In quarantine on Equinox. Ask me anything. I’m bored.

Where did you see pictures of a quarantine hotel, please?

I saw it on another group post.  Pretty sure I can't mention their name.  The problem is this "other group" has been deleting unfavorable posts almost immediately.  The hotel room had no phone, a very clogged toilet, stained walls and towels.  It was awful.

I don't know of any rules against mentioning group names, unless they are travel agents.  Wondering if the pictures were valid.  Can't imagine Celebrity putting someone up in a place like that.

I took a look and this is what is posted about Facebook -  I guess you can mention their name but can't solicit others to Roll Calls or personal pages on FB

Our Policy Regarding Facebook and Roll Calls

Cruise Critic loves Facebook. in fact, we maintain FB pages for all of our sites (Cruise Critic, CruiseCritic.co.uk, our Australia site, etc.). We have many people who participate on both our FB page and our message boards. We have no issues with people linking their own, personal FB pages in their profiles, or on your signature on Cruise Critic forums. You understand that doing so allows our members to know your "real life" name.

ROLL CALLS created on FB are not anonymous. Most of them are open to the public. Even if they are private groups, once you are accepted into the group everyone will know your real name. In doing so you have pretty much told all those people -- strangers -- when you will be away on vacation. The fact of the matter is most people do not understand how much personal information they are sharing.

On Cruise Critic roll calls, everyone is anonymous. You have the ability to remain as anonymous as you'd like throughout the entire Roll Call timeframe and throughout your entire cruise if you so desire. You can be JoeCruise101 until the day you disembark. The choice is yours, you share as much or as little as YOU choose to; everyone starts out on a level playing field on Cruise Critic. Anonymous user names only.

Also, FB Roll Calls have already proven to divide Roll Calls. People, for whatever reason, who cannot seem to get along may open a FB group and then want more people to participate, so they harvest members from the original ROLL CALL. There have been actual disruptions encouraged on FB directed towards our ROLL CALLs.

We believe a ROLL CALL created on Cruise Critic should stay here. We've worked long and hard to create this community, and have provided a certain level of trust and privacy for our members. If they choose to participate in a FB Roll Call, they'll have to learn about it somewhere other than Cruise Critic.

We request that you not solicit people to your Facebook page on any of our ROLL CALLS.

I also wonder about the validity. Yesterday someone on FB posted about a huge number of positive tests and a bogus recording of a Captain's announcement. The poster was being pranked by someone but I'm sure hundreds read the post and don't realize they were duped too.

" Yes, we noticed that after your first post ".

I was just looking up the definition of sarcasm for someone else.

@Parkerson glad that it sounds like you are or will be OK?

Can we still be be friends ??

I wasn't being sarcastic to the poster when he/she replied " Obviously "  when I wrote "( I guess everyone has a different " risk " level ) ?

I had a good laugh from their reply ----- because they were correct.

All the best to all of you who are cruising in the very near future.  Be safe and enjoy.

I think this thread speaks volumes (literally) of how much we all want real time information and transparency. Knowledge is power.

So touched to hear from such a caring and supportive CC community.

Hello all!

Disembarkation was surreal. Like an episode of Black Mirror.

.....

It could’ve felt very VIP-like, but was really more Be-Gone like.

.....

Thanks to @Panderson for starting this thread and his fellow quarantine "buddies."  While I am sorry that all of you had to experience this your reports were extremely helpful.  Celebrity could have handled this situation better.  While we are living in strange times they have had months to prepare.

We were on the Solstice in March 2020 on what would have been a B2B2B2B series in Australian, New Zealand and South Pacific waters.  We left the ship in Sydney when the global suspension was implemented on March 20, 2020.  It also was a "Be-Gone like" experience.

And did I miss a post from @Mojo65 regarding how Celebrity planned to assist their return to Canada?

Perfect info.  This is where I read it.  The gentleman had been posting for a day or two from a 3rd floor quarantine room on the Apex.  He had posted pictures of his 3rd floor stateroom, food, etc. It's a private group and after a couple of days his posts were removed.  He would post and send pics and within 30 minutes they'd be gone.  This was a man on the ship with a group of family members. He was telling his story, not making claims about what was going on outside his stateroom unless it pertained directly to him.  He was not ranting or bashing Celebrity.  He wasn't happy about his situation, but he was very factual. I see no reason he would tell this story without it being the truth.  He wasn't speculating.  Like most of us booked with Celebrity, I love the product. I have been on 3 cruises with them since August.  I understand the risks of traveling during this time.  I just want to be assured that Celebrity is living up to their promises.  Time will tell.

Private vehicle for each family. They were lined up waiting.

They were staggering our departures so we didn’t bunch up inside or out. We were able to watch a bit while they retrieved one on my wife’s bag from inside the terminal.

Hey, Parkerson, I'm sure you're probably home and resting well in your own space.

If you're in St. John's, we aren't too far away from each other. I'm in Middleburg (outside of Jacksonville/Orange Park).

You'll have to let us know when you plan to cruise again, sounds like you need to take a VICTORY lap.

I canceled our 1-9 Edge cruise today🥲, so maybe we can take our FCC and join you on next one.

All the best to you and your wife.

Wow.... I thought those on FB were more liberal than CC.   Maybe he should have posted here.   I'm sure we would have really appreciated it.

Thanks Mojo65. We thought of driving to Syracuse (from Ottawa) to go to FLL. It now seems a nightmarish ideas if we get infected on a cruise. Just getting back to Canada, with our car at the Syracuse airport seems a silly idea now. I think we'll pass cruising again this year and enjoy the scenery of Meech Lake in our kayak !!! Take care and have a safe trip back home.

Thanks for all the information you gave. Much appreciated.

I’m doing just that on Friday but I’m skipping the cruise and staying at friends home and likely be just sitting at pool and hot tub chillaxing.  I do have car booked from Orlando to Syracuse in the event I get sick and can’t fly to Syracuse, fully refundable.  I have pcr tests booked in Watertown on return to get across border. I hope it turns out well.

Yes, tell that guy to post on this thread.  I think this crowd would love to continue with good info.

I had strange things happen when trying to post on CC in August while on the Edge. I couldn't upload, and sometimes they would dissapear before I could post.  IDK, maybe just me. Looks like Parkerson had no trouble.😁

Thank you Parkerson for starting this post and all the updates.  I hope you are well quickly and the same to Mojo and Dolly.

We are scheduled on Silhouette mid February, and based on (1) healthy cruising already three times this fall  (2) taking our own precautions as we have all through this pandemic , we will not be canceling.

However, it really has been helpful to read everything that you went through and we’ve also discussed how we would handle the situation if one of us got sick, (separately) and we will probably pack an extra two or three books per person… Lol…

Reading the threads have really shed light on how difficult traveling is inter-country with Covid. We are blessed to be living in Florida, so we just grab our car and drive home after our cruise. But I sympathize with all the Canadians, who are just trying to get out of the cold for a bit and now have to cancel because the possible difficulty of getting home is just not worth the aggravation.

Looking forward to the day we can all cruise without masks, vaccine documents, tests results, etc.

I think the original policy was that if they took you off the ship at a different port than original disembarkation they would make arrangements to fly you home.    This I believe is being disembarked at original port.

Jim_Iain, my worry as well. Although I am triple-vaxxed, I would not want to be offloaded in a foreign port if I tested positive. I would much prefer to be quarantined onboard and disembarked at original port.

Unless it is like someone else suggested on another post that there was a prankster that was posting false information and made up announcements from the Captain.
