Yes and that’s the difference between a cruise with all adults vaccinated vs one that isn’t. I’ve got Freedom booked in Dec but will move it if the need to wear a mask inside remains by then. I mean, I don’t wear a mask now in the grocery store. Why would I need to on a cruise?

Just your doomsday speculation...I don't think so.  This scenario will be routine, Covid will never be completely eradicated and it's too soon to tell just how long these sporadic cases will continue.  No one can be sure.

Royal’s Galveston sailings link in the Healthy Sail section originally required vaccinations, for those of legal age, up through October 31 (original planned end of CSO).    As Florida’s court battle looked more favorable against the CDC, Royal quietly updated Galveston’s vaccine requirement to August only.   
 

What will happen on July 18 if CSO remains as is -the requirements will revert to recommendations only. That frees up cruise lines to welcome all, with no restrictions on board.  I don’t see the cruise lines separating  vax vs unvaxed after that point. 
 

here's hoping that will be the case and get back to normal

Keep in mind other cruiser's from other countries will be sailing on these same ships. Some of those countries are way behind as far as rolling out the vaccines...........So I could see most of the same protocols being in place for the next 6 months. Hopefully by 2022 all or most protocols will go away but before that don't see the cruiselines taking a chance just getting rid of all the protocols.

Keep in mind that ports of call like the Bahamas had single digit vaccination rates until the other day, and are now at 10%. And keep in mind that ports of call like Cozumel have COVID ratings of Orange (second highest) by Mexico.

Keep in mind the majority of activities are outside, in which even an unvaccinated person is at a near zero risk.

With these restrictions, why would any un-vaxed person take the cruise.  Hard to believe there would be more than a few in-vaxed adults.

the information I got that in Nassau unvaccinated need to be on tours but CocoCay there are no restrictions. I’m going with my son with isn’t vaccinated and I’m fine with all of this. Just glad Adventure Ocean will be open. For me that would have been a dealbreaker 

I don’t know what will happen on the Freedom, but access to Adventure Ocean on the Adventure of the Seas sailing out of Nassau was extremely limited. There were not many children under 12 on the cruise, but parents could only sign up for 12 total hours for the entire seven days. All children, even if they were related,  had to remain six feet apart and wear a mask while participating. They were probably operating at 50% or less capacity.

Also for those wondering about future restrictions, if you compare it to the theme parks in FL, they all were strict on masks, distancing etc, then within a month everything got removed and now they are basically back to normal. I think these polices will go away very rapidly (but not even the cruise lines know when) but once one major cruise line pulls the trigger the rest will quickly follow suit.

Lot more to lose when the ships sails back into port with 8 or 10 people with Covid then there is when you get home after a Disney vacation and then come down with Covid, Being at Disney does not even come up.

 

There is a huge difference, and ALOT more issues for a cruiseline to deal with then Disney.

 

The protocols will not go away rapidly at all on cruise ships.

I agree, but once it’s deemed “safe” whatever that’ll look like in the future I think these protocols will go away quickly. I think it’s going to be an all or nothing type situation for these types of protocols as it’s nothing something you can really do halfway.  But it could happen in a month or 2023 it’s up in the air.

I think they will be around longer than you think. As long as they are filling cabins with vaccinated guests they will keep that portion in place for a while I believe. No reason not to keep requiring vaccines which give guests the most freedoms and least restrictions aboard. Remeber, these ships have thousands of crew members in close contact living aboard and these cruises are going to foreign ports where residents are most likely unvaccinated ...... As said, cruising is not like a theme park.

I think I phrased it poorly, I don’t think these things will be going away any time soon, but I do think once they start to remove these restrictions they will go away very quickly once it’s deemed safe. There is not a way I can think of that they can really phase in and out any of these protocols besides the variations we have right now due to FL law. I think what the adventure is doing right now will be the norm until we see these restrictions go away.
