Apologies Chiliburn, i have made a mistake & posted the incorrect month, i should have said November, not October...November 23 - 30th. Have also tagged the wrong reply initially ( sorry NSWP) , so not having a great night all round with communication.

Where was the cruise going?

It was the music cruise that mr Walker was on ,I think it was to noumea.

The charter company postponed it till 2022.

Thanks, I'm not surprised that one was cancelled.

The next few months will be interesting.

I have some bad news for you.

"After a decade of running music charters on board Royal Caribbean ships, music specialist Choose Your Cruise has scratched its 2021 season and moved to 2022 instead." Source

I just got a email from my agent that over the next few days Royal Caribbean will email me and be offering a cruise credit for bookings in the coming 2021-2022 season.

The email said as a loyal customer  we are letting you know and we invite you to rebook the 2022-2023 season.

That is good that they are giving you plenty of notice that the 21-22 season is a no-go.

So no RCI ships coming over the horizon until October 2022 or thereabouts?

Saw today on FB a copy of an email, with RC extending the validity of FCC's issued for cancelled cruises from the previously extended to date of Apr 30 2022 to now be good for 22-23 season.

That is a worry Neil.

I think that it clearly shows that RC expect at best a short 21-22 season & they are keen to lock-in everyone's money rather than refunding, or alienating their customer by not, by extending the timeframe for use. I am hopeful of perhaps a Xmas/New Year start for RC in Aus.

We already have a Celebrity Cruise in Mar/Apr, so to fit in a  cruise to use our FCC before Apr 30 '22 was looking difficult. If we can use it for season 22-23 it would be good.

If things are not up & running by Sept/Oct '22 I think the whole industry will be rooned.

I agree, rooned? Take the n out and insert a t mate. My son mr chimu is driving ubers, no business in south america, central america or antarctic or arctic travel, which was their domain, pre covid..

desperate times.

This is interesting when RCI are still advertising cruises for sale in Australia from October 21 thru to March/April 22 ………… if what your agent says is true, don’t you think it is unethical for RCI (or any cruise line) to continue taking deposit $$.

And only “loyal customers” are privy to the information you were emailed??

Please let us know if or when RCI do email you with this information and offer/s.

Cheers.

The cruises are just about booked out maybe they are looking for volunteers to be bumped???

Fair Trading NSW would be interested in this. Smells of deception by Royal Caribbean.

I don't agree it's unethical sell a cruise if the intention is to cruise if possible, if not on the advertised date, at future date. It's business. They need cash flow to literally stay afloat.

It would be unethical to me if,

1, they refuse to refund if the booked cruise is cancelled by them or

2, They are knowingly trading while insolvent.

I can understand people booking and paying a deposit because when cruising restarts they are in the box seat and have avoided the inevitable rush.

Personally, I would wait until cruises have restarted before booking anything and then, it would depend on ports as I wont cruise to nowhere.
