Have a 9:45 appointment for my second cataract surgery.  Will catch up later.

Moscato Watermelon Sangria cocktail:

There's nothing more refreshing than Olive Garden's delicious Watermelon Moscato Sangria, so make sure you have a drink prepared for summer or when you want something light and refreshing to drink. Best of all with only 3 ingredients this is one of the easiest drinks to make for a party.
Ingredients:
3/4 cup strawberries
1 bottle (750 mls) moscato
6 oz. watermelon syrup
6 oz. ginger ale
1 orange
Directions:
Pour Moscato, ginger ale, and watermelon syrup into a pitcher and stir gently.
Add ice to the pitcher and stir.
Cut fruits into small pieces and add them to the pitcher.

Good morning friends!  Back to my usual routine – exercise, then posting here and breakfast.  Today the weather here at home in Georgia is clear skies and 65F (12 degrees cooler than Frisco).  Today will be sunny with a high of 93.

Thank you Rich @richwmn for the Daily and Fleet Report as well as the ship location maps.  Safe travels to Atlanta pre-cruise.  Today we recognize cinemas, the importance of petroleum and an author who published under the name The Duchess.  The quote by Mr. Skinner is not true for my life.  Absolutely not to BBQ carrot dogs!  I’ll skip the drink and wines today.  I’m wondering how the Kellogg-Briand pact could be enforced.  Anyway, thank you Eva @superoma, Dixie @summer slope and Ann @cat shepard for your great food and beverage reports.

Prayers for my DB, the people of Israel and Ukraine, the hostages still held, and our troops in the war zones.  Many prayers for our Care list individuals including Joy’s DS Bonnie, Tana and Terry, Chuck and Annie, Ann and Pat, Melisa and her DH, Nancy’s DB, Jacqui, Elizabeth, Roy, Jane’s DS, Terri and Jim.  I hope I haven’t forgotten or missed someone.  Praying for improvement for you all!  A big salute to all our cruisers, those preparing to cruise, and everyone celebrating a special occasion in their lives.  Thank you so much Vanessa @JazzyV for your work in keeping the lists updated!

Today’s port is Kusadasi (Ephesus), Turkey.  What a great experience we have had there, right?  This was the port prior to today on Jan. 13, 2022 and Jan. 19. 2023.  First the links. Please post or repost your photos, and it will be a pleasure for me to do the same.

Yikes!  Why do these pictures show up some days?

Have an excellent day, and try to stay safe and keep well.

Thank you Rich, Vanessa, EVA, Ann, and Dixie for the FR&D   I like all 3 of today’s days.   Special prayers for Ann, Pat, Terri, Jim,  Melissa, Chuck, Annie and Tana with  Annie and Chuck at the top of the list.

I don’t agree with today’s quote.

I have not been to Kusadasi.

Sadly, the Kellogg-Briand Pact did not last long.

Carrot dog?.  My alternative is Lebanese Lamb Shank and Baked Alaska as served on MS Veendam August 23, 2014.
.

PFT and pulmonologist this morning., followed by my weekly visit to one of my more distant grocery stores but back home much later than normal..

Good morning.

Thank you for today's daily reports.

A couple of interesting days.

We have been to Kusadasi a few times on Royal Caribbean cruises.

The shopping is excellent.

Not sure about today's food.

I hope everyone has a wonderful day.

loved our visit to Ephesus in Kusadasi, Turkey in November 2012 on Crown Princess.  We had a Cruise Critic roll call tour with a few of our fellow passengers.  But first our tour stopped at the final resting place of the Virgin Mary, located in the Solmissus Mountains.

Good Mirning from a warm day at the beach

Not sure what the forecast is, always the same at this time of year.
Many thanks to all who wished me well after my fall at the airport. Luckily I am sore and bruised but otherwise ok. It was an uncomfortable flight home . But I am here, so all is well!

Don’t agree with today’s quote and no to the meal.
Ephesus is on our itinerary for the WC so anxious for pictures.
    Some appointments today.
stay safe and enjoy today

On our tour, and most tours there, you will stop at leather outlets and Turkish rug factories where they will try to sell you their products.  A few people did buy a rug but not many.

I don't have a travel sunrise for August 27.  This was taken one year agi this morning on my street about 500 feet down from my house.

Good morning everyone.  I have spent 18 summers in this cabin and yesterday the heat was the worst ever inside and out, we have had hotter but not the humidity.  Finally a windstorm after midnight cooled things off.  We will have to check our road into town to see if trees are down.

Thanks for the daily and maps Rich!  Will celebrate cinema, petroleum, and the author Dutchess.  Hats off to the US, the current world leader in petroleum production and exporting to our major customer the Netherlands.  The attack on Ukraine is the cause of that.  Skinner could stay in his box after that quote.  Beautiful photos of Ephesus Sandi!  I'll pass on the meal and the salad cocktail but I like Albarino.  Thanks for researching these for us each day ladies.

Vanessa I hope you had a better day yesterday and thanks for our cares and celebrations reports.  I hope all goes well with your appointments Terri.   Prayers for Tana and Terry, Chuck and Annie, Bonnie, Melissa, Pat, Sandi's DB and everyone else who are ailing or grieving.  Prayers for the people of Ukraine.

We have a rainy morning ahead so I think I will start breaking down the empty wine boxes and bundling the for the trip home next month.  We are having neighbors over for Labor Day brisket so I will get that out to start thawing for Saturday.   Have a great Tuesday.  Nancy

Thank you for today’s FR&D, Rich! Another pretty morning, but a bit more humid than yesterday. And we had rain overnight. The moon & Saturn? were clearly visible above this morning as the Eastern sky was just getting lighter.

Vanessa, thank you for keeping up with all of us. Praying that the dizziness & nausea leave for good.

Gym, Bindi walks, chores, more weeding out stuff, and maybe some pool time.

A new vegetable for the Garden Club!

Prayers for all who need our support. Dixie, praying that all goes well today, too!
Tana, praying that you have a feisty day. Terry, praying that you have an uneventful one. Praying for Bonnie (Joy & their entire family), Melisa & DH, Tony, Jacqui, Ann & Pat, Terri & Jim. For Maurice (Gerry, too) who lost one of his best buddies. Prayers for all the caregivers. For Katherine & DH on losing a great friend.

Cheers to all who are celebrating. Sandi, those three little ones are just gorgeous! Thank you for sharing.

May we each find a reason to smile today.

Albariño

Gee it is not every day that I am given a blank slate to fill in. This was fun. I went to my trusted source - Google & asked it to help me find the best Abariños. It went to its trusted source - Wine Enthusiast, who identified the 10 best to drink NOW! I chose one on the less expensive side, for anyone who has never tried this varietal before now. If you have ever had Viño Verde in a Portuguese restaurant, it most likely had this varietal in it. It has more body than a SB, and more acidity than a Chardonnay. It is a wonderful wine for a hot Summer evening. Online prices for the one I picked start at $19.00.

Anselmo Mendes 2022 Alvarinho Contacto Alvarinho (Vinho Verde)

Skin contact has given this rich wine its density. It is a full wine, hinting at spice and minerality. The wine’s ripeness shows some aging potential. Drink this great wine from 2024. 93 Points  — R.V.

Ok, not fair! We had carrot Chicago dogs the other day. Will this become like the butternut squash showing up everywhere? I don’t like these recipes any better than the Chicago style but I could see making them if I had friends or family members who were vegetarian.

Both recipes par boil the carrot first and are otherwise very similar

Great photos Sandi.

We have always walked around the many Bazaar's and port shops and bought plenty of clothes etc.

Nancy

I'm glad you enjoyed the Ephesus photos Nancy.  Hope you see a nice cool down this week.

I want to my trusted source - Google & asked it to help me find the best Abariños.

Thank you so much Ann for your sweet comments on the 3 babies.  Great job choosing the wine today!

On our tour, and most tours there, you will stop at leather outlets and Turkish rug factories where they will try to sell you their products.  A few people did buy a rug but not many.

Sandi

Some of my most treasured souvenirs are from my trip to Ephesus.  The beautiful embroidered cotton tops and silk and woolen scarves that I bought just as we walked out of the Ephesus site are still in perfect condition. And I bought a serving dish and glow in the dark bowl at the place our guide took us instead of the rug/leather stop. I thought I was nuts to buy some of these things, but I still wear/use them almost 9 years later. So perhaps not quite as nuts as I thought. 😎
