Me either, but I’ve cruised before too. Maybe the App could open with directions to your muster and not move past that screen till you have completed. 😂

Drazil65 Posted March 24, 2022 #53 Share Posted March 24, 2022 When I cruised in October, as soon as we walked into our cabin, the television was showing a video with Shaq in it and it mentioned the new muster process and that it needed to be completed before sailaway. There were other things mentioned in the video but it was on a loop, so it was playing over and over, reminding you that you needed to get it done. I knew prior to boarding the ship about the new process but I think that this was a great way to let the cabin occupants know about what needed to be done. This was on the Magic. Our last trip on the Magic, our cabin steward knocked on each door in his service area. We were just getting ready to leave the cabin to go when he knocked on the cabin next door. He saw us in the hall (we had met him earlier in the day) and he asked if we were on way to muster. He was diligent in making sure no one in each cabin and asking people to leave to go if there was someone in there. I believe almost all people (newbie or not) do some research or at least look online these days. I would bet many of the newbies know someone that cruises or are on the ship because they are will other people that have cruised. In this day and age where people have the information world in there hands I would say anyone that is missing muster is more on the lazy side or has an attitude already. There are many, many checks making it clear that people are expected at muster.
Indiansbaseball Posted March 24, 2022 #54 Share Posted March 24, 2022 Our last cruise ( Nov. 2021 on Horizon) we boarded about 11 AM …we went to our room and straight to muster. They weren’t there yet. One guy told us to come back at 12. We sat and waited until someone finally showed up. Thankfully it was in the punchlines, so we were comfortable. Whatever they decide, muster must be ready for us when we board.
Joe817 Posted March 24, 2022 #55 Share Posted March 24, 2022 When we went on our Vista cruise last August, once we boarded the ship, we went straight to Muster drill, with carry-ons in hand, and watched a 3 minute demonstration on how to put on our life jackets. Easy peasy. Then we went to our rooms to unpack. Very smooth. Glad we did it that way.
geckoaz Posted March 24, 2022 #56 Share Posted March 24, 2022 The old muster was not fun. In miami it meant standing in hot sun and humidity. Please keep e muster.
Rare jedi bobs Posted March 24, 2022 #57 Share Posted March 24, 2022 Time to make examples of people. at 230 call out all names that haven't gone to muster, that they must go to muster, at 300 call out names again telling them they have 10 minuts to report to muster or be disembarked, no refunds on anything perchesd though carnival, at 310 whoever has not gone to must gets hunted down and escorted off the ship, no refunds.

Saying no charges at all until it is completed is kind of off point because the only thing that is open for charging anything to is the bar until sail away and under SOLAS the muster needs to be done before then (or maybe shortly after, not 100% sure). The same thing applies to trying to do any of this before boarding, I believe SOLAS requires it after passengers have boarded, but I'll leave that to the experts. As for the idea it sounds good on the surface but it really would be a logistical nightmare, trying to keep hundreds of S&S cards organized at each station so that they could readily and easily be handed out by the 2 or 3 crewmembers are also trying to complete the muster itself. I still remember when they were handed out in the terminal and it always added several minutes to the process for the cards to be retrieved. I do like an email beforehand telling everyone of the requirement but am not sure it would help a lot. Same thing happened to us on the Radiance. One drink and then to the muster station! Not sure how the guy we saw in the elevator before we headed to dinner was drunk and still drinking as he was complaining about having to try to find his muster station, but oh well. Remember those days well. All standing outside waiting for stragglers in the hot sun in Galveston. No we do not want to return to those days or even just crowding into some venue on the ship to watch the demonstration then having to deal with the crowds returning to their staterooms etc.

Went straight to muster in the dining room at 11:30 - no one was ready for us until after 12. Yet in January went to our muster at 11:15 (Freedom - lifeboat) and was done in less than 5 minutes. Not at all. They can run, but not hide. Attendance was taken with the old way once Carnival moved into the 21st Century with tablets for crew. Rare Eli_6 Posted March 24, 2022 #63 Share Posted March 24, 2022 I think sometimes the problem is new cruisers. I don't know if they always realize that they literally keep the ship from sailing.
Rare trbarton Posted March 26, 2022 #64 Share Posted March 26, 2022 I haven’t been on Carnival for awhile. If I’m reading correctly you do everything at the muster station where their may or not be a staff person when you board. I'm more familiar with Princess where we watch a video either on our TV or mobile device & then go to your muster station. Thanks for all of your information. Trueblueky Posted March 26, 2022 #65 Share Posted March 26, 2022 Perhaps if they selected one person who did not muster and showed them the gangplank. ;D
