By vaccination card, does the plain old CDC card with handwritten doses suffice?

I think my wife and I will be on one of those legs.

Yes, our handwritten CDC cards are accepted by all. Frankly, most people just glance at it although a few do look at it closer.

Regarding masks, LeMonJat is very correct, most people wear masks everywhere….however, when outdoors we often see they are worn below the nose.

Italy requires a special type of mask now. It was not available to us in the USA so we’ve just worn our standard surgical masks (of which we brought dozens). Only on our sixth day did a train employee mention that we needed to get the new style. We each bought one at a pharmacy in case anyone else mentions it.

My husband is a casino player so amazingly all three cruises on the Carnival Pride are comped with free drinks all over the ship and casino free play too. The last cruise is Norwegian Fjords which we've never been to.  Some of the other ports that will be new to us are Kotor, Porto, Corfu, Bilbao, La Rochelle.

At the height ( or nearly at) the height of the Omicron wave, most countries in Europe very strictly enforce the mask mandate right now, and in some places like the Canaries, Portugal, some cities in France and Germany ( just an example) they must be worn in shops, pedestrian zones, restaurants. Sometimes even the booster shot is necessary to enter a restaurant or you are not allowed inside. Surgical or cloth masks are deemed not to be enough protection, so you are encouraged ( or needed to) wear the ones that filter 95% of particles weaving through the air... Most German cruiselines ask you to have 3 vaccine shots against Corona, plus testing twice before entering a ship and a mask mandate onboard as well.

The measures are strict at the moment, but I'm sure will get easier when the current wave is over - Britain for example is already easing restrictions.

So let's still hope for being welcome to enter "Infinity" in the spring and summer months of 2022!

Thanks for the confirmation. Masks tend to only be compulsory outdoors in certain crowded areas ie markets, old narrow street town centres. Here in France those areas are well signposted. So yes you will see a few “chin bras” as I call them.   But indoors it’s 100%.

Ours was comped too, balcony cabin but with free drinks only in the casino. Neither of us gamble.

Just had confirmation all sailings in the med are cancelled.

Dear Guest,

We are reaching out to provide an update on the status of your 2022 cruise vacation. Celebrity Cruises is pleased to announce we will be relocating Celebrity Infinity from Europe to the Caribbean. As a result, we will be canceling all Celebrity Infinity Mediterranean sailings currently scheduled to depart April 15, 2022 through November 28, 2022. This will allow us to open new 7-night Caribbean cruises for sale in the Summer and Fall months.

So glad celebrity are pleased we have just lost two flights and hotel bookings!

Wow, that's a very tone-deaf way for them to announce they're cancelling your vacation!  Haven't gotten our email yet but will keep an eye out.  Thanks for posting!

You may want to check the vaccination requirements for Norway. Last I checked, which was a month ago, they required the EU digital verification of vaccine status. And, at the time, only that. US vaccine was not acceptable, at that time a month ago.

April 24, 2022 Infinity sailing out of Barcelona has been taken off the Celebrity main site sometime in the past few hours.  We're on that sailing and have not yet received any email.

We are on 4/24 Sailing and haven't gotten that email yet...not surprised though 😞

So sorry to hear about the cancellations! Maybe another itinerary on another ship would work for you.

Depends on the area/itinerary. Not sure if other ships are safe to book. We’re currently booked on the Edge for late May out of Civitavecchia but depending on how things go with the Covid and variants we may very well see other ships X pulled out of Europe. Right now checking to see what hoops we will have to jump through in order to fly to Italy is giving us second thoughts. Testing out the wazoo. Celebrity may end up with too much capacity which is probably the reason that the Infinity was pulled. If my memory is correct this will still leave X with the Edge, Apex, Beyond, Sillhouette, Reflection and Constellation in Europe for this season. That’s a lot of staterooms to fill.
