I’ve never sailed HA before. Which desserts should I keep an eye out for?? 😁

Welcome to HAL!

I have too many dessert favorites to name one 🫣 each one already named, I said, "yes, that one!!" Every time, lolbut the tiramisu in Canaletto is pretty amazing.

On the World Cruise this year, I kept a note on my phone listing the desserts I liked and which ones I didn’t. I didn’t want to waste calories (or food) ordering something I didn’t enjoy. I love chocolate. That coffee ice cream, chocolate cake and banana would have been a 5* desert for me if they had served it on the WC.

I didn’t bother listing any of the non-chocolate desserts 🙂 However, I did enjoy the various berry crisps. None of my friends like the banana or pineapple crisps. Unfortunately, those were served more often than the berry or apple crisps.

Here’s my list:

Favorites;

Chocolate delight (round chocolate on cracker, like fudge)

Chocolate cake with carmelized popcorn

Chocolate soufflé

Flourless chocolate cake

Double chocolate tart

Chocolate raspberry tart

Maybe:

Chocolate brownie stack

Chocolate Paris Brest (good choc mousse, bad crust)

No:

Chocolate croqant praline

Opera cake with coffee buttercream

Chocolate caramel tart

Sachet torte

Linzer torte

Peanut butter pie in the Lido (seems to be served every Saturday in the menu rotation)

Banana chocolate tart (MDR)

Key Lime pie (Pinnacle dinner)

Chocolate brownie (Pinnacle lunch)

Watermelon pie (have not seen this in years but hope springs eternal)

I love the fruit crisps in MDR

Fruit crisps are often not on the menu, but ask your waiter.  There is always one fruit crisp available every evening even if it is not on the menu; it just varies which kind of fruit.  They are delicious.

IMHO, HAL does amazing bread, and I wish it was the same for desserts.  I do want to quality my response by saying that I'm not one of those Americans that requires a ton of sugar in the desserts because I don't like that.  I recently had what they called "cheesecake", but I don't know what that was...kind of a cross between cheesecake and custard more like.  I know people rave about the bread pudding, and honestly I don't get it.  Their tiramisu and creme brulee is very decent.  But, if you are a dessert snob like me (beer snob also), then go with the Gelato in the Canaletto or at the Gelato station near the pool (depending on what ship you are on) or the Tiramisu.
