Cruising on Thanksgiving Day

What is so special about the food on Thanksgiving Day? Does the cruise line go all out or it just another day? This will be our first holiday cruise and I’m just anxious to know. Thank you

Nothing to get excited about.  They'll have turkey and the usual holiday side dishes but still, they are cooking for thousands.

We tend to book a specialty meal for Thanksgiving day as my DH has been disappointed in the main dining room Thanksgiving meal.  He'd rather have a nice meal than a mediocre turkey dinner.

They usually have Turkey as a entrée in the MDR.  Nothing else really changes.

We were on the Spirit for Turkey day in Nov 19'. They had a turkey dinner in MDR and at the buffet as well.  It's alright, but like someone else mentioned it's really just meh... because it is cooked for so many people it is kind of bland. I ended up not eating all my dinner and just ordering something else off the menu

The last Thanksgiving cruise I was on, there were football games all day long on the big screen in the Atrium complete with a hot dog.  I had a wonderful thanksgiving dinner in the main dining room.

 

Word of warning, the ship was packed.  It was great fun however.

The turkey will be wearing a mask.

Who knows what it's temperature will be.

Usually Thanksgiving cruises are packed, but this year without kids and less occupancy should be perfect!

We choose to have Thanksgiving Dinner at the buffet. Yeah, you can go to a Specialty Dining restaurant and pay for a turkey dinner, but what fun is that??? The buffet makes you feel like you are at home and you can load up (or not) your plates as much as you want. 

 

 

 

 

 

Note that they setup the buffet with white tablecloths to make it more special.

NCL does not know how to do traditional American Thanksgiving dinner.  They try, but it falls short.

I'm going to be on the Epic for Thanksgiving this year...I was wondering myself what it would be like.  I hope they have some cranberry sauce!  I used to live in the UK and every year I cooked up a nice Thanksgiving for friends.  Was so much fun!  If you put enough brandy in pumpkin pie, it tastes great, no matter what type of pumpkin you use! 😉

Done it twice. Turkey was good. But then I am comparing to my MIL’s dry turkey/ jerky.

Make sure you order fries off-menu in the MDR.  The genuine Thanksgiving meal always includes them.

I'll be on the Bliss this thanksgiving and I will not be in the MDR eating mass produced turkey dinners 🤣🤣🤣  Got the Teppanyaki booked😋
