Celebrity Asia cruises

Great question but I would guess no one would know for sure at this point.  Also, it seems quite questionable whether these cruises will even end up sailing.  We are booked on an early April 2022 “Best of Japan” cruise and we remain hopeful.

I pulled the plug on 6 Asia and Australia cruises and shifted to TA's to Europe, European and Caribbean for 2021-2022.   I have had far to many cruises cancelled so gambling on some with better odds.

BTW I don't gamble in the Casino  so don't bet on my choices.   Go with your heart and your research.

I suspect it is very unlikely that many Asian itineraries will be sailing in the spring of 2022.  While the OP doesn't mention the specific ports several Asian countries are experiencing Covid-19 surges.

I can sympathize.  We were on the Solstice on what was to have been a B2B2B2B set of cruises in Australian, New Zealand and South Pacific waters.  We left the ship on March 20, 2020 at the end of the first leg.  We had been in NZ on a land trip before boarding so had been out of the US for some time.  We were not comfortable with the news from the US and already had made flight reservations to fly out of Sydney when Celebrity ceased passenger operations.  Including the remaining three on that B2B2B2B set we have had nine cruises cancelled.

It is my understanding that Celebrity is requiring all be vaccinated for their cruises at least through April-22.  That could change between now and then.

My wife and I have a Japan cruise in November that will likely be cancelled.

Do these cruises have a 95% or 100% vaccination requirement?  Mine is at the end of February.  I am thinking about rebooking a year out.

We moved a Japan-Vancouver cruise to later, then cancelled the next one, so agree, going to wait.

As to ‘betting’ on your choice…..since you don’t gamble in the Casino, that means you understand statistics and probabilities so we Should consider your choices! I’ve always said that lottery tickets are a tax on the math-challenged! And yes, I’ve done electronic poker and bought a few lotto tickets, so……

We did a L&S of our Spring 2020 B3B to 2021 and are going to wait until the first of the year to see what happens. Hopefully, vaccines will be flowing in a big way by then in Japan and we'll be able to go on our cruise. If not, we'll review our options at that time.

Any comments on rebooking to a Great Barrier Reef cruise December 2022?  The last word that I heard was that Australia MAY be open around June of 2022.  Your thoughts?

I think that I have a nonrefundable deposit on Celebrity.  Can this be transferred to Royal?

We've been to Australia five times between land trips and cruises.  And we have done two somewhat different versions of a Great Barrier Reef cruise.  While I actually do have an opinion about the probability or possibility of a GBR cruise in December 2022 for a cruiser from North America I would suggest that you ask this question on the Australia and New Zealand cruiser discussion forum (not the Australia and NZ Ports of Call) on Cruise Critic.  That forum has a number of frequent posters and, since they aren't doing much traveling right now, have the time to debate this issue.  And they will debate the issue.

When I tried it a few years ago I was told it couldn't be done as it is a separate company

Until/if Covid 19 turns into a harmless virus I can imagine Celebrity continuiing to demand vaccinated cruisers. However whether the Asian are fully vaccinated and will be welcoming cruise lines is a different thing.

We have a two week Solstice Cruise in February and remain hopefull'ish. Not sure what the other options would be if we cancel it. The only thing I do in Europe in Winter is ski and have three booked trips (again fingers crossed). We have an Oceania Caribbean cruise in November 22 and not that keen on two such trips within 10 months. Will wait to closer the final payment 21st November

I’ve asked about the possibility of a lift and shift from our Feb 13th Asia cruise to the following year, still waiting on a reply. It’s a mess in Vietnam just now as a starter and as such we’re now very doubtful. As we have the flight booked ( although flexible) we may look at still going but doing a land based Hong Kong/Singapore mix, maybe something in between if there is anything beach wise on offer. That alone of course is dependant on the situation in Hong Kong and Singapore.

That’s a shame. No real option for L&S as we have a Solstice Japan cruise April 23 and not keen doing  two Far East trips so close together. Dog would not be happy and it is the ski season! Hopefully retired by then😜
