Masks Not Required in Most Areas Beginning March 1

Yeah, I can relate to that. I know they are disappointed, but some just take it a wee bit too far. We're all in this together.

Sorry for all the questions..... I'm super overwhelmed with testing for cruise, getting back in to Canada, etc.  

 

I am also from Canada. Home tests like the ones the schools give won’t work, especially to get back to Canada. 
you have to buy tests that offer a telehealth service to proctor it. I ordered mine through AirCanada Aeroplan ( you can just make a few account), through SwitchHealth. The offered RT Lamp which is similar to a PCR test. Or the antigen tests. The antigen kit comes with two tests for $79. They came super fast when I ordered. 
You create an account with them and when you want to do the test, you log in through the app and a nurse observes you and provides the paperwork you need. 
 

im planning to use the SwitchHealth test to fly down, get on the cruise. And bringing them to use for our trip home. 
 

ps there is a Canadian section here that has some really great info on all the ins and outs we have to face travelling. Especially with the ever changing rules.

Fully vaccinated guests may consider using self-administered telehealth COVID-19 tests, which have been approved by the CDC to satisfy the pre-cruise testing requirement. The test must be a COVID-19 viral test (NAAT or antigen test) with Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). The self-test process must happen under live supervision on a video call with a telehealth representative who must confirm the person’s identity, observe the specimen collection and testing procedures, confirm the test result, and issue a report that meets the requirements of acceptable proof of a negative COVID-19 test. The telehealth provider must issue a result document that includes all the necessary information which must be presented at the time of check-in.

 

 

That’s another option. They were sold out when I looked so I went with SwitchHealth.

Thanks for the helpful info. That lab company that I put a link to will supervise the ones the school gives out. I'm hoping these will be accepted for the cruise ship testing requirement.  It's by far the cheapest and most convenient option I've seen.  

 

When the border crossing rules change in March I'll have to see what type of antigen test passes. It looks like it has to be "lab administered" not just "proctored".  Ugh.

It can be telehealth. So the switch health will work. I haven’t looked into the other brand.

This says 3 days prior to embarkation but the example given is still a 2 day window.

 

IMPORTANT NOTE: Effective March 1, guests who are up to date with their vaccines, i.e., received a booster if eligible, may take their test within three days prior to sailing.

If the sailing is on Saturday, the test may be taken on Thursday and Friday, and as late as Saturday, if you are guaranteed to receive your results in time for check-in. On certain sailings, guests should be prepared for the possibility of an additional COVID test prior to boarding, which will be provided in the terminal on a complimentary basis.

The example is the norm. The important note is the exception, hence it is bolded. Agree Carnival could have made it plainer if they had put the note after the example. This has been pointed out ad adnauseum

You don't have to use your phone if you don't want to or can't. I forgot my glasses the first night in the MDR on my last cruise and asked if there were any menus available. They must keep them close because our server had one in my hands in less than 30 seconds and didn't seem to mind doing it.

I know. But I got tired of explaining to crew "I don't have my phone with me" I guess because I'm younger, they expected me to just automatically use my phone to reserve a table or bring up a menu. Or they'd want to walk me through the process of scanning a QR Code. After the second night I just embraced the phone process. This next cruise next week I'm taking an old junk phone, I was worried I'd drop/lose/etc my good phone on the last cruise.

This is great news! 


It sounds like we will finally be able to bring our little one on a cruise! We have had to push out our bookings multiple times and were starting to consider other cruise lines that had more lenient policies.  We need this! 😀

There seems to be some confusion around the responses you've gotten. In short, you cannot use the free tests your kids received (or any free/purchased over the counter at home tests). There are home tests available that will work, but you must specifically purchase the Binax Now proctored tests through the Optum store.

Sounds like any test approved by the CDC......

Every night I told them I want a menu   I am not eating fast food..... They can at least give me a menu.  It wasn't an issue or any extra work at all.  Every night they had a menu for us. 

 

Someone mentioned tablecloths..... I bet they are a thing of the past since they realize how much easier it is without them.
