There's still the issue that someone  likely took/stole it.   It's really two separate issues.  One, someone probably went through another person's bag and took it and second, someone (prob same person) cashed it in.   This thread really isn't about a "lost" ticket.  It's about someone possibly stealing from another person's bag.

Some posts make me wonder how some treat other people's posessions or what they do when they find something that isn't theirs.  Moral equivalency just doesn't work for me.    It's one thing to find a $20 bill on the sidewalk in a busy area and quite another to see someone drop it and still keep it.  As a child, I accidentally left a purse with $5 in it on a bench when we were shopping.  Someone turned in the bag but kept the cash.  It was so obviously a child's purse, yet they had no problem stealing from me.

Of course that 30 foot walk to the cashier is too hard for some lol.

I wonder how many tickets are either lost, thrown away or just forgotten to get cashed in before the end of the cruise, those few cents nobody can be bothered with all add up over time I bet.

Oh, it happens.  Most people we've met on cruises (and friends) have said they have come home with vouchers for 25 cents or something.  As I said, I always hand mine over to someone playing at a machine if it's less than a couple of dollars and I've had the same done for me.  They can then just add it to their balance and play.

The one I have is for 15 cents from Symphony at Christmas.

With something like 35000 people cruising per week, I wonder how much they make from uncshed tickets

How did you come to the conclusion it was a female that is the presumable thief? 🤣

All men I know have a natural aversion to reaching inside a woman's purse.

Mind you this is unconscionable thief.  He might be a sociopath without normal human response.  You are right to question my assumptions.

With the amount of alcohol consumed on board I imagine a fair number of chips and vouchers slip to the floor or are left unclaimed on slot machines.

Off topic question…. If they are still using vouchers how do they keep track of your play? Do we have to keep our card in the machine while we are playing?

On the newer ships, you don't put your card in a slot.  You tap it on a sensor.  It stays green while you are playing.  When you tap out, it turns red. (then blue, for "ready for next player")  So the machine tracks you while it is green from your tap.  🙂

I was on Jewel in March. An older woman sat down at the machine next to me. Within a few minutes security walked over to this lady & asked her to come with them. The lady kept saying "I don't know what you want me to do".  I didn't catch the entire conversation but after being told that there was video footage & that she actually knew exactly what they were talking about, she did leave with security. Apparently, she had "found" a ticket & was using it. It was traced & I didn't see her in the casino for the rest of the cruise.

I like the machines.  Oasis' are now marked "not in service".  😞

I like the machines too, but since the restart they haven't been working apparently.  You can touch the railings, the elevator buttons, etc but don't touch the cash/change machine.  We were on HOTS last Nov/Dec and we had to use the cashier.

Yeah, I'd forgotten that as our last three cruises have been on EN which is old technology.

You and I both know that it's not that they don't work.  It's that RC hasn't put them back into service.  Why, I cannot fathom.

TITO

”Ticket In Ticket Out”
I worked on this technology back when it was implemented

it is very clever and traceability was one of the key factors for using it and added a layer of security for the Casinos

There were many other reasons for its introduction as well 😉

Happy Days!

I have a question not directly related to the thread. If my husband puts a ticket in the machine along with his card and then decides to move on but leaves the money in the machine for me and I put my card in the machine and play. I cash out eventually, how is this traced

MMS (Money management system) will track the history. Computer software

Consider it like this

As soon as you see your name on the machine display

it knows you are using your husbands credits

Your cards are linked to the same folio.

But say I have $123 credit in a machine and leave it in there

You then put your card in

the system knows you are using your account playing with my credits

it really isn’t that complicated

No need to overthink I unless a crime is being committed 😎

Anyways

regardless of all the permutation’s of usage

We still have the issue of a stolen ticket

Scenario #1 Family of 3

Player A inserts card into machine #88

And then inserts a $100 ISD into the BV (Bill Validator)

Plays for 5 minutes and cashes out a ticket worth $125.00

Removes their players card and leaves

Player B inserts card into machine #88

And then inserts a $100 ISD into the BV (Bill Validator)

Plays for 10 minutes and cashes out a ticket worth $150.00

Removes their players card and leaves

Player C inserts card into machine #88

And then inserts a $100 ISD into the BV (Bill Validator)

Plays for 10 minutes and cashes out a ticket worth $150.00

Removes their players card and leaves

All 3 players insert their individual winning tickets into machine number #4

Total $125 - $150 - $150 = $425.00

They cash out a NEW ticket value $425.00

Using a machine to consolidate x3 tickets

Players A B and C move to machine #69 and insert NEW ticket value $425.00

They insert Player A’s sea pass card into machine #69

Play for 20 minutes and cash out an amount of $555.00 from machine #69

PLAYER A gets the points

They go to the cage and present ticket to be cashed

Cashier gives them $555 and the three players go to the schooner bar for a drink

They then go to machine # 44

And insert $300 cash and win a jackpot 🎰

Every transaction listed above will be tracked, traced and can all be linked to the original starting ticket cashed by Player A for $125 and also further back to the $100 bill they inserted at the very beginning.

This is how casinos track your play, award you points and prizes and free cruises

Hence why they encourage you to use a players card every time you put money or a ticket in a machine

It is also a layer of security to be able to track and trace as detailed above.

The scenario is one I can relate to as my wife, daughter and I do this pretty regularly.

We typically pick a machine at end of night, and bet max and have a “go for it” session

Winnings spilt 3 ways and one player gets to rack up more points quicker.

Hope this helps 👍🏻

You back on this thread for another round Pompey lol...just for the record, as of now, we have no evidence the ticket was stolen.  For all we know the ticket could have fallen out of the bag and is still stuck to someone's sandal or scooter wheel.
