Anyone know how long this takes? My final bill ended up with refundable credit left that Princess owe me, rather than me owing them anything... Nice position to be in I guess!

Asked on board and guest services just said I'd get an email link to enter my credit card information sometime...even though they already had this on file to take my money lol

Never heard of that.  They usually send you a check about 4-6 weeks after the cruise.  Be careful because the check comes from a third party, not Princess, and looks like junk mail.

Probably a new employee at GS.  They mail you a check, they say it comes in about 2 weeks, but it’s more like 6-8 weeks for mine.

It comes in a window envelope from Bottomline Technology for Princess Cruises.  Just watch for it.

Disembarked 9/18/22 & a surplus of $34.94 showed up ($25.78 for missing Boston). I got a check for slightly over $200 but I finally tracked down what it was. Previous issue so still due that pittance.  But it's mine & I would like it. Any suggestions??

Cruise that ended Sept 3 of this year we were owed ~$30.   got that check about 5 weeks later.

Cruise that ended Oct 1 of this year, we were owed several hundred dollars.   Still waiting for that check.    I was a little concerned the check may have been lost in the mail; my PVP checked and said, no, they haven't processed it yet.....   go figure.

Thanks everyone... Any idea from Australia or NZ cruisers - should have mentioned - here in NZ checks no longer exist or usable 😜

Yes, as you say, no longer any of those cheque things in use in NZ.

A few weeks after your cruise you will receive an email.

Follow the instructions and you will receive your money electronically the very next day.

I got a refund from P&O (I know not Princess but same parent company) but can give an NZ view.  I got an email from a third party provider that required me to go onto the HBSC web portal to load bank account details.  P&O sent an email to tell me that this was happening - but I got that one after the provider!!

The payment was made overnight once i had completed my bits.

Word of caution:  my DH and I recently traveled on the Island Princess. Normally our accounts are combined, this time they weren't. I didn't think too much of it until I realized they charged the credit card for full outstanding balance on my account and left money in his to be turned over to Corporate Finance. There was $18 refundable and $21 non-refundable, I know they will quickly add both to Princess account. Not that large amount, but it could have been. I'll watch closer next time.

I could use help with this problem (related). We were booted off the Emerald after a positive CoVid Test, missing the final nine days of the extension called British Isles. That was May 1.

We returned from Europe on Dec 6 and a check for $510 was awaiting us here. This was an allotment for our Southampton hotel during quarantine.

i haven’t been able to get instructions for options that reimburse the missed nine days of cruising May 1-9. It seems impossible to reach a source of information with Princess.Only one sheet of instructions was issued to us just after the positive test result and further contact with Guest Services was unavailable at the time. ( You won’t be surprised to hear that the whole experience was traumatic despite never having any illness symptoms).

I’m curious who to contact and will Princess have a record of this incident?.

If I might ask, was your credit card linked to your husband's OB account as a designated user, or did he have a separate CC assigned to his account? I was always under the assumption the "merging" of accounts was based on one credit card assigned to both accounts.

I "think" we must have had separate cards on file. I updated my account with the new credit card but I think I must have not updated his information. After seeing this I have now deleted the second card to prevent a recurrence. In the past it was in my name and he was a designated user. I can only assume it cost me a few dollars to learn something and be more watchful in the future.

We encountered a similar situation on our first Princess cruise back in 2012. Since then we have always made sure we registered one credit card on the primary account, usually my DW’s, with the other (mine) being an authorized user.

On  our British Isles cruise in October and a Caribbean cruise we just finished my wife and I had one credit card listed for payment.  In all our previous cruises they totaled it all up and billed us for anything we owed or sent us a refund.  On the BI cruise I left the ship with a positive $97 balance and DW was a minus $91.  I figured we'd get a check for $6 sometime.  But they immediately charged our card for her $91 and three weeks later sent me a check for my $97.  On the cruise we just finished we received emails saying DW would get check for $6 and my account was sent to billing because I owed $14....

Closing the loop on this... Sounds like AU/NZ (or NZ at least) based customers have it easy. Received a clear email today from Princess and another from HSBC. Enter bank account on HSBC website and paid within 3 days. This is pretty much bang on a month after cruise departure.

I was surprised earlier this week to receive a check in the mail for the entire amount on DH account not used, both refundable and nonrefundable. Seems Princess accounting is going through changes. I have to applaud Princess for refunding, but that was one action that could have been avoided had they combined on the ship.

  • 4 weeks later...

I received a check from Bottomline on Jan 31 of a refund of the credit balance on my On Board Credit (all refundable) from cruise ending on Jan 16.  Only 15 days!!  I was surprised and happy.

somehow, there is an extra 40 cents but that could possibly be from the casino, an amount too small to bother to cash out.

That’s fast!  Usually takes about a month.

Now you’re rich!  😅

Really?? No checks at all are allowed to be used in all of New Zealand? Wow I did not know that!

From what I've read it seems like even cash is pretty much not used in NZ. Not surprising checks are a thing of the past.

Be aware- when I cancelled a cruise , agent said I would get FCC for my deposit and water purchase.

I said “Wait a minute here, I paid by credit card- return it to my credit card.”

check your online accounts.

glad OP got theirs settled.
