billsrobb Posted August 3, 2006 #26 Share Posted August 3, 2006 Loud? No! Repetitive, yes. We heard Carly Simon's You're So Vain about 10 times on our 7 day cruise. It became our running joke to sing along.:) You're so vain you probably think this song is about you.
WeLuvVacation Posted August 4, 2006 #27 Share Posted August 4, 2006 ^^^^^^ As long as the music is "Chicago", I am cool with it!:)
DqALEX Posted August 4, 2006 #28 Share Posted August 4, 2006 It is a popular comment made by many cruisers that they find the constant music being played in such locations and the elevators, restaurants, poolside etc to be obtrusive. In particular, according to research, the predominent liners who favor such loud music at all times are Carnival and Royal Caribbean Cruises. What are your thoughts on the constant (usually loud) music played during your relaxing vacation? All feedback is welcome to this thread. Thank you for help regarding this piece of research.. L2J Posted August 4, 2006 #29 Share Posted August 4, 2006 I like music :) Quick question...CCL now has it's own MUTS....(Seaside Theater?)...I remember reading a press release and it stated that there would be PS2 available. Has anyone seen this and what did you think?

GoinCruisin Posted August 4, 2006 #31 Share Posted August 4, 2006 Wow, I can certainly see where the OP got the idea that it's a very common complaint.... NOT :p LOL! So far, not many complaints.. and I've still yet to see one in a review, LOL!!! :D
Starz723 Posted August 4, 2006 #32 Share Posted August 4, 2006 Im only off the Valor 3 weeks ago and honestly, I cannot remember hearing loud music anywhere other than at the pool area. The music that was played elsewhere was very low and unobtrusive. I do not remember any music in the elevators. When I had enough of the Lido Deck band, I just moved to a quieter area. Its never been a problem I am a Musician and let me tell you, thats the first thing I hone in on. The band on the Valor was turned up a bit louder than previous cruises Ive taken, but no one seemed to mind, including myself. The lido deck was packed. Heck, its a fun ship and advertised as that. I think if people are seeking a quiet and reserved ship, they should try Cunard or other lines that are not advertised as "FUN".

Micahs Grandad Posted October 15, 2017 #34 Share Posted October 15, 2017 my only complaint about music is when they play it in the serenity deck. Like it to be nice and quiet so we can read in peace
Alabaster Cruiser Posted October 15, 2017 #35 Share Posted October 15, 2017 No problem with the music but the movies are waaay too loud. I don't even like to walk through during movie under the stars. But then again, I find them too loud in the movie theaters also. 1maggie1 Posted October 15, 2017 #36 Share Posted October 15, 2017 I had an experience on serenity on the Pride where 4 women sat down and pulled out a speaker and blasted their music over the music playing. Didn't feel like arguing so I moved to the other side. That was really annoying.
Underway53 Posted October 15, 2017 #37 Share Posted October 15, 2017 The way music was in quotation marks in the thread title this thread went a little different than I assumed. Dirty mind I suppose. The only complaint I would have, if you could call it a complaint would be the repetitiveness. And that was t really that big of a deal.

RWolver672 Posted October 15, 2017 #39 Share Posted October 15, 2017 I think a lot of it has to do with your age. The younger crowd plays their music loud, the older, more softer because they enjoy conversations with fellow cruisers instead of just listening to music. On our last cruise sitting out on the Lido deck away from the pool at those tables, we couldn't hear each other sitting at our table. There were a lot of people complaining about it. One gentleman that was seated at our dining table remarked that he doesn't wear his hearing aids while on a cruise because the feedback from the loud music hurts his ears. I have seen people on here complain about it before but just in passing.

jwjax Posted October 15, 2017 #43 Share Posted October 15, 2017 I have complained once about the LOUD music. It was on the Magic, the DJ on the LIDO Pool deck, was playing it so loud, we had a very hard time (yelling), trying to order cocktails! Even trying to give our order to the Guys burger joint was a problem. GS told us they would speak to the DJ when we complained at the GS desk..?? The next day, the volume was the same. If you can't TALK or HEAR anyone while you are on the Lido Deck, RFB, BI bar etc..... do you think there is a problem?? Someone finally told the DJ...to turn it down a few notches, and he did.;p
kicia Posted October 15, 2017 #44 Share Posted October 15, 2017 We absolutely think the music is way too loud all over the ship. We avoid the main pool area and have walked out of the showroom. We would like to listen to the music by the casino but it is too loud. We did buy a decibel meter and will be taking it on future cruises. Most of the music in the atrium is ok. J The only music on Carnival I find annoying is their DJ music on Lido deck. It's no big secret many people have complained about it when Carnival replaced their Calypso live music with cheaper DJs. The music choice of those DJs is pretty annoying to me and I find it loud mostly because I don't like what they're playing. Now when they had the Calypso bands in the past, I've found that to be very enjoyable and in line with the theme of a Caribbean cruise. That being said, I really don't care what's playing in the elevator because I don't spend much time there.

evandbob Posted October 16, 2017 #49 Share Posted October 16, 2017 On my last three Carnival cruises, I was amazed that there was either a string or jazz trio playing live music as we waited for the MDR to open for late dining. After everyone was seated, the group then continued playing inside the MDR, nice touch to dinner. I have been on Celebrity cruises where I have heard music around the pool area that was as loud as Carrnival as well as hearing some guests complain about the volume. But that was Celebrity, not Carnival.
Aquahound Posted October 16, 2017 #50 Share Posted October 16, 2017 In support of the more recent OP who resurrected this thread, I have to agree about NCL. The music at Spice H2O is so loud, it actually hurts. I like loud music, but I found it uncomfortable on Escape. About Carnival though...my only complaint about them is the type of music. I'm not too keen on rap music being played on the lido.
