I have one of what people are calling wrist scrunchies. My problem is when I eat dinner I take it off and tend to lay it down and can forget to put it back on. Lanyard is safer if you are forgetful like me.

You'll definitely need the lanyard since you'll have Cheers. 😉

Casino can punch a hole in it and attach a lanyard

They already come pre-punched.  It's been that way for a while now.  On our last cruise, the casino just had a bunch of the lanyards hanging on the back of a chair and you just helped yourself to one.

yes you are correct.
I dont like things around my neck and if I dont need to carry something in my pockets great!

most my shorts have small pockets

what do you do for the room key?

Hi

There you go, an easy fix would be to get some shirts or shorts with a slightly larger pocket. We are only talking about a card the size of a credit card.

Just to be clear... we are talking about your room key.

Royal is using a wrist band. Silicone and thick, which I think is very dumb. let's say you are cruising with a couple that is not vaccinated. They want to go to a dining for vaccinated only and you lend them your wrist band. What use is it then? If they intend to do a wrist band. Do one like a hospital. Thin, light weight and all the info on it. Cannot remove it. Water proof etc. heck, when I have one on, half the time I forget I even have it.

They have good ones at the resorts in Mexico. Not tight. Not something you can transfer to someone else. They use a piece of metal and a tool to put it on. And they serve as your room

key as well.

Just looks like wire rope crimped on. Under $20 and you can transfer all you like. 🙂

yeah if you want to bring the string and the metal pieces and the crimper and mess with all of that and not be able to get into your room I guess everything short of a tattoo can be moved. It’s not a rubber bracelet you slide on and off. And it’s more comfortable.

That is not the kind they are talking about.See the source image

Yes it is.  The type you pictured is on royal.  It's similar to the bands on MSC.  A cousin of them would be the medallions on Princess.

This is the Carnival board and the wrist bands that look like telephone cords from yesteryear would be the kind that you could attach the current sail and sign card to.

I know it is Royals I said that. The ones that are so inexpensive are not what people are asking about. I referenced Royals. They also have one that looks like a thick silicone band. Princess medallion is totally different.

Princess medallion is placed INTO the wrist band. Carnival has nothing like it at this time.

And Carnival has nothing at all like the Roydl band you pictured before.  The phone cord type with metal ring attached that I posted available on ebay is the only type that is comparable with the current sail and sign cards that Carnival has.

As usual, Carnival is behind the times, but that is par for the course.

Agreed!  Nothing screams "tourist" like a lanyard or wristband.

Had to laugh when I read that.  I would guess that at any  port of call, 95% of the people walking around are tourists.  Not to many locals frequent overpriced tourist traps.

LOL, and it's not even locals working at those tourist traps. They import their employees.

I did a search and did not find much.
I saw an old article where they were going to do it but nothing more.
I hate lanyards, I have to wear them for work at times and they annoy me.
Was really hoping for a wristband, if not looking at options.

Going on Mardi Gras in Nov.  Never been on a Carnival cruise and i'm slowly picking up cruise items.
(this is one of my first cruises as an adult, been on cruise as a kid but I didn't pack)

I just carry my sail and sign in my pocket. I watched wristbands in action on our Royal Caribbean cruise and no, thank you. They might have been convenient for getting into the cabin but every time someone wanted to get anything, like a drink, they had to take the wristband off.

Exactly.  Also, it's not like people who wear lanyards wear them off of the ship at the ports.  People wear them while on the ships.  I noticed that less people wear lanyards on Royal, but they had the bands available.  It would be nice if Carnival had the bands too.

Why is there a need for identification at all?  It's pretty easy to tell when a kid is under 12.

The wristbands used on Carnival are used to identify those whom are booked in the exclusive Havana cabins, you can't use the Havana pool area if you didn't get the wristband.
