On Allure Now And I Got Covid So Now What?

Recommended Posts

Just have to thank you for being honest. I’m a little concerned about my cabin neighbor, heard all this commotion around 6:00 am this morning and noticed door sign is gone.  He, she or they might be your neighbor now 😬

ReneeFLL-  Your attitude is amazing.

Have you been able to get any medication such as Paxlovid?  of course, I don’t know if you fit the criteria.

I love reading the back-and-forth conversation between you and the other Covid quarantined poster on another ship.  Bonding.

my favorite take away from all of this is someone asking for tea and sadly getting just  a teabag.  Note to self, next time I order tea from room service, I will make sure to ask for hot water as well

feel better soon!

Yes, pro rated, thanks for clarification

Voluntary enforcement? If he has a clean test, will he get run of the ship again

So pro-rated for only the one moved ? No compensation for the loss of companionship :classic_wink:

out of curiosity - had you been wearing a mask indoors during the previous cruising weeks?

No. As soon as the protocols changed I ditched it. Before that I wore it all the time when required.

He would have to test negative for 5 days and 10 days of mask wearing so he still has to eat in the room. I feel bad for him. ❤

I might have missed it, but did you say at what point Mike would be fully cleared of restrictions?

Tom

It would be 5 days of testing negative and 10 days of mask wearing.

Yikes. That's why I didn't call medical immediately after testing positive. I wanted to calmly pack and then notify them. That might have been them trying to pack in a hurry. If I had to pack in a hurry it would have sounded like the wild, wild west.

Not sure what the criteria is but I think I would need to be more sick. Also not sure what they have on board.

I think it will be pro-rated by the day. He still has to wear his mask when out and about and is required to eat all meals in the cabin.

Thanks that's very nice, but I'm still waiting on my 50 long stemmed roses.  They must be white also. 😇

I've read here in the past on other threads that the negative person also got at least 1 day compensation  for being stuck in their cabin. They got something in the past, just not the whole rest of the cruise refunded. I wouldnt like to be sick on my cruise.

I was told I had free movies but haven’t checked it out yet, I was refunded for the internet I purchased and was given free internet, I can order from the MDR and I have heard you can get some drinks but I haven’t tried it yet. No bueno on the bath tub.

I have people on both sides of me and up and down the hmallway. I wouldn’t feel comfortable calling them.

So sorry you are sick, hope you feel better soon and can get home quickly.  Did you drive or Uber to the port?

I believe it's pro-rated per day so the time I have been held hostage should be free for both of us. I'll let you know after it's all said and done.

We used Uber since we are less than 5 miles from it. My concern now is how to get home if Mike tests positive. Since we live so close I don’t think Royal will get us home. The plan is if Mike is still negative then he will get off asap, Uber home and then come back to get me. If he is positive then we have a dilemma. If we told Uber we were positive I’m sure they wouldn’t want to take us home. Do we not tell them, wear our KN95 masks and ask them to open the windows? I really wouldn’t feel good about doing that. I plan on talking to Royal to see if they can help if we need it but not really expecting any. Keeping my fingers crossed that Mike stays negative.

Interesting about the crew.  Any idea if the ones quaranteened are the actual RCI crew or contractors?  I sometimes wonder if the contractors like in the casino, spa, and entertainers get treated differently?

Sorry this happened and hope all goes as well as it can.

Thanks.

A family member has just joined Radiance he is an officer and has to quarantine for 3 days even though his test was negative.

For what it's worth, I think if you both wore KN95 masks,  or double masked with a KN95, and sat in the back with the windows open wide in the back, the risk to the driver on a 5 mile trip is probably lower than the rest of his day with unmasked passengers.   You could tell driver you recently had covid and offer him a fresh mask for even more protection.   I take cabs almost everyday,  and drivers rarely wear masks.  Good luck to you.

Lately it seems most of the Ubers we have been taking have been wearing masks, but not all. A few even with the KN95 masks. Royal did leave 2 KN95 masks in this room the are prepackaged.

Others who contracted COVID have reported that they were driven to either a quarantine hotel or a rental car agency, so I would guess that they would have you driven home if you live so close to the port.

All sorts of seasonal bugs are making the rounds now.

I had basically a month-long sinus infection in March. Tested four times for COVID, all of them negative. I agree, lots of nasty non-COVID illnesses going around right now. My region of the country seems to be battling a norovirus-type illness right now.

So this is what happened on Monday and this cruise started on Sunday. I started having cold symptoms in the afternoon. I was very tired so I decided to take a nap and deal with it later. Woke up and took the home test kit that I had with me and tested positive. I immediately start packing because I read that they don’t give you very much time to pack. After I was almost finished packing I called medical and told them that I tested positive. They sent someone to test me and it took about an hour for the results to come back. Still positive. They said guest services would call. It took them over an hour to call to explain stuff. I already knew most of what was going to happen because of the info on here.

This was my plan after I had symptoms.

Self test and if positive start packing and then notify medical.

Self test and if negative don’t bother packing but still let medical know I had cold symptoms. The self test could have had a false negative. If I then tested positive I would then start throwing stuff in my luggage.

By the time it was all said and done Monday night they said it was to late to move me and that it would happen at 8:00 am. Ordered breakfast to be delivered between 7:00 - 7:30. That was DH idea. I wanted it between 7:30 - 8:00. I can eat fast if I needed to. They called at 6:45 and were at the door in about 2 minutes. I guess they didn’t get the memo that I didn’t even want to order it for that early so calling even 15 minutes ahead of time was a big no no. 🤣 Just kidding. At that point I just wanted to be moved and be done with it.

I’m a little disappointed that I didn’t have a walk of shame. They let me down. There were no people dressed in the white coveralls with face shields and no fogging behind me like I have seen some pictures and videos. I missed all the fan fare. There was a guy from housekeeping dressed in his usual work clothes. He carried my luggage while I carried some other stuff.

We went into a crew area and took the elevator down to deck 2. Got off and got right back on a different one and went to deck 3. 🤷🏼‍♀️ I was a little confused but whatever. He then turned me over to another employee who was dressed in the white coveralls with a hoodie. All the crew have been wearing masks since the restart. My room wasn’t ready yet so we waited in the hall and talked. He thanked me for letting them know I was sick. The dr that called and guest services also thanked me. I’m guessing it’s rare that people will fess up about their symptoms.

Anyway, so suited up guy and I talk in the hallway. He said most people in the covid cabins were crew since they are always being tested. I’m on deck 3 in an ocean view room. Room is like others but I did notice there is no bed skirt and no blankets, etc underneath the bed. There also isn’t any carpet. I’m guessing this was done since these are covid rooms. I have free internet and free movies on tv. I haven’t looked to see what is showing. And so it begins. I have 4 days left on this cruise. DH can order room service or go and get food, but he must eat in the cabin. He will also get tested daily.

I'm sorry that you contracted Covid. One thing that baffles me. Another cruiser on a different Royal ship said his wife contracted covid and although she was moved and quarantined, her husband was allowed to roam the ship with no limitations.

That would be nice but I was told pro-rated.

Correct they didn’t test b2b people. I originally thought they were because I had already been tested 10 times for b2b and didn’t realize they had changed it. Yes Mike is still eating in his cabin. He will get tested again later today for covid.

Glad to hear you are doing OK.   If Mike has to eat in his cabin I guess he isn't allowed to drink at a bar either?   Must be a wierd solo cruise for him.
