Smoking policy on Radiance of the Seas

Recommended Posts

I know...I am the black sheep despised by society but darn it, I'm a smoker. I am very respectful of non-smokers and always separate myself from them when I do partake. So my question is...where do they allow my kind on The Radiance? The Harmony allowed smoking in the casino and a designated area near one of the pools. I read that the Radiance actually allows it in one of the bars on board but that was second hand (no pun intended) information, not on RCI web site itself. Any other black sheep out there who can fill me in? Thank you in advance.

Smoking is allowed in the casino except on formal nights. It is allowed on the outside areas on the starboard side of the ship.

Tank you once again Cruiseguy! I didn't want to ask on your review as it could be seen as derailing.

  • 2 weeks later...

There is so much to see and do in Galveston. If you like beer check out Galveston Island Brewing. Tour the Bishop's Palace, eat breakfast at the Mesquito Café, have a drink and/or snack at Olympia Grill or Fisherman's Wharf and watch cruise ships come and go on. Moody Gardens is also pretty neat.

I loved everything about the ship and can't wait to sail on her again in about 6 weeks!

Have fun!

They have not banned smoking in the casino on formal nights since they banned balcony smoking - saves me a lot of money.

You are correct about so much to do in Galveston but the OP was asking about Radiance of the Seas which does not go out of Galveston!

Since you will be on the Radiance in Alaska, not Australia, the only place indoors which permits smoking is the Casino. (Deck 6). There is smoking allowed on one side of the pool deck and the deck above.

I was on Radiance in June and smoking was banned in the casino on formal nights.

As of late July it was still no-smoking in the casino on formal nights after 6:00 pm. (Although it might have changed now since the HD that was there has now gone on vacation. Different HD might have different policy.)

I've heard of this one some ships via second hand information (pun intended) But never have seen it implemented in reality on any cruise I was a part of.

You can stop the smoking in the casino on formal nights, but the stench still remains. Besides, who's going to enforce this rule if someone walks over to a machine in the corner and lights up -- ignoring or not seeing the sign?

When is RCCL going to stop smoking inside the skin of the ship? It's been the case for Celebrity for about 10 years with no repercussions or loss of revenue.

The crew enforces it. Not "should" enforce it or "might" enforce it. They "do" enforce it. I witnessed it.

They should just tow a small boat behind the ship for smokers...let them figure out how to get on and off :D :halo:

On our last cruise there were so many smokers by the pool that we had to start walking on the other side when using that deck to get to WJ. Even outside you could smell the smoke...and they often closed all the windows so depending on the wind there would be a cloud.

But that is what you SHOULD do. They are entitled to that one side of the pool deck. If the smoke bothers you, use the other side.
