The folks around here with breathing difficulties are using oxygen while wearing their masks.

If your doctor won’t put you on oxygen, you should get curbside pickup or home deliveries.   The stores in out county state that if you are unable to wear a mask they will provide curbside delivery. No one is allowed inside without a mask.   Those with breathing problems should not be risking their health.

That's terrific! Win-win.

Perhaps we should point out that there are folks with all kinds of issues that can impact their ability to travel.  Agoraphobia, claustrophobia, thalassophobia, germaphobia,  etc etc.  And yes, there are apparently some folks who have great difficulty wearing a mask.  The airlines have handled this by simply not allowing the non-masked to fly.  Airports have resolved the issue by not allowing the unmasked to even enter the airport.  In many places the unmasked cannot shop, dine out, or even go their physician's office.  While I do have some compassion for those folks who cannot tolerate a mask, that is something they need to overcome or they must deal with the ramifications.

Of course folks can have these kinds of medical problems which could prevent them from traveling.  That they may not be able to travel is unfortunate.  What I don't like is the presumptive comment(s), not you by any means, implying such medical problems are not real or somehow being faked or imagined.

Main stream cruising could be a long way off....

so we will see when we get there....  if or if not masks are required..

Very true, but that isn't the question.  The question posed is would you take a cruise if a mask is required.

I wear masks where required, and sometimes, where not required.  I personally will not take a cruise with a mask requirement in place.  Other threads discuss the mandatory ship excursions that might happen.  I would likely be able to live with that but just would not enjoy a cruise if I have to wear a mask all the time.  All just personal preference of course.

I never wear a mask because that is never required here. I should wear a mask if it was required if I couldn't avoid the situation. Cruising is something I can avoid so I will not cruise as ong as masks are required.

What I WOULD like to see is that people have consulted their physician to see if there's a solution other than to never travel again.

How did you know that I had an appointment with my PCP on Monday?  We discussed that very issue,

Speaking of masks we have been somewhat surprised by what we have seen today.  Because of the lack of cruise opportunities we booked a week in a high-end  All Inclusive near Cancun and arrived today.  Once inside the double gated grounds we quickly noticed that very few guests where masks.  The staff generally wears face shields (no masks).   To be very honest it feels completely normal in this resort although they are complying with capacity restrictions (I think it is 60%) and some social distancing between tables in most venues.   Outside of the resort the Mexicans in the Cancun area seem to be more compliant with masking then we have seen back home.

Couldn't you just use the word "nice" instead of "high-end"? I think we all know how you travel.

I noticed Monday that only one wearing a mask was the medical assistant who began my appointment:  escorting me to the exam room, BP, temperature, and pulse check, "why are you here today" question.  The receptionist and my PCP wore a face shield.

We are making progress in getting out of this mess, I think.

Quite a change from last Spring!

Please remember the rules: no grammar or speling police...there's a difference between nice and high-end

My point was that there's no reason to make the point that it costs a lot. "Nice" is good enough to get the point across.

I get your point; high-end is different from nice; no need to tell someone what they mean. He's a big boy, and can use his own words.

well clo my soon to be Seattle resident, how does the word opulent would send over the edge ?  ☺️

Oh is THAT where you live??? Cool. Do you like dim sum?

I just think braggadocio is uncalled for here - well, honestly, almost anywhere. But that may be because I'm from the South.

You're right and I apologize. Just because it costs a lot doesn't mean it's one bit "nice."

Braggadocio? Far from that. High end is a genteel way of saying opulent. I am southern born and bred, and "nice" is NOT the same...but I'm not here to parse words with you...just let it be. No need to go out of your way to tell others how to behave; that truly isn't etiquette.

Once he stops his constant political comments I'll definitely ease off.

I'm not debating the definition, but you know as well as I do what he meant by it; stop trying to be coy, Clo. It's not ladylike in the least..really it isn't...

Now, getting back to the topic of cruising with or without a mask:

Oh, lord, another ignore candidate. BTW I have zero desire to be "ladylike." Double yuck. It IS the 21st century.
