Where are they going to get the staff? There is already a shortage of staff here in OZ.

Home Affairs haven't got a clue about what is happening in the real world here. If restaurants and hotels can't get enough staff where on earth are the cruise lines going to get them from? Especially staff to work the long hours that cruise ship crew do.

And yet there are plenty of people abled bodied and mind getting money to not work. I wise person told me 40 years ago that unemployment in Australia will never go much below 5% as 5% of people will never want to work when you get money for it.

Just goes to show how out of touch the govt is with the real world  or just another attempt at political correctness.?

You might be able to get the position as buffet tester graham.

Lock the doors before the rabble gets in.

I stand corrected,the opps link didn’t work.

I just looked up the Cruise Passenger website anf found the article. It didn't mention the big ships, just smaller ones like Ponant.

At $500 a week for a 14 hr day x 7 day week? No Aussie will work for that cleaning and making up cabins and working the food areas, only fillipinos will do that.

$1000 to $1500 per diem per pax. Out of my league.

You may be surprised at the number of Aussies employed by the cruise lines in normal times.

Only in certain roles eg  guest services and entertainment but virtually  none in the day to day running of the ship.

He showed how good he was at that last time. Lost it.

I didn’t lose it ..it was misplaced ( and not by me) during the OPT renovations. Anyway it was pretty much redundant as there were very very few  guests worthy of such treatment ( especially the one from Newcastle way) 😱

Is it pride of America? The ship that everyone talks about that is crewed by America’s so it can operate in Hawaii.

I haven’t been on it but the talk is the crew aren’t so good.
Surly ,lazy and not very passionate .

Thats what we can expect.
