I’m sorry this happened to you OP.

Would someone please explain what a voucher is and it’s purpose?   If you “cash out” why do you not have actual cash rather than a voucher?

Button on the Machine says "Cash Out", all it does is print the value or eanings on a voucher. It does not give you cash, you have to turn slip into cashier to get pay out

Perhaps a visual might help - this is what comes out of the slot machine when you "cash out"

It is theft.  It's a shame RCI won't do more to investigate.  Do they know who turned the bag in?  I think it will require a firmer hand from you to get them to do more.

How much was the voucher for?

It's unfortunate this happened.

This should not be a "too bad, so sad" situation. If you leave a bag behind, someone rifles through it and takes $100 cash, Is that not stealing? If security can track down door magnet thieves (also things left in a public space) they can track who took your voucher!! If it shows that the same person who touched/took your bag also cashed in the voucher, bye-bye thief!

I know that there have been situations where the casino was able to track down who cashed the voucher (cameras everywhere, remember?  Especially at the casino cashier's desk) and apprehended the person, and the cash went back to its rightful owner.

So it is possible.

I have to agree! What difference does it make what might have been taken from your bag, or that you now blame yourself for loosing sight of your bag for some minutes? Stealing is stealing, be it casino vouchers, cash, or something else of value.

I wonder, could there have been some kind of a misunderstanding with the casino manager? Are you sure they correctly understood what you suspect happened - especially if the magagement aren't native English speakers and if you yourself were (understandably so) a bit upset  when you told them? Perhaps you could try again, but use very simple language and make sure they understand that you suspect someone rummaged through your bag and took something of value from it.

When I read the OP, my understanding was they wanted reimbursement for the amount of the voucher.   If that is how it was presented, then I think you have a very valid point.

The OP still has not mentioned the amount of the voucher...which leads me to be it is a minor amount and not worth the investigative trouble.  As an aside, I am also a little confused as to how a hairbrush is of more value than the credit card and cell phone... Sorry OP but the presentation of your story is a little suspect...especially when it involves an accusation of theft.

OP

If you won voucher and when you did you had your sea pass card in machine

CASINO know it is your voucher

💯

When that voucher was scanned at cage and cashed CAMERAS would have seen who cashed it

💯

it is traceable back to you and whoever cashed it

100% on the casino to investigate

for those asking about the amount of voucher, be it $2.00 or $900 that’s the OP’s business and regardless what anyone thinks, casino can find who cashed it

also what ever else was in your handbag is really irrelevant

Ignore all those questioning your personal items

Been a Casino Royale member for 22 years and think I have a pretty good understanding of how RC casino Royale operates.

OP hope this helps

and if staff onboard do nothing, escalate to corporate

I believe the vouchers don't have any identity to them besides the amount of the voucher.

I always thought the same, until we cruised with friends on MSC. When our friend cashed in his wife's voucher, the casino cashier asked him very politely, where was his wife? She came over and then they cashed the voucher. I was in shock that a picture apparently comes up when a voucher is cashed at the MSC casino cage, never heard of that on any other ship.

TITO

”Ticket In Ticket Out”
I worked on this technology back when it was implemented

it is very clever and traceability was one of the key factors for using it and added a layer of security for the Casinos

There were many other reasons for its introduction as well 😉

Happy Days!

Thank you. To be fair now I think about it, I am not even sure if someone took the bag, and it was later found, rather than me forgetting it. The bar was packed.

Sorry this happened to you.    It is one reason why I never bring a handbag on a cruise.   I am sure I would leave it somewhere too.      I am so happy to leave my purse at home.

It's not theft or stealing so people should just stop with that. It's lost property and found property, OP is lucky to even get the bag and the rest of the contents back. Is keeping the found items a crappy thing to do? Sure? Illegal? No. They could have kept the whole bag. Happens everyday. Even the voucher tells you to treat it as cash, it's the same in Vegas too. There is no crime here, just an unfortunate situation that was capitalized on by someone of lower morals than others claim to have. Don't let this ruin your trip, consider it as a loss and keep it moving. You've spilled the milk and they can't unspill it for you, they can fill a new glass with a tasty beverage of your choice though.

You are kidding I hope.  Someone went through her bag and took something that wasn't theirs.  That is called stealing.  Or are you one of those that believes the "finders keepers' crap?

Saul Goodman, ladies and gentlemen!

Of course it's theft.  "Finders keepers" didn't work on the second grade playground, and it doesn't work here, either.  "Lost" is not the same as "abandoned."  If you find property, you typically have a duty to make a reasonable attempt to find its owner or leave in custody of someone who can.  On a ship, the absolute no-brainer thing to do would be to turn it in at the casino desk, bar, front desk, etc.  If you don't do that, it's theft.  If you keep any of it before you do that, it's theft.

Big difference! Crimes have elements that need to be met, not mere feelings of wrongdoing/unfairness. Losing property doesn't meet the elements to establish the crime theft (stealing). You don't have to like it but the law is the law.

You are absolutely correct.  I see that you are in California.  Here's the law:

You might want to go turn in all the stuff you've recently found. Have a good day.

So, you think it's not illegal to go through someone's bag and take something?

So if you leave your phone in your unlocked car.

You leave to go in a store

someone takes (steals) your phone

leaves everything else behind

Is nice enough to leave your car

You would be happy that it is what it is

and you wouldn’t pursue getting your phone back

On her person, sure, that would meet some elements to build a case, depending on if force/fear were used to obtain said property (much more serious) or some other form of distraction trickery (less serious) but those both involve "the person". Finding abandoned/lost property does not meet any element on it's face. Is it a crappy thing to do? Sure is.
