Princess Prizes LOL

I don't know if anyone cares but the same couple on Regal just now won 5 of the 7 prizes including the $5K. Scam, rigged? I don't know but it was hilariously awkward for everyone but that "lucky" couple.

Maybe only 2 people opted for Premium?  Could be a crafty sales tactic. When word leaks out that you have a great chance of winning and winning multiple times, maybe people will start busting down the door to upgrade/book Premium!

No, don't care. Just wonder what @pris993means by "the business of cruising"?

The winner was the one everyone saw in the hallway for the entire cruise.....

....constantly opening the door to get yet another entry.....

Princess Prizes is linked to the Casino. Door entries are only recorded, if the. Casino is open, so not while in port or hours when the Casino is closed This detail was not explained clearly when Princess Prizes was introduced. On the July 12 Prizes presentation on the Grand, one guy won 2 prizes, one was the Grand prize of $5000.

it appears not that many have opted for the Premium package or to pay 20/day for entries?

Let's see, take in $20 per day from 4 passengers, that's $80 per day of income.

After 7 days, we will have collected $560, then we give away $5K to one winner.

Sounds like John Padgett deserves another promotion.

They're having a hard time doing that right now, so this is just a distraction.

Could someone please explain to me what this Prize stuff is all about? Or link some info.

Princess Prizes is part of Princess Premium, or you may add it by itself for $20 per day.

Here are the official rules:

We upgraded to Premium on our Majestic Alaska cruise in June. We 'won' $175 each---exactly the amount we paid for the upgrade. So that was fine for us. Got a couple photos, 2 free dinners in the specialty restaurants and the elusive upgraded wines.

Winning the $175 slightly reduced our annoyance at the complete lack of availability of the upgraded wines.

It does not include trying to make a cruise a game show!

Sure it does. Cruise businesses are for entertainment, not for essential transportation services. The entire concept of a cruise business is to provide entertainment to vacationers. This includes production shows in the main theatre, comedians in smaller club like environments, shore excursions, trivia and other games, swimming pools and water games, movies under the stars, etc.

Different strokes for different folks, never participate in most of what you describe.  If I want to cruise on a Carnival ship, I will book it.

The events described happen on every single Princess cruise. Every. Single. One.

I don't as well. But I don't criticize the cruise line for providing those activities for passengers who do. Tolerant people don't find those activities as something worth complaining about. There are so many other activities onboard that we ARE interested in that we have no need to complain about those we aren't. We simply avoid them and go about our lives.

Exactly how do you increase your chance of winning the prizes?

So you need to open and close your door to increase your chances of winning a prize?

I tend to agree with you, except that the #$%^%$ Movies Under The Stars, which now runs with concert footage throughout the day,  with blaring distorted sound, seriously interferes with my ability to lounge by the pool in peace.

I simply think that Princess is moving in the wrong direction.  I have read comments about the lack of quality/consistency in services on recent cruises.    Just think Princess might step up its effort there over promoting prizes.

Obviously, given some comments here I am wrong, so be it.
