How often do you refare??

I used to do it maybe once or twice. But now ~~~~

 

Caribbean / Panama Canal - I check airfare on Tuesdays 

 

Pacific Northwest Cruise - never.  Booked it July 2020 and its never come close to that price

 

Transatlantic - did it a month ago but now it looks like I get 100 OBC if I pay $8 more. This is for a cruise I'm not even positive I'll take. Wondering if it's worth it to do it in the off chance other plans for next August die out

 

Australia -> Asia - I've done it twice

I check cruise fare & air fare multiple times every day up until the day that changes can no longer be made for free. It has served me well to do this. For our upcoming cruise air fare dropped several times. Went from $501 pp until a final price of $286 pp. I found air fare dropped at 11 pm. one night. Refared in bed that very minute.  😊

It is a game or hobby.  Nothing wrong with taking some profit margin off from global conglomerates.

When the cruise companies decide to start  treating me fairly, I may or more likely probably will not feel charitable to them.

I refare as often as possible! Just did it for the Enchanted 10-day Caribbean on 1/9/22. Our cabin category had been sold out but I check just about every day and it popped back up last week at a lower fare and additional OBC. And it's not greedy to be careful with your money! It's wise. 😊

I just tried to do a refare and couldn't due to an upgrade that Princess did on their own which has messed things up.  Need to call back on Monday to get a different group that can handle it who is short staffed this weekend, so something to look out for in regards to this topic.

I request a re-fare of the cruise booking when there is a significant enough change to warrant the effort for myself and the TA.  Wouldn't bother for $25.  As for EZ-Air, I rend to check that fairly often and it is self-service, so no need to bother someone and wait for them to respond or act.

I check my airfare every day and have refared at least 5 times. I just refared my cruise the other day because it was a couple of hundred dollars cheaper. As long as I don't have to do a new booking and lose my air I'll refare. Air is much higher now.

Is there any way to re-fare a casino rate without calling the casino department, at which point they ask who your Princess TA is?

I emailed my rep and asked if my upcoming cruise was eligible for a casino discount. She replied by email and refared in about one hour. 👍

I check fares and air daily and get them lower for any decrease. That would be more than any loss of freebies.

Whenever I ask for a refare, my PVP takes away any OBC or freebies I had, but doesn't tell me that in advance.  Once lost $300 OBC on a $50 refare.  Not always worth it.

If obc was part of a promotion it is lost if you rebook. Other types of obc are not lost, such as my DH's military veteran obc. I always do the math regarding possible loss of obc before rebooking cruise fare. We have an excellent pvp who is careful about that. I hate that you lost so much obc. That never should have happened. Your pvp needs to be replaced.

I book through the casino department and I was told that anything I want to add or change must go through them or it can cause your booking to be deleted.  Do not add excursions, dinners or try to change cabins without calling casino department

If you booked through the Casino department you (or your TA) has to go through them for any changes to your booking.  

 

If you booked a cruise with a casino discount/rate  ( not a free cruise)  through a TA the TA can refare you.

 This is correct. When you refare you are switching to whatever the current fare or promotion is so you ( or your TA) really do need to do the math and be certain it works out to your benefit.

I look at the fares on an ongoing basis. I don't refare unless I can save $100 or more. That hasn't happened in a long time - prices have always gone up from where they were when I booked.

I generally book at the last minute--after the final payment date. Refaring isn't generally an option then. Back when we were working, I'd track prices of several cruises that fit DH's school breaks. (He taught at a community college.) Most of the time, I could get us a good deal after the final payment date. A few times, though, we ended up staying home because prices kept going up and up.

I haven't ever refared. I am in the UK and booked direct with Princess... is refaring (if that is a verb!) even possible for me?

 

Our price has dropped over £400 since we booked 😞

We have refared when it makes financial sense.   For example if we are going to save $100 but loose $300 OBC then we won't.  You need to know the terms of the original booking sometimes Princess will allow you to refare and keep your original perks and sometimes they won't.
