jsblbruce Posted February 9, 2022 #1 Share Posted February 9, 2022 Silhouette Feb 14 sailing - it's official. Grand Cayman has been replaced by a stop in Bimini. Has anyone been there, and what did you do? Given our departure is so soon, Celebrity has indicated shore excursions will not be available until after boarding. Nothing really in the forums, as it appears Bimini is a relatively new stop.
danceswithphones Posted February 9, 2022 #2 Share Posted February 9, 2022 This is a list from Carnival but I expect it's close. There's not a lot there. https://www.carnival.com/shore-excursions/bimini
sippican Posted February 9, 2022 #3 Share Posted February 9, 2022 There's a nice little beach you can walk to, right over the bridge. Honestly, I'd stay onboard and enjoy a nice quiet time by the pool or in the spa.

txtechmk Posted February 9, 2022 #5 Share Posted February 9, 2022 We spent FOUR LONG DAYS in Bimini. Hubby won trip in a golf tournament a few years ago. We will never go back. There's a decent Hilton there with a casino (where we stayed). The only restaurants that were there were only open Thursday through Saturday. !!!! We had to eat at the bar in the casino on the Wednesday night we were there. One night we ate at the beach bar, and the flies were horrible. I had to cover my food with my napkin as I ate. The water is beautiful there however and I'm sure the snorkeling may be good. It was an experience, the say the least.......I wrote a long trip report on trip advisor on Bimini; I'm sure you can find it.

A group had chartered the ship for 7 days of what had been a 10 cruise and Silversea cobbled up a 3 day to Bimini as a result. I investigated Bimini as best I could and decided we would be staying on the ship that day. I recall there was a big stink about improving the dock. mafig Posted February 9, 2022 #7 Share Posted February 9, 2022 (edited) I did some research on Bimini. My eyes lit up when I saw they had a casino at the Hilton. "At least I can go there" I thought. However, further investigation revealed it opens at 6 pm. People boat from Florida to Bimini quite often. They often have boat caravans that go over. The fishing is supposed to be superb. davy jones Posted February 9, 2022 #8 Share Posted February 9, 2022 The are a couple of nice looking beaches there, but they are mostly beach clubs. Free trams at the dock will take you to them. The tram also stops at a shopping area where you can rent a good cart and explore on your own. We got off the ship to stretch out legs and look around. We rode the tram and looked around. There was nothing there more appealing to us than the ship, so we returned and enjoyed the uncrowded ship.

Not sure the golf cart is worth $60 for a half day, but at least we get to stretch sea legs and go somewhere new. Probably a great day to use our Elite "in port" discount in the spa. Thanks everyone for the feedback!

They visited for a brief swim before their ship left. The photo looked nice, so we will probably check it out if our March 4th itinerary changes to Bimini.

Honestly, I never heard of it until Crystal ship started to hide out there. I guess as some ports turn away ships, they end up a Bimini or Freeport

When we stopped there in December the tram went to the two private beach clubs and the public beach and the back to the ship. We were told it was about an half hour walk from the ship to the public market area where there was shopping.

dabear Posted February 10, 2022 #14 Share Posted February 10, 2022 The beach at the end of the free tram was nice, but to be comfortable, we rented a chaise for $40 an umbrella was another $25. There is a large pool & restaurant adjacent to the beach for an additional charge. There is a free beach walking further down but you have to lay on sand.

I'm assuming the "additional charge" would be to use the pool or, of course, what one orders to eat/drink. Is the beach walkable from the ship? dabear Posted February 17, 2022 #16 Share Posted February 17, 2022 It would be a long walk (est 2 miles?). As previously advised there is a free shuttle at the end of the dock that goes by the Hilton & turns around at the beach. I suggest taking the shuttle going to the beach & if you then choose to walk back you will know how far it is. Yes the food & drink is extra. actually the pool guard said we could use the pool for free (if you are wearing wrist bands assuming you paid for chaises except when Virgin ships, which own the complex, are in port.
Rare Tom-n-Cheryl Posted February 24, 2022 #17 Share Posted February 24, 2022 Hopefully I can convince Cheryl to just stay onboard this coming Sunday. I've been informed that "we're getting off there" (since we've never been). That's not logic I share in this case. We live in Florida already - I'm not interested in "beach stuff"!
