Good morning from Cabo San Lucas.  It's a beautiful day with a few high, thin clouds, and a very pleasant temperature.  We're sitting on the balcony enjoying the scenery.  After going ashore the last three times, I'm staying on the ship today, and we probably won't get off tomorrow or Thursday either.  With the new Omicron variant, it will probably be better to stay on board anyway.  So far this segment,  more people seem to be complying with wearing their masks.

A little while ago, we saw either a sea lion or a seal swimming near the ship.  So far, that's the only wildlife today.

Pearl Harbor and December 7, 1941, should never be forgotten.  We've been to Pearl Harbor twice and out to the Arizona once, a very moving experience.  We also have been to the National Cemetery at Punchbowl.   It is a solemn, peaceful place in a beautiful setting.

I'll celebrate civil aviation day and letter writing day, but will pass on cotton candy.

We have not been to Manta, but did stop in Guayaquil in 2001 on the Ryndam.  We took a tour to Quito and the equator monument.

Seth Wayne is on board this week, and he did a coffee chat with the Cruise Director.  It was very interesting,  and Seth kept it going until 5 minutes before the next event was to begin.  According to Seth, HAL will not build any more small ships, but will keep the Volendam and the Zaandam.  🤞  He also said they will not build any ships that are bigger than the Pinnacle class.  It seems we've heard that with each new class of ship, 😉 so I'm not holding my breath.  He added the next new ship would be a new class too, which makes me doubt the previous statement about ship size even more. 😁  No new ships are in the works now.

@dfish  Debbie, I'm so sorry about your cousin and the death of her grandson.  It's such a difficult situation for her and the famiIy.  Sending good thoughts that they can find comfort and peace.

@StLouisCruisers  Sandi, condolences on John's death, and comfort for Jean now that his suffering has ended.  Sending good thoughts for your DMIL that she may have a peaceful and comfortable life to the end.  On a brighter note, safe travels, and congratulations on your granddaughter's graduation.  Last, but not least, HAPPY 50th BIRTHDAY, TRAVIS!  Your DD did a good job celebrating the day.

@smitty34877  Terry, hope all the tests help the doctors help Tana.  I'll cheer the improvement that she can walk short distances with just the aid of the oxygen.

@Cat in my lap  HAPPY BIRTHDAY A DAY LATE!

Lenda

I was 4 months old when Pearl Harbor was bombed. My DH and I visited the Arizona Memorial in 1984, it was sobering to see the oil still bubbling up from the ship after more than 40 years. I don't know if that is still happening. We also visited the National Memorial Cemetary of the Pacific. My first time to see a National Memorial Cemetary; have been to several since then. My daughter is buried at the National Memorial Cemetery in Riverside, Ca. and my DH is buried at the National Memorial Cemetery in Phoenix, Az. All of the National Memorial Cemetarys are so poignent and beautiful, each in their own way.

I have been to our port of the day. While in Manta I think I took the same tour as St. Louis Cruiser. Thanks to all of you who posted photos.

@Quartzsite CruiserLenda if you have the opportunity please do me a big favor and ask if the Jan. 16th cruise to Hawaii is a go. We, Kakalena and I, are booked on that cruise as a replacement for about 4 cancelled cruises. Kakalena said to tell you hello and she woule have liked to have made contact with her on her recent cruise.

Jane, last week at the Ask the Captain, Capt. Draper said he hoped the 1/16 cruise would be a go.  As of now, they are waiting on Hawaii to reopen to cruise ships.  I'll keep my ears open and see if I can find out anything more.  This is just my guess, but since the ship is already sailing, I think there will be a replacement cruise or two if Hawaii doesn't reopen.  It just might not be the cruise you want.

I wish I'd thought to ask you if she would have liked to meet while she was on board.  Please tell her hello for me.

Just an FYI.  My biopsy came back positive for BCC.  Having it excised on February 8.  Not having anything done until after we return from our cruise.  Roy you can remove me from the care list.

I can't like your news, but thank you for letting us know.  Glad you will have it taken care of in February.

The older we get the more often we seem to hear this.  Good luck at your surgery.  I'll still be waiting for my surgery.🙄

Today seems to be a birthday day!  Best wishes to those celebrating.  My BFF is also celebrating as she was born 12/07/1941. We are going for dinner this evening.  My treat.

Every time I have been to the USS Arizona Memorial, the oil is still bubbling up.  If I can find it, I will post the picture of the drop of oil and the sheen across the water that I took. Hope to go out there in January during my two weeks on Oahu.

I have been out two days in a row spreading the wealth in numerous stores.  I hate to shop so it is a chore I put off.  Where I live we don’t have any shopping g, as such, so I have to go to Grand Junction.

I thought the drink of the day was ironic, given what day it is!

Have a great rest of the day, everyone.  Thanks to all who make this a great, safe place.

I don’t think anyone has mentioned going to the tagua button factory in Manta.  It was really interesting.  They take hard nuts from a palm, carve, polish and color them to make ornamental objects, but most importantly expensive natural buttons for high-end garments.  We enjoyed our visit to the factory.

Hi Jane.

The oil was still bubbling up from Arizona when we were at Pearl harbour in November 2019.

Ann, this is an amazing picture of the ship and memorial. Were you on a tour?

Also, I’ve been in CC jail off and on for quite some time. Very frustrating.

@Copper10-8
John posted this pic last year.  It was so special and moving, that I saved it. My original post that the gremlins ate, mentioned that.

And my original post also mentioned that my roof is being replaced tomorrow! I am thrilled, but I have been scrambling to make arrangements for Bindi to get to her spa for a couple days.

7 a.m. tomorrow is the roofers’ ETA. But at least it will be finished before our ten days of Winter.

Sorry to hear this Dixie. I am happy that it is not melanoma, but still not the news I wanted to hear.

Seems we’re having a rash of skin issues!  My primary care physician faxed a referral this morning to a specialist after my biopsy came back positive.  Hopefully we can get this taken care of quickly.

Yes, many seem to have issues. I guess it's partly due to being proactive. I hope you get yours taken care of soon.

My daughter will be 50 next year and I am urging her to get busy and make a dermatologist appointment.  I went in for the first time at age 50 and the Doctor immediately found a melanoma cancer on my upper back.  Never knew about it or saw it myself of course, so I'm so happy I took the initiative and made that appointment.  I made my siblings get checked out too.

Good morning.  I write letters (short ones) often, love cotton candy, but it's too sweet, and Pearl Harbor needs to be remembered daily.  Interesting quote.  Will pass on the meal.  Have not been to today's destination.

Prayers and toasts to our lists, and Happy birthday to all today.

Stay safe, social distance, and wear your mask.
