  1. I think this is very typical of what the Edge class MDR's have been serving. Nothing special or particularly updated. You can compare it to APEX and Beyond but I didn't see much difference.
  2. Another solo traveler here. For me Cruise Only then waiting for a flash sale on drinks and WiFi has always come out cheaper. I usually book far enough ahead that I have time to wait for flash sales. If you're booking as a couple at the last minute take a few minutes to do the math and see which way is better for you (or have your travel agent do it for you).
  3. The four complementary main dining rooms are: Cosmopolitan, Cyprus Normandie and Tuscan. You can make a reservation or just show up to whichever dining room you want to eat in whenever you want to eat. If they can't seat you immediately they will give you a pager or you can try any one of the other dining rooms. You can order from any of the four menus in any of the four dining rooms. i.e. you can order the Tuscan exclusive entree in Cosmopolitan or Cyprus. You can order a Normandie exclusive appetizer in any of the other rooms. You're in charge. The only real reason to switch between the rooms is the different ambience and table arrangements of each room.
  4. She probably needs to be inspected by US Coast Guard and/or CDC health inspectors before allowing ship into commercial service for the first time. Also needs to be fully provisioned with food and beverage for passengers. She came across the Atlantic with crew only.
  5. About thirty seconds after the dignitaries are gone. On a more positive note have a wonderful cruise. Looking forward to following your adventures.
  6. I'm another one of the "I'll be boarding in two weeks" crowd. Don't forget about the CruiseCritic meetup at the Sunset Bar at 4:00 pm on embarkation day. Thanks KK20 for all the dining reviews and insights into the ship, I can't wait to board.
  7. For me it's $77.99+ but my next APEX cruise isn't for 11 months so plenty of time to wait for a decent flash sale.
  8. I love Eden, ate there three time on my last Edge class cruise but $77.99 is giving me pause. My next Edge class cruise isn't until next October so there plenty of time for a decent flash sale. If it doesn't go on sale then I will reduce the number of times I go there.
  9. Prices vary by ship and date. You have to go into "Plan my Cruise" for your booked cruise to see the prices applicable to your particular cruise.
  10. I just booked the Premium Beverage Package for $47.99 per day plus gratuity and Premium WiFi for $13.99 for one device per day for my Fall 2024 APEX transatlantic. Both prices are by far the lowest per diems I've seen for those items.
  11. My cat does the exact same thing. I don't know what the attraction is to sleeping in a suitcase but he enjoys it.
  12. I just booked this as well for my Fall 2024 transatlantic crossing, I prepaid for one bag of laundry washed and folded and Premium Dry cleaning for up to 12 items. I'll be gone for two and a half week and I don't plan on bringing so many outfits that I only have to wear stuff once. Look under the Gift and Gear section of your cruise planner.
  13. I was looking to book Eden on Apex for next year but I'm shocked at the service charge - $77.99, discounted 8% from $85 per person plus 20% gratuity. I really enjoyed it when I was on Beyond in January but I only paid $54.99 plus gratuity then. That's a 40% jump in price in about a year, ouch.
  14. Check your cruise planner. X just offered great Black Friday prices for my October 2024 APEX transatlantic cruise for the first time. I booked Cruise Only and was waiting for a decent sale: Premium WiFi $13.99 per day, Premium Beverage Package $47.99 per day plus 20% gratuity. I jumped on both deals. They don't have any decent Specialty Dining offers currently so I'll wait on those.
  15. Was the seared tuna an added special? I don’t see it on the printed menu. I’ll be onboard in three weeks and have reservations for Murano for the first night.
  16. Coffee, tea and juices are available 24 hours a day in Oceanview Café. From a recent Eden Daily Planner: Other ships are the same (except possibly the expedition ships, I haven't looked into those)
  17. I got the Classic Beverage Package during a Flash Sale for 50% off ($43.99 per day plus 20% gratuity.) That's the best I've seen.
  18. Yes, I almost always order two appetizers and multiple desserts if they sound interesting.
  19. They are free for all passengers.
  20. They have some interesting itineraries in the Mediterranean but their Caribbean itineraries are boring, poor choice of ports. I was thinking of doing a transatlantic cruise but they rearranged their fleet itineraries recently and reduced the number of Transatlantic crossings.
  21. I booked Club Orange with HAL when I did my Alaskan cruise earlier this year mainly for access to the Club Orange Dining Room. I stayed in an inside cabin and it was my first HAL cruise so I had no status with them. I thought the package was worth it for the dining benefits. I also was given priority to board the first tender off the ship in Ketchikan. (we had to tender initially since all the docks were full when we arrived.). If X included access to Blu or Lumina as part of the Celebrity Pass maybe I would consider it but the benefits as currently outlined just aren't with the money.
  22. Thank you so much for posting photos of the Daily Planner. I'm really enjoying your thread and all the wonderful pictures and stories. It's also as if we're along for the cruise. Did Mr. Norwaylady get a head start on Movember? Looking forward to the 'stash in a few weeks.
  23. I've been tracking Move Up prices for my 12/3 cruise on Reflection. Despite over 200 cabins and Suites still available on the website my Move Up prices haven't budged an inch.
  24. The biggest downside of the porthole balcony is they are extreme forward or aft. You will feel more motion if seas are rough. Also extreme forward cabins may be noisy when anchoring. I don't have first hand experience with these but those are the thoughts that come to mind in general.
