Coco Cay Day Questions including Pigs

We have not been to "Perfect Day" since it became "perfect" . We havent been there since it was plain old "CocoCay " with one inflatable slide!

I am considering the "Coco Cay Club " but am also thinking that staying on the ship and just venturing out to explore a bit is another option. We are allegedly on " Symphony" last week of September. 

 

Is the casino usually open while at CocoCay? I have read several accounts from Adventure and a blogger that it was open while they were at CC.

 

Cost for the Club is now 160/pp which seems a bit pricy for the chair/umbrella/matsand lobster. We only booked in late May after NCL messed with us for the 143rd time since Covid; this is the lowest price I have seen in the cruise planner. Is this "sale" a pseudo-sale? Or is this what the club has always charged?

 

Finally; has anyone here  done the " Swim with Pigs" excursion? It seems quirky and perhaps fun.

Slots open at 8:00am and the tables open at 10:00am while at Coco Cay.

Anyone know if You can swim with the pigs from Roatan, Costa Maya or Cozumel? I’m taking a 6 night cruise and to add Coco Caye for a 7 night would have been over $500 more.

Ocean Cat I did an excursion with the pigs off of Spanish Wells Bahamas back in December.  Because of covid we were the only ones here.  The pigs are cute but watch YouTube videos and read reviews about it.  We were lucky because our captain worked with these pigs before and they knew him.  He told us a few stories about people getting bit...etc...  It was really neat but I think I enjoyed it more being just my husband and I plus our captain.

CocoCay Beach club varies a TON! I have Symphony in Nov and the last price I saw was $169.99. We will be on Freedom the week between Christmas and New Year (normally very high priced) Beach Club was $46.99....Guess which trip we are trying the beach club? I asked and someone else commented they wouldn't pay more than $80 for it. That is obviously their opinion and it wasn't open early last year when we were there so I have no personal experience.

You might want to research it before you decide to do this.  It most definitely is not fun for the pigs.

Swimming pigs is a Bahamas thing. Have not heard/seen they exist anywhere else in the Caribbean.

We swam with the pigs on one of our two days at Coco Cay early last year! We had a blast and we’re selected to demonstrate how powerful the pigs can truly be !! It for us was one of our highlights !

Just so you know, the island is an extension of the ship, and everything you can do on the ship, you can do on the island except the casino.  It's a giant beach and swimming pool filled with food options.  Yes, many items have a price tag, but the ocean, sandy beach and swimming pool, food, wifi, and drink package are all part of it.  The Beach club is an upgraded experience......a private area, with lobster and Filet for lunch instead of chicken, hot dogs and hamburgers.  No need for it, if you don't want it.

My question for those that have been cost aside would you think it wise to spend the money on the day bed rental or the private beach club. Where would it be more comfortable to lounge in-between activities for the day if you are a couple?

Welcome to Cruise Critic! IMO, you should not waste your money on a daybed or any other sort of accommodation, including the beach club. Most of the island is full of free places to hangout with included food.

I haven't swum with pigs at Coco Cay but I did it with a very long day trip from Nassau a few years back. Or, well, I went with others who swam with pigs. I'd hurt my knee pretty bad the day before on the Atlantis mini river rapids so I was a little cautious about putting it in the water (it was a mess, scraped raw) and then when I saw the pigs they were much BIGGER than I was expecting so I just stayed in the boat we took to get there. Someone brought me over a piglet to hold which was cute. I just found them a lot bigger than I expected and somewhat intimidating!

I know fish poop in the sea, but pig poop seems different to me. I can't imagine cavorting with them in water they are dropping waste into. Hard pass.

Just wondering how things were at Atlantis. Busy? long lines? Was everything open?
