lola2013 Posted May 18, 2022 #2 Share Posted May 18, 2022 (edited) Sorry to hear...hope you are having mild symptoms and will have a quick recovery. Our group is sailing on Mariner in August...other than your covid experience, how was the cruise? Did you sail at full capacity? Staff shortages? Thanks, Susan Edited May 18, 2022 by lola2013

I am also just off Mariner last Sunday. Quite a few pax tested positive during the Bermuda requirements for next leg going there, otherwise if not going to Bermuda...they would not have been. That was how they were caught before. Others on our roll call, and the live thread came down with symptoms and tested positive. So far so good for us, no symptoms at all, but worried about getting tested on Friday again for our Sunday Harmony B2B. 😮 I think our ship was way too crowded, way too early, with no social distancing or safety protocols in place at all. Very sad.

Nothing earth shattering, just generally feel yucky…. I did a tele-visit with my doctor today and he does not feel I need any meds at this time.

Jasukkie Posted May 18, 2022 #13 Share Posted May 18, 2022 Unfortunately the full capacity, no masks thing is leading to numerous positives on every sailing right now. Since the CDC is no longer concerned, it's just going to be this way. At-risk people should not cruise now. The low capacity era was great but it's over.

DoctorWhoGirl Posted May 18, 2022 #16 Share Posted May 18, 2022 We were on the same Mariner sailing and all 4 of us are testing positive as well. My husband yesterday, my kids and I this morning. Unfortunately my kids and I are on Indy right now so currently waiting for our escort to medical and the red zone. 3

Three of us fully vaccinated and double boosted; one fully vaxxed but had a really bad case of Covid last fall. She is the only one of us who got Covid, and one person roomed with her, and we all drove in the same car for the 2 hours home. It's so random sometimes.

Very unusual for us to do a single leg, but this was a last minute add in during remodel time out. Was bummed at first that I did not do the 2nd leg, would have loved the romantic image of going to Bermuda...but ughh...not with what those B2B pax went through! 😮 And, now that we seemed to have been on the "Covid of the Seas". Yikes...definitely with you, glad we came back home. Just hope we were two of the lucky ones. Sad so many were infected. 😞

Yikes...definitely with you, glad we came back home. Just hope we were two of the lucky ones. Sad so many were infected. 😞 We decided to finish out this year with shorter close to home cruises. We were to fly out on Saturday for almost three weeks in Italy along with a cruise. The probability of testing positive prior to the cruise, while on the cruise or the day before flying home made us rethink our decision. Now we’re cruising on the Navigator which is less than a two drive from home. Our next sailing is a three/four night B2B in about two weeks. We were on three weeks ago. Covid was on the ship as I saw crew going missing but we came home safe. I would much rather be able to get home to recuperate if needed. Our longest cruise this year will be an eight night on the Solstice in December from Los Angeles. No flying for the remainder of the year. Italy can wait until next year.🙂
SilkySal Posted May 18, 2022 #22 Share Posted May 18, 2022 Hope you feel better soon and thanks for posting! We plan to be on Mariner for a B2B in October and I hope Covid is not still rampant! We just finished a B3B in April on Vision and I never left the ship and avoided the crowds, which may have helped in staying healthy but, who knows, maybe it was just dumb luck! Hope I'm that lucky again in October! Of course, it may have been the amount of alcohol consumption!😏 Happy future cruising and staying healthy! Cheers!🥂
Jimbo Posted May 18, 2022 #23 Share Posted May 18, 2022 Sad to hear this but lately it seems to be the norm. You go on a cruise and either you are positive onboard or right after you disembark. But yet ships keep getting fuller and fuller for each sailing. Not sure if masks work or not or even if reduced passengers loads work on ships ...........But something has to change I believe. It just can't keep continuing like this can it?

It seems with increased capacity I am reading a lot of cases coming off most of the ships. I am not sure where the cruise lines go from here. It’s a slippery slope for sure….
mommao729 Posted May 18, 2022 #25 Share Posted May 18, 2022 (edited) It’s very disheartening to keep reading about all these positive cases during and after the cruise. I think the cruise lines should’ve kept the capacity down especially with staff shortage. and I hate to say it keep the mask policy. I am supposed to be cruising in July, but I’m starting to think maybe I’ll reschedule. I don’t think I could handle quarantine. It’s just not worth it to go at this point. I had 5 cruises cancelled over the past few years. This would be my first cruise back. Edited May 18, 2022 by mommao729
