Considering Regal Princess but ....

Recommended Posts

We are considering Regal princess but the only cabin available for our preferred sailing is D220 .

Would have preferred midships ...also the drinks package plus benefits is expensive for us moderate drinkers .

How are the gratuities paid for this category of cabin , and how much per person per day .....thanks

If you look under the FAQ section on the website, it will tell you this.

IMO, D220 is in great location.

What is your concern about D220? (Other than it not being where you prefer...)

We really like that location, being very close to the front set of elevators...

For a 14 night cruise you are looking at around £355 per cabin.

We loved the Regal in 2018. D220 is forward and will have a loveseat; however, it is one of the smaller balconies. The balcony will have some overhead coverage which is nice for rain and sun protection.

Thanks, we are going to wait and see if other cabins become available .

Now that's a question !!!

Never sailed Princess but on other ships we prefer deck 10 midships .

Always between accommodation decks .

Family cabin though there's just the two of us . Like to upgrade to Superior cabin for more room and a bigger balcony .

Looking at photos of Standard Balcony cabins the Princess the balconies are very small .

Happy cruising !!

With regards to the package, it includes gratuities and wifi, and a couple casual dining meals: when we added that up it actually still worked out good value even though we don't really drink a lot.

I’m not sure that Princess will allocate a family cabin to a couple. I think the only time that happens is if you take a guarantee and are lucky enough to be given one of the family cabins. Probably a lot will depend on when you want to cruise. If it’s not in the school holidays you’ll have a better chance.

You are right...  the Balconies on this Royal Class ship are small... no doubt.

The Deluxe Balcony will be slightly bigger than the small standard balcony...  Just enough to squeeze in the little two seat 'love-seat'.

the mid-ship bump-out balconies can have a bigger balcony, but as you mentioned, there might not be any available, as these get booked up more quickly!

Have you tried searching by putting in THREE guests?  Perhaps this will show more available cabins.  Princess is known for holding these back for more than two passengers.

If you might consider a AFT wake-view balcony, on some decks, these have nice large balconies.  Not convenient for walking to any forward venues...  But many love the wake-view.

The only other option for a larger cabin would be to pay the higher fare for a mini-suite.

These have a larger cabin, a larger bath with a small tub. (no small corner shower with curtain).

They should also have an actual table on the balcony. (not just the small side/footstool table)

I don't know how far you are from final payment..  but could consider putting a deposit on a Mini-Suite, as the price could increase....  And keep that option open.

Pull up your cruise and keep checking for any cabins that might open up.

Don't worry too much about your Deluxe Balcony not being full mid-ship.

You should still be fine where you are...  and I think you will find that there is no life-boat down below you in your view.

Thanks, you have been ever so kind ... I have seen a video on YouTube .

Going to ring TA this afternoon.

Regarding the plus package.  It's 60 per day, 16 towards gratuities, 4 towards two casual meals, 25 towards wifi.  That leaves you with 15 for drinks.  Alcoholic and non alcoholic including bottled water, soda, mocktails and espresso based coffee drinks and the fresh juice bar.  Even if you don't drink alcohol, it's real easy to break the 15 dollar amount on the non alcoholic stuff.
