Our upcoming California coastal on the Eclipse is very close to being sold out and it was no bargain.

Same with our 8 October Pacific Coastal cruise. And this isn't our first.

Just sharing some datapoints...So they dangled these Mex-Riv free cruise offers to casino players, myself included, multiple times and often these were the only sailings players could get fully comped.  Currently, pricing is a mix of cheap and expensive.  There are only two 8-nighters, the Nov 17th one is over Thanksgiving which is far cheaper than the earlier 8-nighter.  Current prices for insides:

I wish that one of the cruise lines would have an Alaskan cruise from San Diego or LA  stopping in Oregon, Seattle, etc.  I would be onboard for that.  Or one that stops in Canada and has more port days.

Agree. We're doing a Pacific Coastal 8 October 2023 on the Eclipse. Didn't realize nothing for 2024.

We are doing

13 SEP 2024
6 NT COASTAL VANCOUVER TO LOS ANGELES

b2b with a Panama Canal on the Summit.

Couple of pricing, hot off the press, non comped, for November.

11/11. Ocean view $329.  Balcony. $429.  Concierge $499

11/25. Ocean view.$329.  Balcony. $429.  Concierge $479

These are both six nighters cruise only. Taxes and tips still be need to be added. I think if you check comparable Caribbean cruises, for the same timeframe, they would probably be double this. Where would you position the ships if they were yours?

Sounds good, but not seeing that cruise on Celebrity's website.

We've got an Alaska Dawes Glacier cruise 13 September 2024 on the Edge out of Seattle and returning to Vancouver.

I said earlier to start and finish in Oahu Hawaii and go to the French Polynesian (Tahiti, Moorea, Bora Bora, etc).  However, could start in Hawaii and end in Tahiti for the southbound route and vice versa for the northbound.  NCL has something like this one way and stops at other Hawaiian islands for a 12-nighter however you could do a one way with ample port time in 8 nights

Based upon these prices it looks like there is a demand for Pacific cruises,  just not for every week.  I suppose that when Celebrity leaves the other lines will make bigger profits on their Pacific cruises.

Based on receiving the comped offer multiple times, my WAG (Wild A$$ Guess) is a good portion of the occupancy was filled by casino players

What has this got to do with the cruises leaving from L.A.? It was a reply to your comment, nothing was mentioned that would remotely be relevant to your comment.

That was 100% true on our coastal cruises in March.  On our Roll Call half the people (or more) were bragging about their free cruises!  Being a very loyal Celebrity cruiser who had sailed with them recently, we of course had to pay full price.  Don't think it's the same for our two upcoming October cruises though.

We did the Mexican Riviera on the Solstice last November (over Thanksgiving). We live on the east coast, but it was cheaper for us to fly to California to take this cruise than to sail the Caribbean from anywhere closer to home.

Not only that, but it was also cheaper to get two connecting balconies for our family of 4 instead of just one cabin like we normally do. We also had friends who booked last minute and they got a killer deal on a balcony for the price of an inside. It doesn’t seem like it was selling well at all with all of those deals.

That aside, the longer flight was worth it. Loved Celebrity and loved the entire itinerary (it was something different for us).

In my folder of good ideas that didn’t happen, one that really bugs me is my plan to do a September 2023 b2b2b on Millennium from Seward to Vancouver to L.A. to Lauderdale via Panama Canal. But in 2023 the Millennium does a right turn at the end of the season and goes to Japan rather than on south. So I did a simple b2b from Vancouver-Seward-Vancouver. We have done the westbound Lauderdale to LA and quite enjoyed the whole trip.

Oops! Not the Summit, we were on Millennium a couple of weeks ago! But my point is still valid.

You will have to post how you enjoy the cruise.    With Celebrity abandoning the West Coast we may be following suite.

Us as well. We spend 30 to 40% of our time in Souther California. We were very fortunate to sail a few Mexican Rivera cruises out of LA when Japan was shut down. Understandably it was a stop gap for Celebrity when Japan was shut down.

It appears Princess and HAL will control the San Diego/LA sailings which, to be honest, I do not have an issue with after the recent Celebrity strategy decisions on pricing and quality.

just saying….

Princess is doing RT Alaska out of Los Angeles in 2025.

I think X missed a real opportunity with next April's total solar eclipse. We will be at sea on Princess near Mazatlan during totality, allowing the captain of our ship to find the best viewing site. It seems that having an eclipse cruise on the Eclipse would have been a fantastic marketing opportunity, especially to new customers, and could possibly have gotten more people excited about other West Coast cruises on X.

I know Princess has two ships eclipse-chasing, and I think HAL has at least one.

I'm looking forward to the 360 degree sunset I've read happens during a total eclipse at sea.

I agree - although may be biased as it  sounds like we are on your Princess eclipse cruise n April  🙃

Are you on the round trip one, or the one that goes through the Panama Canal after the Eclipse? We are on the round trip on the Coral.

Would love to be on one that does the Canal after ... but out of our 14 day holiday maximum permitted by our dog 😐

We are on the Princess Discovery, round trip from LA.

We did an 11 night cruise on Mercury in 2007.It was the best cruise of our 16 cruises with Celebrity.  We stopped at Cabo, Mazatlan, Puerto Vallarta, Manzanillo, Zihuatanejo an Acapulco. So sad that they no longer cruise there.

We were on that cruise also!! that's when we watched the Chicago Bears loose in the super bowl.😟

We were in Acapulco and all the comercials were in Spanish.
