On Allure Now And I Got Covid So Now What?

Recommended Posts

OP -

I wish you a  mild case and a speedy recovery.  I applaud your honesty as you could’ve ignored your symptoms and simply walked around the ship with Covid. Is the medical staff able to give you any of the true Covid meds?

I wish the quarantined passengers  were in a more comfortable cabin (May be a balcony) as I believe more people would admit they are sick. I get the feeling that many  don’t wanna leave their cabin to be in the ocean view cabin. One of my  fears is being quarantined in a cabin with no fresh air. If I’m not feeling well it’s not a big deal but once I start to feel better it would drive me insane

if you’re feeling up to it can you order off of the dining room menu, or simply the room service menu? And, also if feeling up to it, or you allowed to have alcohol delivered to the cabin?

thank you for your honest assessment and information.

Again, best wishes for a speedy recovery.

This is my 4th cruise in a row on Allure. I didn’t leave the ship on the last cruise so I know I didn’t catch it in a port. I’m sure I got it on here. Unfortunately there will always be covid on ships.

We were on the NV last week and some crew started to go missing so I agree that Covid will be on cruise ships. Our favorite bartender was gone after Tuesday evening. It’s always fun to watch the other crew members actions when you ask where a certain person is. Hope that you feel better soon. You almost made it the entire month. 🙂

Hope you're feeling better soon, OP.

Covid or no Covid, I wish they'd ditch the carpet. I understand it probably really helps with sound insulation between decks, but I love the look and the carpet is sometimes pretty sus.

Glad you were honest. Yesterday, we witnessed two security guards trying to get a passenger to open their door. I suspect that she was trying to lay low with covid and wouldn't let the attendant in the cabin. Your cruise is pretty much ruined either way. I hope you feel better soon and are treated well.

I would have loved to be a fly on that wall.

I’m coming up with a plan to sneak you those chocolate martinis you requested! Ugh my biggest fear for sure, this sailing is packed!

Please make sure they add cherries to it. That was my latest obsession on last weeks cruise. I love the cherries.

Hope you recover quickly and the symptoms aren't too bad.

Wish your report didn't exist, of course, but nice to hear a level-headed, un-opinionated account of the experience.

😆😆😆 I haven’t ordered anything that requires coffee or soup containers yet. As I tell myself to be nice.

I am so sorry for you.

Now besides being in quarantine, do they check on your status.

Anyone, come in contact with you.

Or do you have to call for assistance.

Do you get to see your DH?

Take care

Interesting about the crew.  Any idea if the ones quaranteened are the actual RCI crew or contractors?  I sometimes wonder if the contractors like in the casino, spa, and entertainers get treated differently?

Sorry this happened and hope all goes as well as it can.

Thanks.

I found out this morning that there are 6 other passengers. I wanted to ask if they went to medical because they were really sick but didn’t bother because they might not have told me. I’m not sure if the crew are contractors or not. I’m guessing that we are all being treated equally. It would be terrible if they treated crew differently than the rest of us. They are also in OV cabins and I’m assuming they are ordering the same foods that I can. I was told I could order from the room service menu or from food in the MDR. I was also told to ask for anything that I might want. 🤔 They really shouldn’t put me to such a challenge. They might regret it. 😀

Corn Starch.

That’s interesting. I’m surprised it would take 90 days to compost.

Your room looks way better than the traditional ones. I like how it looks without carpet and bed skirt.

It’s much cleaner without the carpeting.

I hope you feel better quickly. All things considered, you seem to be in pretty good spirits so far. I have to say I’m pretty impressed that you were so responsible—seems like even the crew was, too. I hope you order a beverage soon. I’m dying to know whether it arrives in a soup container. I feel like we’re slowly putting together a puzzle with these little details like the soup containers, no bedskirt, and the mysterious red phone cord… 🕵️‍♀️

The corn starch is typically mixed with a biodegradable binder to make a plastic-like material, and depending on which type of binder is used, the decomposition time can range from 60-90 days.

Thanks. I have read on another thread that someone on a ship (not sure which one) who had the drink package was able to order drinks. I don’t have the package but I do get 5 free drinks a day for being D+. I haven’t tried to order any and not sure if I’m feeling up to it. I just ordered the Royal Wagyu Hamburger like I did yesterday since it was good. I can order from the room service menu or from MDR. I’m thinking I might just tell them I want some of the Indian food from the crew area. I love Indian food and was told they don’t mind. I’ll see what’s on the MDR menu first.

Was this to be the last cruise of the series, or were  you planning to remain on for more cruises?

m

Sort of. I had booked the cruises for April 16th and the 28th. Two days prior to the last one I decided to add on 2 more. Debated about adding on one more after these because there are some people on here that will be on it. DH has to go to recurrent training next week (as long as he continues to test negative) and I need to be home with our fur babies so I didn’t. Looks like it wouldn’t have worked out anyway.

Thanks. They come twice a day to check my vitals. When food is delivered they leave it on a table outside and knock on the door and leave. I can’t see DH since he isn’t allowed down here. We call and text. When they first told me they would be moving me they asked if he would be coming with me. I was surprised since I would think they would try to keep more people from getting it. I didn’t want him to come since I’m hoping he can avoid catching it.

I'm guessing you must have an idea of what room number the other quarantinees are in... Could you give them a ring?

Maybe I’ll order some chamomile tea tonight and see what happens. Now if I order a chocolate martini and it come in a soup container I’ll have a temper tantrum. 😆 Now if they put it a soup container and fill it to the top with a ton of cherries I’ll forgive them.

My husband and I are in quarantine on a different ship (Ovation). I had the refreshment drinks package but that has been refunded for the remainder of the cruise. My husband has ordered a 'glass' (plastic cup) of red wine with dinner a couple of evenings and we haven't been charged for it. We are diamond so get 4 drinks vouchers a day, but looking on the account it hasn't gone through there at all (before quarantine the voucher drinks were showing on the account at $0), and given that these days are being refunded, I wouldn't think the drinks vouchers would apply anymore.

I'm not sure if that's correct or not - given that this ship hasn't had passengers for months they haven't really got their covid processes sorted for guests, only crew. So it may not be policy that the drinks are free, but so far, they are.

I hope that you are feeling better soon.

Spoiler alert - we ordered chamomile tea in quarantine and received... a tea bag.

Only a tea bag and no hot water or anything? How are your symptoms and how long have you been in quarantine and time left? What kind of room are you in? Hope you are also feeling better soon.

I think I might be fine in quarantine if I had free movies, internet, my drink vouchers and could order from the MDR menu....and a cabin with a bathtub...which is a must for me.
