die_hard Posted September 22, 2021 #1 Share Posted September 22, 2021 In Cozumel, do you have to stick to RC excursions, or can you go out on your own?
HicksRA Posted September 22, 2021 #2 Share Posted September 22, 2021 Not sure about unvaxed, but vaxed are unrestricted.
LeeW Posted September 22, 2021 #3 Share Posted September 22, 2021 They do want you to wear masks in the port (when close to other people) and in stores/transportation. They reminded you to put a mask on when you went through pier security, along with their dog check for food. On our stops in Coz this month unvaxed kids were only allowed on ship excursions. Lol to me mask was a restriction. Hot and sticky when I was there. Normally would have shopped around longer. Ruined it for me.

Well gosh... you have to wear a mask while you are inside the ship. And it will be strictly enforced. Unless you are seated eating or drinking. No sippy walky.... the mask police with give you some "advice" which would escalate if you are seen consistently failing to follow the rules.

Even when someone wasn't wearing a mask, when leaving or entering the ship, no one said anything to them and port security never said anything to anyone. Lots of people not wearing masks in port when we were there and no one batted an eye.

Different countries, different rules apply and there are a lot more ships stopping in Cozumel, Mexico than Alaskan ports. The cruise ships want to make sure someone doesnt pick up the virus at any port and bring it onboard. So if going somewhere like Mexico with less than 25% of people vaccinated, better safe than sorry.

In Alaska, the governor just announced "Crisis Standards of Care" because the hospitals are overflowing with COVID patients. In many hospitals, only the patients with the best chance of survival are being treated. The many residents in Alaska may be reluctant to wear masks. You can see the cause and effect. 1 hour ago, Sunshine3601 said: mexico has a lot less people vaccinated then alaska.....Mexico with less than 25% of people vaccinated, better safe than sorry. Mexico has about 33% of the population fully vaccinated. Alaska has about 49% fully vaccinated. But I wouldn't be surprised if the case rate is lower in Cozumel than Alaska ports. I would wear a mask in either place. Edited September 23, 2021 by Lou33

Walked some 6-8 blocks near dock area and no masks. Edited September 23, 2021 by nelblu

Happened 3 times in one day entering the Casino as my long sleeve shirt obscured the Vax band. Also, happened at the Adult show. Since the Oasis was 100% vaxxed, what was the need for such examinations. Explanation given at the Adult show was that there were 2 unvaxxed adults on board. Now you are surprised that you have all these restrictions? That's not vacation or a cruise. Spend your money in Florida where there are no restrictions.
