Twangster,

As always, another review filled with awesome photos.  Royal REALLY should hire you for their marketing.

A we are very much looking forward to sailing Odyssey in February.  I find it interesting that the theater is not reservations but other entertainment is.  Gotta wonder if that will be a trend on other ships that do reset for the theater.  Thanx also for the video from with the drones.  Definitely going to make a point of catching that.  Any other suggestions for a Quantum newbie?

thanx,

Erika

Day 8 Sunset

I spotted a cruise ship on the horizon near the sun.

I imagine it's a lot hotter over on that ship.

That Captain better be careful, it's heading straight for them.

The clouds save the day.

Other Q class ships didn’t use reservations for the main theater in the past.  Hopefully this is a sign of the trend moving forward but only time will tell.

Quantum class differs from all others but for me I like that.  I like this class more and more with every cruise.   It’s very easy to navigate once you know the ship just like other classes are once you know them.

I prefer the Windjammer here compared to Oasis class.

cafe270 offers more than Park Cafe on O class.

Tips?   Book a complimentary North Star, iFly & The Book (Two70 show) as soon as you board.  (applies to any Q class ship).

Drop by the SeaPlex and note the times for any activity you are interested in.  I take a picture of the monitor with my phone.

Check out the food in cafe270.  Great for breakfast & lunch with amazing aft views.

Thanks Twangster for your review, photos, and video.

I actually met you a few years ago, on Ovation Alaska in May 2019.  We were on line at Guest Services (I think the first day?) and I commented on your awesome Windjammer t-shirt.

That's what I asked.  She said it's been around awhile.  She even went through my other bookings to make sure I wasn't lying when I said I only booked two so far.    🤷‍♂️

Since you will be on an entirely new cruise on the second leg of your back to back you should be able to book 3 more cruises.

We get on Feb 12th. I'm so stoked for this one.  Will be my first time on Quantum class.

@twangster You mentioned the theatre didn't require reservations.  Was that true for other 270 or the music hall as well?

On Q class in the past only the Two70 show on that ship required reservations.  The Music Hall has never, as far as i know used reservations.

We have the exact same itinerary on the Odyssey March 12th, do you know if we're allowed to get off and explore on our own in Aruba and Curacao on our own, if we have kids under 12? They are fully vaccinated. Back in November our kids couldn't get off the ship unless we book an excursion with the cruiseline. But I think thats cause there were no kids vaccine yet.

They should be treated exactly as vaccinated passenger now.

Thank you @twangstervery much! Your sunset photos absolutely blew me away! I really appreciate you taking the time to share them with us. I am more determined than I was previously to get DH and I booked on Odyssey as soon as I can manage to fit it into our schedule. I’m already in love with this ship, and I haven’t even been on it yet! I think DH is going to have a big problem getting me off Odyssey once I manage to get onboard! 🤣😱😂

Fully vaccinated is fully vaccinated regardless of age so if you had been on the ship this cruise you would have been self exploring.

Thanks for the fantastic report and pics, could use a little more food porn though.

Sorry, this is all I have.  I wasn't taking photos of every dish since I wasn't planning to do this cruise on the boards.

I've sailed Odyssey a few times already and so I know the ship very well.  One thing I noted as soon as boarded and commenced making my entertainment reservations was this:

First come, first seated.  Reservation not required.

On prior Odyssey cruises the main theater shows used reservations.  Not so on this cruise.

That may seem odd but thinking back to my pre-pandemic Anthem and Ovation cruises the main theater never used reservations on those ships.

The Two70 show does use the reservation system but the main theater on Odyssey has adopted the general Quantum class approach to the main theater, come early for the best seats.

Did you happen to notice if there was special seating for suite guests at the shows now?
