Port Everglades Priority Check In Question

Hello Cruisers-We are dipping our toes back in the cruise pool this weekend for the first time since COVID19 and haven’t been on HAL for over 10 years. Can someone please enlighten me as to how priority boarding works when our boarding pass shows both priority boarding (Club Orange) and a designated boarding time? On other cruise lines, traditionally priority boarding has allowed us to arrive at the pier and board at our leisure. Thanks for your assistance

Officially, you can arrive anytime after your designated time.  This is a hangover from Covid.  In fact you can arrive at your leisure with no issue.  Personally I don’t like getting to Port Everglades until well after 11:30 to avoid the crush

I am not sure about your cruise, but ours - N Statendam from Pt Everglades 11/26 - says all on board by 2PM.  They have moved the sail away time up to 3 PM.  We are going to try for a little earlier than 11:30.

Boarding will not start before 11:30.

No reason to rush to get there early since they did away with the embarkation lunch.

Different question but does anybody know if Global Entry is being recognized at debarkation?  Just curious.  Ours expired during covid.  Don't know if it's worth renewing anymore.

While the physical boarding of the ship may not be until after 11:30 as you describe, I am boarding the NS on Saturday and have a group B check-in of 11:20am.  I think the Group A's are 11:00 on the nose.

In my 2 post covid cruise experiences they haven't been any more diligent in enforcing boarding times than pre-covid.  2 is a small sample size, I'm sure there are exceptions.

No more GE at PEV.  They have switched to facial recognition so it moves quickly for everyone now.

Priority boarding has more to do with which check-in line and the waiting room you go to than the actual assigned boarding time.  You will move through the 4*/5*/Suites (Neptune & Pinnacle) expedited line and will go upstairs to a separate waiting area vs being seated on the ground floor in the main terminal.  There are snacks and drinks available while you wait.  At 11:30am they open the doors, escort the PS passengers onboard, then the remainder of the priority passengers will follow by row.  It’s all very civilized and orderly.

Oct 2021, boarding the N Amsterdam in Seattle, we had a later boarding time, but walked right onto the ship around 11-IIRC.  Very easy, quick.  Now that they are not required to check vaccinations & covid testing, I would think it would be even faster.  It all depends on how quickly the ship gets cleared from previous cruise.

We’ve been on four HAL cruises since the restart.  On each of those cruises embarkation lunch was available.

Do you recall dining room hours?  Our boarding time is 1pm so I suspect we may be out of luck.

Thank you.

12:00-1:30pm.  Entry on Deck 2.

The MDR has always been open on my North American embarkations but was closed a few weeks ago at Civitavecchia (Rome) embarkation.

Thanks for the advice and information everyone. We were mostly worried about not being allowed in the terminal if we arrive prior to our official check in time as we are arriving in the area mid morning and have transportation prearranged. It sounds like with Club Orange that worst case scenario will be sitting in the lounge a little longer waiting to board but at least not out in the sun. Thanks again

We let our TSA Pre-check expire during Covid.  Had planned to join Global Entry, but could not get appointments in time for our overseas trip in July.  We did fine without it.  Then we took a trip to Disney in October.  When waiting in line for regular security at FLL, we saw no signs for TSA or Global Entry anywhere.  We only saw CLEAR.  My son-in-law says that's the way to go now.

You can go there to get TSA precheck hours at every airport https://www.tsa.gov/precheck/schedule

Clear is only good for one year but puts you at the front of the tsa precheck line

So even though my boarding pass now shows 11am, I won't be boarding until after 11:30am? And does Group A mean anything? Thank you !!

Simply, the ship wouldn't be ready for boarding at 11:30. Check in is one thing, boarding is another.
