Please don’t be influenced by anything you read here, go on your cruise and decide then given your own first hand experience. You will get lots of useful information here, we did, and read many negative comments, people saying “bye” to Celebrity etc, then we did our two cruises last year (not experienced cruises, these were our fourth and fifth only, all Celebrity), and loved them. We are back in September and are not worried in the slightest that we won’t love it, and two more Celebrity cruises next year. We don’t ignore negative comments here, we bear them in mind for when we are on the ship, and then we judge ourselves there.

Ok that is a great sentiment but are you happy that they will change their policy and allow vaping in the casino and perhaps other inside venues

I'm starting to regret booking my first Celebrity cruise. I Had been really excited about it all but have a sinking feeling I'm not going to enjoy it if these boards are anything to go by. I Think I'll steer clear of them in future.

It really isn’t that bad.  I have two Celebrity cruises booked.

That’s even though the last time I asked for ice in the room, they brought it at 33F instead of 29F.  Can you believe it?!  😳

It’s an experiment for 8 weeks that will hopefully fail and not make it to Policy. But if it does it won’t make me stop sailing Celebrity. So not happy with it but it’s not a deal breaker for us.

I’m worried that if they allow it in the casino, the need step is allowing it in the cabins and balcony because “it’s harmless”.  I don’t want to walk into a room and smell the vape odor.  If that happened I would reconsider.  I hope it doesn’t come to that.

Honest question: what would be a deal breaker for you?

Thank you C4HCG, its nice to know that not all Celebrity passengers are like that. I Wonder how many people that vape have read this thread but haven't responded because of the vitriol they know they'd receive? I Must admit it has dampened my excitement for the cruise, I really wouldn't choose to be on a ship full of people that shout you down and call you a liar as soon as you disagree with them. It's hard to hear someones point of view whilst you're shouting at them. Seems to be the way these days though, if they don't agree with you shout at them until they do.

Honestly? Even if they don't allow it in the cabins, etc., it's not going to stop the vapers from doing it whenever and wherever. They'll see it's allowed one place and then do their little sneaky puff "that emits very little vapor" that they insist is healthy and anyway isn't detectable by anyone.

Heck, they already do that. Just having it allowed in one place will just make it even MORE likely that they'll feel empowered to do it elsewhere. And until Celebrity management makes it clear that they'll stand behind their crew when their crew confronts people doing it in non-allowed areas, the crew will remain afraid to step in and will continue to turn a blind eye and allow it to happen.

So sorry for valuing my lungs and not wanting to risk popcorn lung because you can't stop yourself from puffing away. Health outranks feelings.

People who have experienced discomfort from vapers such as yourself, who claim nothing is noticeable, have every right to tell you that you're wrong. Don't you realize that you are saying they are lying when they relate their stories?

I personally don't think you are lying...but I think you are rationalizing right up to the edge of it.

Until you can prove that nothing gets emitted, you are polluting the air other people breathe. Disagree all you want, but if you ignore their concerns don't expect your lack of respect to generate warmth and a chorus of kumbayas.

Sent my email.

DH & I both are Blue Chip Club members and typically get free Aqua class or veranda rooms. Carnival sends us free drinks everywhere & suite offers, without having to fly.  I can't stand the smoking stench, and I suffer from asthma.

BUT... I don't care if someone vapes SOMEWHERE ELSE. If I'm sitting a card table and there is a vaper... the super enveloping cloud can't be escaped mid-deal! And I can SEE the entrails enveloping everyone. The vaper exhales more often than normal breathing, typically open mouthed...COVID mouthed?  There is more than second hand smoke to be aware of these days.  I mean, it isn't as if we aren't elbow to elbow packed in with one or two more seats at the table than a standard Vegas casino.

I am shocked to hear of this Policy Change - I do hope it is a Pilot Project that fails!

I have written to executiveoffice@celebrity.com to express my dismay about Celebrity allowing Vaping in the Casino...

My Husband & I who are avid Cruise fans became very loyal to Celebirity with one of the main reasons being Celebrity's No Smoking Policy inside... We totally avoid the exterior smoking areas but it is impossible to avoid the Casino as expecially on the older ships one must walk thru the Casino or change decks to get from bow to stern...  Yes we are very sensitive to smoke and go out of our way to avoid it...

Presently we have 9 cruises booked and if this vaping in the Casino policy goes ahead than there we will be cancelling our future cruises and I will look to find a line that does inforce a no inside smoking policy...   And darn I was looking forward to obtaining the Zenith Designation in early 2024...

I guess I am lucky in that all 9 cruises are still over 90 days in the future....

I bet a many of the angry people here are former smokers, myself included.  Stopping is tough.  Vaping is simply rationalizing you can't quit - my lungs are going to be affected by the effects of your vapor.

Time to compose still another irritated, grumpy email to the executive office....big sigh.  This is getting old.

I sent a letter to Celebrity voicing my opinion against Vaping.   I received a very short call

back from a  Celebrity representative.    She said, "all responses are being logged and reviewed"

and that they value the customers feedback and want to keep their current customers. If you do not want Vaping Please email them.

Please don’t misquote or misinterpret me. I’ve no wish to get into a bun fight with such people. What a vey poor representation of Celebrity passengers this thread is bringing out. I’m out of here.

Remember to hand in your vape pen on the way out.

Right???

Still frustrated from the Beyond redeployment debacle, I learn about this choice.

I'm so thrilled to learn it's only an experiment. An experiment they are apparently trying on our Eclipse cruise in less than 2 weeks. So we don't get the chance to change or cancel, being well inside 90 days.

Heck, we spend plenty of time in the casino, usually. I guess Celebrity won't be getting that revenue now, either.

Seriously, what the hell is going on over at Celebrity!

I hope this incursion into the advertised "100% fresh filtered air" is not introduced fleet wide.

The introduction of vaping into an enclosed, or semi-enclosed space makes a mockery of the "HEALTHY  AT  SEA  POLICY."

"Creating the best cruise experience possible means prioritizing the well-being of our guests, crew, and the communities we visit. With the guidance of health officials around the globe and the counsel of our dedicated shoreside and shipboard medical teams, we continually update our health and safety protocols to align with global best practices."

At a time when so many places around the world are banning the use of any smoking materials in an enclosed space, this introduction is almost unbelievable!

Well this is one of the reasons why we left another cruise line and moved to Celebrity. We unfortunately have another cruise scheduled with Celebrity that we have paid for or we would cancel. Very regressive decision, but I can vote with my feet.

This is a directive from the new CEO, I presume?  WTH is going on???  Someone called this "The RoyalCaribbean-izing" of Celebrity, and I agree.  Celebrity is supposed to be a better product.  If we wanted to sail RCL, we would.  But we don't.  The MDR test menu on Equinox with the cheeseburgers and tilapia, I was like, ehhhhh, not happy but ok, ok, but this!?  We would leave Celebrity for this.  Smoking/vaping only outside in enforced designated areas was a big plus for Celebrity.  Hopefully the outrage will be heard loud and clear.  I am preparing my email to the executive office email which has been shared on this thread.

1) Do not care as long as I do not have to breathe it.

2) I would not play craps any longer because I would come into contact with.

3) My Wife prefers Disney Cruises, so without the casino option, we would probably switch back to DCL by default where my Wife will hit Pearl status this year.

Who is shouting you down and calling you a liar? People are expressing their honest opinion on this issue. It is a fundamental sea change for Celebrity who has always touted their non smoking casino only to do an about face with no notice, no studies, no focus groups, etc.
