NCAA football championship game?

Recommended Posts

We are on Brilliance next week and the entertainment schedule just showed up on the App.  There are NFL games on Saturday and Sunday but the GA/Bama game is not listed for Monday night ☹️.  Might it still be playing somewhere on ship?  Or in the worst case scenario, will we have enough internet bandwith to watch it on Hulu ?(we have the 1 device Zoom package that was with the drinks package)  Please tell me I'm not going to miss this game!

Ask about it while on board (because it's not like you'd rather see the game than sail, I assume 😉).  I'd be surprised if they didn't put it on in the same spots as where the NFL games are.

Was on Brilliance for NYE and they had a lot of the bowl games playing. Several up on the pool deck...not sure if they were on the schedule or not. Then the pub had several games and the one TV in Schooner had some too.

All day Saturday was bowl games on the pool deck with all day Sunday being the NFL games.

My guess is it'll be played on the pool deck and in the pub like the other ones. Saw enough of the frigging commercials for it while watching all the other bowl games.

I gather, from your first sentence, that you are not familiar with SEC football. 😄🏈

but you are correct with the second sentence. It will likely be shown somewhere on board.

OMG--Right?!?! We were on the Oasis last week and watching the same 5-6 commercials rotate through every single commercial break.  We could recite them all by the end of the week.

We were on a sailing during the last game of the World Series on allure.  The only place you could watch it was in the Casino Bar.  It was on in the pub then the muscian played. On air had a different game.  Being from Atlanta, rather disappointing.

Not true.  Teams like Mizz, uk, vandy, etc really don’t care and they too are in the SEC and other teams care when they are good and not so much otherwise (just like most schools).

I still can’t understand the philosophy of so many SEC conference teams pretending somehow that the success for Bama and LSU somehow makes them better.  And I really don’t know why “it just means more” as they advertise for most of the teams when they are perennial also rans.   Actually I do know why.  It doesn’t mean more.    The also ran list also includes UGA for the last 40 years although I will cheer for them because I have friends that went there.  Regardless, who in there right mind cheers for a conference.  I sure don’t.  I cheer for my team.  That is all I care about.  Period, and I don’t pretend otherwise.

Having lived in Alabama and South Carolina during my military career, I can tell you a fan of Alabama or Georgia is most likely not going to be on a ship next Monday night. I had friends who missed weddings and funerals because of football games, and these were only regular season games. A diehard Alabama or Georgia fan is likely to be supporting their team on land, especially Alabama fans who plan their lives around the Championship Game, since they expect Bama to be playing in it every year.

Bama fan here.  We only cruise during football season during Alabama's off week.  We've had issues watching college football on ships before.  Had friends just invite us on a Thanksgiving cruise next year and we had to decline...that is Iron Bowl weekend.  I grew up in Miami with Dolphin season tickets.  We don't have any pro teams here.  College football is all we have and we go all in.  It is the National Championship and on ESPN so there definitely is a chance.  Roll Tide!

Sailed last time bama and GA had a title game.

Since most cruise lines stopped carrying the major networks several years ago, the availability of college football games during the regular season has gone way down. I am a bigger NFL fan, but I miss the days when most big regular season college football games were shown on ships. We live in Florida and usually go on several 3 day weekend cruises a year, including 1 or 2 in the Fall every year.

We were on Allure when UGA played Alabama in the SEC Championship game. We had to watch it in our cabin on our computer. They gave free internet for a few hours to the upset cruisers.

Royal does get ESPN, so my guess is it will be on.

GO DAWGS... let's roll tide.
