it will be the same for this go around.

I was canceled but in that cruisers have until Thursday (12/31/20) to submit forms, I doubt there will be any movement until mid January. 1st time i was canceled  (Grand March 22nd b2b) it took 5 months, last 2 times (August & September) it took 2 weeks. Will be interesting to see how long it takes with mass cancelations now

I had my March cruise canceled and decided to leave it for the additional 25% back in FCCs as it was paid for with gift certificates.  I see that the FCCs do have an expiration and the gift cards do not but the original amount is refundable back to the form of payment (so back on the gift card) if not used by the time the FCCs are expired.  Now, if you requested a refund, you could have done that anytime after the announcement but, if you are just asking for the FCCs, they aren't even starting to process those until 2021.  Now I am sure others have had other experiences but, this was what I was told by both my travel agent and a rep down at Princess.  I may have gotten bad information (and I am feeling like I did) but both said pretty much the same thing.

My March 2021 cruise on Star was cancelled (ship sold as opposed to length of voyage) and I'm happy to say that my refund has already been received (minus $200 that was FCD - now expired so not sure if a cheque will be mailed?)

Sounds like things went smoother than the last round of reimbursements.

Our May, 2021 10-day Inside Passage cruise was cancelled in Nov. by Princess.  We had only paid a deposit on this one, as our two scheduled 2020 cruises were part of the 1st big "pause" in March.  (Waited more than 4 months for those refunds/FCC's to be resolved).

Now have a May, 2022 10-day Inside Passage make-up cruise on hold.  Princess let us book it without a deposit since we already had a deposit on the 2021 cruise.  Was told by the Princess rep that the amount of that deposit can be used for the 2022 sailing after they "build" the refunds/FCC's for this latest pause....wasn't quite sure about this, but our cruise personalizer shows we have until Feb. to make a payment.

BTW--the original cancelled 2021 Alaska cruise still shows in our account.  Hoping things will be clarified after the new year.

Based on my experience from the last "big" cancellation event, my cruise stayed in my personalizer until I received my refund and then it fell off.

I had Princess cancel 2 cruises bookings in late October, and I cancelled one.  The refunds arrived within 56 - 60 days, which is pretty much what they tell you.  I checked on all of them after 30 days just to make sure they were being processed, and they were.

We had a 7 day cruise April 2020 cancelled, and a 14 day Alaska cruise for July 2020 cancelled, both were booked by the casino department.

we have not had anything refunded yet.  I have had three conversations with the casino department and they said it would be 60 days.  Once I have been refunded, we will rebook for 2022.

  • 3 weeks later...

In case anyone was wondering, I ended up receiving my refund on January 12th (according to the posting date) but it was updated on January 15th on my account for Chase.

Much, much better turnaround time than last year.

We have a 7-day Alaskan cruise scheduled for Labor Day 2021 which we are hopeful for, but a more realistic option is probably late 2021 (like... December) Caribbean.

i had posted on another topic similar to this one.  We got our FCC posted back to our account first of last week and the monies we got Monday of this week.  We have until March to rebook and keep all the perks from the cancelled cruise.  We have until Oct to use the FCC.

Very fast and we are planning to book for early 2022
